Foodsaver V2830: How to access the locking mechanism behind the right panel.

FoodSaver Has Low Suction
มุมมอง 89K8 ปีที่แล้ว
The pumps in food savers sometimes get clogged with food particles or the gasket dries out and leaks air. This unit is a V2830 but various other units have similar style pumps. My camera shifted the video upside down and sideways several times without my realizing it so I was disappointed in the quality after rotating those shots but it still turned out OK.

FoodSaver Repair

Repair a FoodSaver that isn't drawing out air anymore. In this case, its not the pump, its the pressure release valve. Also check out my video about fixing the pump at th-cam.com/video/lBEr5W55Onw/w-d-xo.html

Try cleaning the two oval seals on the top that seal around the bag. They can be replaced for about $9.

Those seals can certainly leak air if they get cracked or have food caked on them. Thanks you the reminder.

Just a thought, the vinyl tubing will harden with age and sometimes start leaking at the fittings if disturbed. If you have to take the tubing off of a fitting, you can heat it with a hot air gun to soften the tubing making it easier to remove. Most good hardware or home improvement stores carry replacement vinyl tubing. The short piece of tubing to the pump should have been removed, it would have made it much easier to work on the pump and also remove and reinstall the motor hold down. My Foodsaver needs this maintenance, that's why I watched this video instead of going out to buy a new one.

Hi Kelly - awesome video and channel. I have a V835 and a family member inadvertently used the food saver container filled with OatFlour to seal it without using the coffee filter. Now my food saver won’t seal. Do you think my food saver is clogged with flour? What do you suggest I do? Should I try and take it apart and clean it like one does when it’s clogged with food particles? Hope you’re able to reply. Thanks in advance

Man, I wish you did instructional videos on everything in life. This is probably the most thorough instructional video I’ve ever watched on anything. If I could offer any advice at all, I would say, go ahead and invest in a stand or something for your phone where you don’t have to hold it and you can use both your hands at the same time.but I gave it a light before I even got halfway through it so I didn’t forget. Thanks man.

I have FoodSaver V2490 that is doing the exact same thing. When I saw your video, I was optimistic I could fix it but the screws to disassemble are not at the same place. I only have 3 screws on the bottom of the unit that are visible. Would you have any suggestions on how to take this one apart to clean the vacuum valve?

I'm not familiar with that model and didn't see any pictures that would help me Don't be afraid to try some things. Definitely look under any stickers and they like to hide them under the rubber feet too. Sometimes you need to slip a screwdriver along the seam and get some inside snap connectors to release.

I know it's an old video but Thanks ! The take away for everyone who owns any vacuum sealer is don't use it on liquids. This includes meat with blood and liquid. Freeze the meat overnight before sealing it. Freeze soups in a shallow container and then seal it. Most people don't read the instructions that come with the sealer. The number one cause of failure is liquid ingestion. Save yourself a lot of headaches and money. Just an FYI !

@@kellykimble4047 yes I used to also fold a half paper towel at the opening of the bag to catch liquid. It looks nasty but it works. Then I just decided to pre freeze anything " juicy " , lol.

Hi, I just finished watching all of your FoodSaver videos & there great! I'm sure I'll be using them in the future. I was wondering if you'd ever tried to work on or replace the heat strip?

    • @kellykimble4047
      @kellykimble4047 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I have repaired the heat strip. I wanted to do a video on repairing it. The problem tends to be that the springs start to build resistance, then they heat up and burn out. I first tried to clean the bad spring and that worked for a couple months. After that I just pulled it tight and gave up on the spring. It's been working for years now after I fixed that.

Kelly et el, Question: V2865: The Automatic Vacuum does not STOP sucking to then go to Seal. Tho, They both work Manually. After watching both of your videos, im confused. Could it be like in this video, its the back part where the spring is. Would a broken spring affect the AUTOMATIC vacuum & seal? Or, in the second video is it the small piece by the pump? I believe its not stopping vacuuming and not getting to seal because its not registering the pressure. Or, could there be an airflow leak? I have put new gaskets on. That did not solve the problem. Im older and its a bit hard for me to take it apart so I would like your best guess as to which I should tackle first. Again, its just the Automatic process that doesnt go from vacuum to seal because the vacuum doesnt stop. Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much Kelly! I was looking for a replacement for my V2240 when I came across your video. My trusty 15 year old vacuum sealer had given up the ghost; no sign of power, no LEDs on; nothing. Once I saw in your video that two screws were hidden under the rubber feet of my unit it came apart easily. I checked the fuse, wiggled the power connectors, used a toothpick to test the door lock micro-switch and looked everything over for liquids and/or food. All looked good so I assumed an electronic component had failed and buttoned the unit back up to dispose of it. Plugged it in to the AC one final time and "Voila"! Everything powered up and it again vacuums and seals just like it did when I first bought it. I must have had a poor contact somewhere that is now corrected, for the time being at least. Thank you for taking the time to post this video!

So glad I found this video. My food saver model fm 2016 is not even 6 months old would not completely draw out all air nor automatically seal like it once did. I knew that mine being so new couldn't have caked on or accumulated much debris yet but by you pointing out that hole inside the food saver I took a can of canned air and blew it thru that hole and the accessory port and now everything is in working order gain, it even goes into automatic sealing when the vacuum is done. Whew. Glad it's fixed but wouldn't have been if not for your video!

The newer ones use weird half pan head screws, to remove them grind a small screwdriver in the middle of the blade to make the tool. Replace with similar size Phillips screws to make future service easier. You can add a medical filter in line to protect the pump.and sensor.

Wonderful; if this doesn't work; wet the foam seals with soapy water, as they get porous when they get old, if the soapy water makes the seals work, then you found another issue and you can order new seals for around 6 dollars. Or you can just wet them with soapy water every time.
