You might use crawl mode if you're not as it's smoother accelerating not as jercky.
When your map is in the bottom right corner turn the camera tiny bit to the right to get full view of trail and opposite for left bottom corner. Thanks
Thanks. I will try that.
Hope to see you on the trails
Yes sir, I hope to get out more.
Merry Christmas..love the hat .. Dennis
Thank you for the Hat Dennis. I love it.
Thats weird, every Polaris I owned was locked up all the way around unless I unlocked it.
It has magnets in the front diff. They only engage if they detect rear wheel spin. I believe that is the way the Polaris works. I think CanAm is the same way also. I might be wrong someone that knows can correct this statement if I am.
That 5 am willl never stop Merry Christmas Ron God bless you and family
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Happy retirement! I’m just a few months away from retirement myself! Maybe you can also go over to Ride royal, tacket creek area and get some thoughts from those people.
Thanks for the tips! That might be a good idea
Love it, Thank you for what you do! And good on you to retire but not stop!
Thanks so much! I am looking forward to 2025 and more videos...
This trail had one of the biggest mud/water holes at Windrock, back in the day. I took my mom on it. We got to the edge of it, and the ground disappeared. I was afraid we were screwed. So I told my mom to go across it slowly, but DO NOT LET OFF THE THROTTLE. It was at least 50 feet across, and we floated on the surface using the exhaust as propulsion. Thank God, neither of us flipped over. Looks like you've got it nice and cleaned up, well done!
That is some story.
So who is the shock guy yall were talking about?
Sounds like he said “Daniel Brenner” or something like that… sounds like someone that would be good to know
Its someone in Oliver Springs that does these. Not sure if he is just KRX or other brands too. Daniel Brenner is his name
I'll say it again, this makes me want to come there & ride. Are they going to continue these videos when you retire?
I plan on continuing the videos. I will be doing some different types in the near future. This channel is not an official Windrock Park Channel. It's my own creation.
Thanks Ron. Looked like a fun little trail.
It was!
I jumped off the rock ledgers at devils elbow on a 4 wheeler a few years ago made it just fine
Cool, got any video?
No video to busy hanging on.
I rode the real trail 14. It ended on the asphalt road going down the mountain. By then, it was really not rideable. Lol There was a waterfall towards the bottom. Going back up was NOT an option. I had to tie a rope on the back of my atv, kick it over the edge and lower, then roll it onto the wheels. I was sooooo wore out. My son sat at the bottom, watching and laughing. Good times.
The Old Trail 7 was off the Paved Rd. They closed it down 15 years ago because of being on the power line right of way if I remember correctly
@@WindrockTV You went off the paved road just a little, to dirt. Trail 7 went off to the right and up the power line to the top of the mountain. It was pretty flat up there, we watched Oak Ridge fireworks there, a couple of times. The top of 14 was right off the road coming down, it wasn't very long, but really steep and really not a trail. And it ended at the pavement too. I believe it was by that flat spot about halfway up or so. 14 got shut down right around then. 2002 or so.
i would also try to block that drop off right were u was standing that's what worries me if ur trying to climb it
Sometimes stuff on the trail doesn''t have a good fix. When that happens we will be forced to close the trail. Really I think most of the time people put too much confidence in their Driving Skills and Machine Capabilities and push the limits a little too far. I know for me, if I was sitting at bottom of that hill on 82 looking up, I have nothing to prove and continue on down 83. I get what you are saying but we have a lot of obstacles on bunch of different trails that are sketch. Blacks and Double Blacks. It amazes me how many people actually come looking for those Double Blacks first trip to Windrock
Thanks for sharing Ron look forward to your show weekly
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Ron 👍🏻
You are very welcome
Y'all make great videos! Really good to see the folks that keep things working like they should. Thank you sir.
It takes a lot of work to keep Windrock Park open to the public. Thanks for the support.
It was not a theater, the big room was full of radar scopes and one wall was used as a screen to display the coverage area and radar contacts My dad was one of the first 13 personnel stationed there
Thanks for clearing that up. I was told that there was a movie theater up on top of the mountain and assumed. Makes sense, that is a large building.
@WindrockTV Actually there was another building to the left of that one that was identical. The floor slab had cable raceways in it for all the wiring. It's a neat place, the logistics that went into building that place was unbelievable
We rode Windrock (Coal Creek) for the first time, in 2002. Over the next couple of years, we came down from Michigan, 30 times. I put over 8000 miles on my machines. What an absolute blast it was. We camped at the bottom of the mountain, next to where they had the permits. There was no campground, or anything else but a bunch of the best riding. They had just recently mapped that side of 116. We met up with some great people to ride with, and we rode a ton of north of 116 before it was mapped. Some of the best memories I have. Manuel Tinker lived on the road heading in, and we kept our 4 wheelers there when we came back to Michigan, we got water from him too. Our buddy Wayne was a constant with us on the trails. Rinkidink, Herb, Johnny, Bo Bean and so many others. All great people. And even though we were actually from Alabama originally, they still accepted us.. lol Great to see the place is still doing great!!!
