How far south can you go on a London bus?
Today we are seeing how far south you can go on a London bus.
We start your journey at Potters Bar which is the furthest place you can catch a London and by using just contactless I traverse the spine of London and see how far I can get to
No voiceover today, just the ambience of London seen through the lens of an iPhone and a DJI Pocket 2 camera!
Pay attention to the way the architecture (and space changes) as we head through Hadley Wood all the way down to the A406 North Circular then head West towards Ealing then venture south through Richmond, Kingston and then ending up with picturesque Dorking.
5 hour travel time, less than £5 in bus fare, let’s go!

The Class 810 Auroras are due to enter service from next year and they are to replace the Class 222 Meridian. I have been on the Class 222 Meridian trains and they are very nice trains but there isn’t much leg room in those trains.
What are best route regarding luggages rack into wagons. Was told that Gatwick Express have more space for large luggages and Carry-on. Right? Thanks for your video from a futur tourist of Montréal!
I took a taxi from my hotel to Victoria Station and got dropped off at a specific entrance to The Gatwick Express it was so simple
Hi! Do you mind helping me about two flights. How to arrive to the LGW airport at 06:00 (or before) on Saturday (the flight departs at 08:00)? How to arrive to the LTN airport at 05:30 (or before) on Saturday (the flight departs at 07:30)? I don't have my Host's Address yet (please suppose I'm in some Station of Central London) Thanks in advance!
Could you help me get from lcy to carburton street please
Shame it's gone for good, it was nice to have an alternative cheaper way to get to London if you weren't in a hurry, GWR are actually taking the piss on their prices
These lovely boris buses on the 313 ❤💚
This was good but I did think it was a bit misleading. There's little difference in journey time from Victoria-Gatwick using Gatwick Express to London Bridge-Gatwick on Thameslink. I guess you thought Thameslink was slower because on that you went on to St.Pancras, the far side of Central London. Incidently from Central London it would take at least twice as long to Gatwick by taxi.
Great video. Very useful.
I just subbed !! YAY !! Lol 💜
Oh ! I love your voice !! Very easy to listen to !! And so many good details you pointed out !! I love this video ! I love Hampstead ! I'd love to visit there, I might had back in '83 !! Lol.👏👏👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️🇬🇧🚈🚉💕💞
London Liverpool Street station is due to be redeveloped and rebuilt but I don’t think it will. Been to Liverpool Street lots of times.
Have siding at terminal 5 for elizabeth line when Heathrow express go beyond airport?
I say Heathrow express should beyond airport because it shorter elizabeth line it tunnel join south west trains track to Weybridge other branch Windsor Eaton it same as south west trains and quicker but different price elizabeth line to airport?
Interesting route, will try it next time I go to LCY
Good review. I have never travelled on this route so it's interesting to watch. Those first class seats look properly comfy. My experience with 158s is that they're quite comfortable by modern standards, but the engine noise is noticeable.
How about standard class?
Better luggage management is needed
This seems like a common theme then even after 2 years of service. It’s a shame as it is decent product
I've been on lumo but these trains need more luggage space
This seems like a common theme then even after 2 years of service. It’s a shame as it is decent product
Nice Video 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 , that have so much information in this video, that was useful 👏👏👏
6:39 kilometers? i thought you Britishers use miles just like the U.S. im Polish and we use kilometers as well 🤗
no, we use metric
im just afraid there's gonna be a bedlam i ain't rassling with em people im kinda leery 😨😨
Thanks I'm coming in Sept and this video helps
Have fun!
Gatwick Express should of ordered more Class 387/2s as some are with Southern and Great Northern used to hire couple of the Class 387/2s before they replaced them with the Class 387/3s from c2c and some were on hire with GWR.
Just what I needed for my trip tomorrow ☺️
Nice video - Thanks for showing.
Thanks for watching!
Thameslink is obviously better for it’s luggage racks, more space, larger network, more frequent service, comparable speed times, plug sockets, first class options and a newer modern train with the latest passenger information systems.
emr have first class options
You do know the dart costs about £5! And it replaces the free shuttle so that won’t be an option anymore. An absolutely rip off.
I have been waiting for DART since I recorded this video back in 2021. It’s taken ages! Last night I was driving through Luton and I saw how quiet the Parkway buses are now. Looking forward to trying it out, the airport really needed this
its less than double the price so its not the worst especially considering how much better it is, but still overpriced compared to things like the heathrow free transfer/pods
correction: i thought the shuttle was £2.70 but the video said it was £3.80, and if it was £3.80 then the dart is only £1.10 more
I have to 4r5ttyttttrrdèeèdddy
Cool video! Many thanks.
Glad you liked it!
This is an unfair comparison as Gatwick Express is a premium service that normally does not stop at East Croydon. You however have failed to compare it with Southern’s fast services between Victoria and the coast calling at Clapham Junction & East Croydon then Gatwick for much less than GX. I would have expected that to been discussed in this video even if you failed to travel on it.
