Thanks for this guide. Decided to service a very old Sony Vaio laptop (2010 I think) but it handles windows 10 surprisingly well (apart from the battery not charging), so I thought it was worth re-pasting. Not sure I woulda tried without this video. Just hope temps are ok when I got it back in one piece.

I did it, thaks do much. Faced problem while pulling the fan connector, I didn't know how to do it, but I just pulled it gently and pushed it while connecting haha.

i did this process and the fan worked fine but now my screen wont come on any ideas please what iove done wrong?????

Thanks for the video! I have a question - Is it compulsory to apply a new layer of heating compound when replacing the fan? Or can you simply remove the fan, clean heatsink/fan/vents and then screw it back on? Thanks!

so there is no way to remove dust from the fan without taking out the heat sinks from the cpu and reapplying thermal paste is a must...

hi, thanks for your video. yesterday i removed the CPU heatsink and serviced the fan, applied new thermal paste etc. however the result is not that good. CPU temperature is still around 50 degree at idle, and around 60 degree when watching any youtube video, cpu fan almost running all the time. I was hoping after cleaning the heatsink would do a better job like when it was new, so that the fan does not need to kick in and operate (which is noisy) most of the time. what is the normal CPU temperature on your machine? is the fan operating often?

Sony Vaio laptops are junk I just got rid of mine. Took out memory and HDD and threw the rest in the dumpster. Fan noise and heat. Junk it and buy a new laptop.

In my case it seems impossible the old solder is too chewy too strong, even after focusing with hot air the weld doesn't seem even to bright a bit Im just getting crazy

dreadful design-the worst machine to strip-just to get to a fan,the cables and duct tape come fry after exposure to air,the screw sizes are all mis-labelled on the chassis,cheap brittle plastic which cracks if wrong pressure is applied,if the fan overheats,toss this crap away