It sure is a great place to ride. And still is. Thanks for the History Lesson
Great video Ron! Casey and I are heading your way tomorrow!!
Hey Shaun, Sorry I missed you guys.
Hey Ron, thank you so much for your videos! Maybe We’ll catch up with you next week before you retire. we spend a few days Jeep’n around at windrock every year for my bday in mid December. Hopefully get to try out some of those newer trails this time, we are always looking for a bit of a challenge. Thanks for educating us while also providing great entertainment!
Thanks! I’ll be around for a while yet till Friday the 13th after that I will be on vacation to end of year. I might do a Meet and Great on the 21st at the General Store. I haven't decided yet.
Perfect, thank you
You're welcome!
Great weather that weekend! Had a blast! Great video!
It really was a great weekend for it.
Looks like that was a great time. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it.
what do you do with the mud pit? also the machine in there is awesome, them tracks are a beast!!!
We don't do much with it anymore
Thanks Ron. Having fun while at work. Love to have a job like that. Be safe
Having fun at work makes it a lot less like work. Thanks Travis.
Great video....Thank You for posting.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it.
Do y’all have any caves on the property?
Mines but most are sealed up
86 is on my bucket list
Thanks for the hat. Really appreciate it.
Another good video! Appreciate another trail of the week! We will have to try this one when we come up again!
You bet, it's a good one!
I like your logo at the top with Windrock TV
Thanks. Would look good on a coffee mug
Great video. My buddy and I love trail 12. That’s one of our favorite.
It’s a great trail to ride.
Great video as always. I'd check trail 91 there's a washout you can't see until your in it and it's about 5' deep. Sent a guy down the mountain. Maybe just a caution sign washout ahead.
Thanks for the heads up on Trail 91. We went and looked at it. We decided that it was best that we shut it down for now until we can decide what needs to be done in the Spring
Thanks I’ll be doing that trail when I come back
Its a nice one
Would not an excavator be a more cost-effective machine to clear the trails quicker easier move trees with no problem. Wouldn’t have to use a chainsaw as much. Was just wondering.
Dozer can work faster than an Excavator. We do have a Cat 309 that we use with the Dozer. There are few videos on the Channel that show us working it.

Most of the time the Excavator takes more time. Dozer will cover more ground especially when tramming as far as we have to sometimes just to work a small problem on a trail. It took 1/2 day just to Tram the Dozer into this area.
We where down there the week of 10 Nov and I asked who maintained the trails. I was told to look you up on utube. Thank you for all the work I saw done. must be quite a job.
Thanks for checking out the Channel. There is plenty to watch. We maintain all the Trail System with just 2 guys.
Really if he cant run the equipment dont put nobody on it
Is there anyway to change the blue dot to a different color . We rode windrock veterans day for the first time in 9 years been riding else where enjoyed it . We even went ahead and bought annual passes .
Sorry but there is no way to change the blue dot. Believe me we have asked our developer about it.
What State is this?
TN
Hey Ron, is your replacement going to continue the trail of the week videos?
No I will continue on with them till finished. Already had 3 months worth recorded.
What a legend
7:08 dirtbike that has trouble with this isn’t optioned with correct rider mod!😂 Looks like a 3rd gear 20-25mph section! Great video as usual!
Thanks Ron. You would make a excellent trail guide, the way you explain and tell things. Always enjoy riding with you through the videos.
My pleasure!
Hello Ron once again thanks for another great video really enjoyed it. My wife and I would like to try to take this trail that you guys did? Is there a way that you could post in the trails and their numbers in order so that we could try to plot this and do this ourselves as well period thanks so much
We started on Trail 2 from Main Parking Lot. Take Trail 2 to G1, Right on G1, Right on T33, Right on G8, Left on 73 then continue on G31 to Highway 116. Left on Highway 116 to top of Mountain. Turn Right on G50, Left on T50, Left on T88 to end at Highway 116. Right on Highway 116 to Bill Patterson Lane (1/2 mile after turn from T88). Swinging Bridge is located here. Continue on Hwy 116 about 1 mile to left turn on Gravel Road. Take that Road Straight into Trail 12. Left on Trail 14. Right on Trail 11. Right on G1, Right on G9 to Overlook. Go past Overlook to G2. Left on G2 to Paved Rd (P1) to main parking lot. (Note Trail 14 has a few steep climbs and might have a few ruts, we didn't have any trouble)
In the video I seen the krx in front of Ron and Jake.I like his tires. If anyone knows him ask him what tires they are.
That was Corey the Security Guard. I will see what he says.
ITP Versa Cross
@WindrockTV thank you
How many Machines were on that ride Ron?
About 20 or so.
Looks like everyone had a good time. About how many sxs did you have out there. Glad to see you get those employees that don’t normally see the trails to experience them. They will have good stories to tell!
About 20 or so machines
you should overlay the team photo over the waterfall pic :)
Thanks Ron. Glad everyone enjoyed thereselves and had fun. Since you're a well respected employee, maybe after you retire they will invite you back to ride with them next year.
yea, ron will make a great celebrity guest