You know what….? You are absolutely right! I cannot figure out why I didn’t include Southern in the conversation. I feel like on the day Gatwick Express covered Southern stop off at East Croydon so it just skipped my mind. Thanks for the comment, might do a follow up this summer
I thought Lumo train tickets were supposed to be cheap My wife and I are planning on short break to Glasgow, from Newcastle at the end of May, but unfortunately tickets are still not available to book. However, just looking at prices for early in April, as a comparison, Lumo (32.39) is much higher than LNER (£19.50) .. for 2 adults, with a Two Together railcard to Edinburgh We actually used LNER in November for a trip to London (or first train journey for 20+ years) and have already booked another trip to Edinburgh for March (again LNER) so we just fancied trying another company
Yeah I thought they were also as I’ve been trying to find those £20 one way tickets booking months in advance but they seemed to have disappeared
@@RonWandersOff Yes, something going on Looking on Lumo website for Newcastle to Edinburgh for Monday 17 April, a Lumo train showing at £37.80, with a cheapest note next to it. Also shown are Croos Country and Trans pennine at about £80 each. All LNER tickets are marked as sold. On LNER website, these are still available, the cheapest one being £15.50 (one of the ones Lumo say is sold out) I’ll not bee booking with Lumo if this is their way of doing things
Very good video as usual. Maybe do a flight review
The EMR Connect Class 360 Desiro are very nice. The Thameslink Class 700 are also as nice.
Off course Heathrow express is better than elizabeth line crossral. The prices of Heathrow express cost lot money 💷 it lose money 💷 most people use elizabeth line most people got oyster cards 🎴 it come from east london express only starts at west side Paddington Heathrow express need tunnel to Windsor & Eton other branch to aldershot join on South West trains tunnel from terminal 5 to Virginia Water then Heathrow express can't lose money it will be quicker tan sout west train to London and from. 15 mins from airport 30 min different branchs. What do think.
Well now with the Elizabeth line running from east through London, I reckon most people wouldn’t mind transferring at Paddington and save money versus Express
What's the camera bro?
DJI Pocket 2

It was Bristol parkway as there was no curves and no roof so you lied.
👏👏👏
Just letting you know that you pulled into Bristol Temple Meads, not parkway :)
👏👏👏
London City Airport is my nearest airport
hey I have booked a ticket online . but the ticket doesn't show the platform number and train number. I'm a new comer to UK. what to do?
It won’t do as it can change at any time. The departure will update telling you which platform will be used. Enjoy your trip to London!
@@RonWandersOff thankyou. Great video.
158880 was 158737 before
South West Trains livery I liked
Is that in St. Pancras Station?
It’s at Kings Cross which is opposite St Pancras
Are there lifts at the airport and along the route? I'm going to be coming to LCY via ZRH from DXB with quite a heavy suitcase and backpack soon, and transiting through London using public transport.
So…all DLR stations are step free and will have lifts according to TFL. Pretty sure I walked past the lift at LCY Station. Couldn’t find anything on the website about lifts at the airport so I either you don’t need it as it is all on one level or it is so obvious that they didn’t list it on their website. Safe travels though!
They don't accept travelcards because Southeastern charge TfL passengers extra for using it.
You totally lost me. I just want to travel from Earl’s Court Station to the airport. (Not Heathrow) but London City Airport.
This route is slightly different….this would be Earls Court (District Line) -> Monument/Bank (Change to DLR) and you will be taking the train heading towards Woolwich Arsenal
Nobody has the answer right in the comments. It would be a very niche method to go to Morpeth Station from Newcastle Airport since heck, Newcastle Station is closer, and I can't imagine Morpeth Station would have much of a market for that... The main reason I suspect (and have heard) is because Lumo had to register with National Rail and its alliance in order to use the railway and its stations. This means coming to agreements with serving stations that aren't served by other lines. Now, London to Edinburgh (aka the East Coast Main Line) is already served by LNER, so the company likely had to add a station like Morpeth in to create an incentive for National Rail to approve them to join the alliance, since it's not commonly served by LNER. Perhaps the incentive was that it's a train service that serves the Northumberland area from London, and that Northumberland doesn't get much service from London currently. It's also the reason they likely couldn't stop at York, which would be useful to allow people at that part of North England to access the service, considering it's a major railway station in North England. Stopping at York would mean they would steal some of the customers from LNER, and I imagine National Rail wouldn't approve that. Short answer: agreements and compromises needed to be on the National Rail network
You know what…. this sounds very plausible. Looking at the maps, Morpeth is a good 20 miles or 1hr 15m by public transport with 2 connections and it doesn’t have an express bus so it’s doesn’t really sound like an airport connection. Think I’ll have to get up there and “investigate” myself in a future video
