Renée Fleming Porgi Amor 1994
Sorry about the sound level etc. This was my introduction video to the world of Renée Fleming and I think it needs to be available here on YT.
The best version of this IMHO @th-cam.com/video/8GS1T2U8K8w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bCjH8sg3-rOxBstB

Don´t try this at Nils Holgerssons Värld! This was filmed at an amusementpark in Sweden where they have a lot of replicas of famous buildings. Trying to follow her little sister into one of the small houses she did not get very far...Mama, mama I´m stuck! she shouts. As this was just the day after having seen the film about Alice you`d think she should know better - right!? Linda försöker följa...
IMHO one of the very best video recordings available of Otello ... Renée is not only great is the high floating notes of Act 4 (although at 9:34 you can feel exactly what I mean), but also able to convey incredible dramatic power in the 'confrontation scenes of Act 3 ... I think her dramatic engagement can only be compared with Scotto in video recordings (In Met prod with Vickers) ... Renée was not only able so sing 'like an angel' as suggested by some critics, she was actually also a great interpreter with incredible dramatic power as many live recordings show us (as an example have a look on this private video recording of Faust with Ramey where both of them 'give it all' in the super dramatic Faust 'church scene' th-cam.com/video/dkRO6I8teps/w-d-xo.html ) ... NO Renée is not only a "beautiful voice" but also a great performer on stage ;)
@@Classicvideofan Oh Yes to everything you mentioned! Her acting skills developing even more during her period of personal strifes around 98-99. Her intelligent way of using her instrument for the most effectual and expressive outcome is extraordinary. Mostly though still keeping a beautiful tone. Also her vibrato is outstanding. In folk songs for instant you would never guess… It is a tiny bit slower today in classical singing but always perfect through the line till last sound. Perfect time stamp! Thanks! She knows how to build up for an outburst. Also the final of Adieu, notre petite table is always thrilling even in 2020. The energy in her voice up until maybe the mid 20s is just so enthralling to say the least. And this scene exhibit many of her qualities and the prayer is just heavenly Gorgeous. I thought this needed to be available here. Sorry about the quality but I might try again some day. Thank you for commenting!
Horrid
The Renneisms lol. But still she’s something. This was kinda made for her.
Love this lady's voice and the life she brings to the characters she plays.❤ 🙏
Que maravillosa interpretación.!!
They're both in fine form, but I don't care for the arrangement. It didn't need an arrangement...the song is sublime as it was composed. I listened to it 3 times waiting for it to grow on me. It didn't. But they both sound great.
Thank you for your comment! It did grow on me that’s why I posted. I’m thankful we are all different. What a boring experience this would be otherwise.😊
@@chaan280 I completely agree
@@piacere1687 Can’t translate I’m afraid.
In this and in Thaïs, Rusalka, Countess -- the full lyric roles -- she was absolutely unbeatable.
Agreed💖

@@chaan280 The old railway clock!
Is there anywhere is can watch the full video of the concert ??❤ no one compares to Renee love her 🎉
I would love to know too
This is even more beautiful than her studio recording. Hard to believe! ❤
I almost always find her live performances at another level.
You are SO right!!
É de beleza ímpar
👍💖♥️👌♥️💖👏
Magnifique. Beauté. Pureté. Perfection.
Α goddess of song ❤!
Yes! Diva in the true sense of the word!
You are so right!
Beautiful Renée at her finest!!!
But when was this actual performance filmed, though? This couldn't have been the one from 1995 that Beverly Sills was speaking of?
It is. October 1995. Probably not opening night though. It was telecast in January 1996.
@@chaan280There's another clip of her here on TH-cam singing "Ave Maria" from apparently the same footage because she, the costume & the set down to the bed sheets all looked exactly the same, but it has the year "2012" in the title. Since Google says she's currently 65 y/o, that would put her age in 2012 ito be in the early 50s, which is more consistent with whom I'm seeing now. But the other channel then claims that this performance was just 3 weeks after she gave birth to her 2nd daughter so that should have been in the 90s when she'd have been in her 30s having babies. Lol. Antways, I also think from the video/audio quality alone, it definitely screams early 2010s to me. But I guess my main thing here is that if rhis wasn't it, since I've only recently gotten interested in her (through this clip of yours actually!! it's' now my 4th or so visit lol), I'd really love to see and hear her sing this role when she was at her peak prime when the opera world just witnessed a new star soprano begin to shine.
@@Dr__Feelgood Love your interest and curiosity! There is a clip on YT from another performance in 2012, that’s correct but this is from her premiering the role in 1995 with Placid Domingo. She had just given birth to her second daughter Sage. She was 36. 😊
@@chaan280 Oh wow, that's either a compliment or the opposite for her. 🤪 Maybe she was just born looking that way and never changed lol. She's a vampire. 😈 That explains it all 🤣. And the Met just recyvles everything it can including their bed sheets to save their precious beggar money. All understandable.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You just get better and better bless you 😂 👣👏
Above all the great sound quality. Thanks!
Such an interesting arrangement harmonically. And Fleming sounds impossibly fresh and beautiful vocally. ❤. Exquisite.
Agreed 100% ! Full blown artistry from both of them.
I wish she would wear her hair “natural” more often while performing. (The way we see it at the beginning of this clip!)
Très beau! Je suis ému ❤
💎
First time I heard Oh quand je dors's 1st version, as I've just found out from my surprise. Gorgeous version ideally sung & piano accompanied. Exquisite. Thank you so much!
You are very welcome! Agreed and it grows with every listen.
What a wonderful collaboration between two great music interpreters. What gift to us! Thank you!!
Yes! Glad you appreciate it!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Of course, thank you!
Stunning, beautiful, excellent !
You can´t sing this aria more beautiful than Renee Fleming, it´s impossible....
Absolute truth in my book too.
Try to listen Virginia Zeani.
Year? Venue?
2002, Théâtre du Châtelet
THIS is the Renee Fleming I ADORE! That creamy beautiful velvety middle voice, thrilling high notes, and baritone like chest tones! This woman is a miracle!
YES!!! Her voice was a miracle but I do enjoy her expressive today too. To not compare is the answer and just enjoy for different reasons.
Most exquisite singing! And I'm used to Callas singing this, and she really makes us tremble, like Louise! THis is better than the one with Levine that I find a bit too slow...
this is what true talent looks like and of course sounds like!!!!
This just proves if you watch your voice like Ms.Fleming you can sing like this . She sounds fresh and beautiful.
Magnificent!!!
Agreed💯
When was this recorded?
In 2002 I believe.
@@chaan280 I ask because she looks so different in this video, can't tell whether much younger looking or much older looking, but very different, for instance, in contrast to that elegant video where she sings Casta Diva. She sure is the complete package: a superb soprano and such a beautiful lady.
@@Reinaldo146 Okay, but yes this is a younger Renée. 43 years old and in her absolute prime.
assoluta !! ❤️❤️❤️
Gorgeous, Renée!!!
Through and through❣️
Was this before or after the attacks?
This was aired January 4, 2001.
Really lovely.
