Just some more testing and learning. I'm finding out that manually flying doesn't give you smooth shots all the time. All in all though kinda cool.

The ATF type 54 application asks for local/state permit numbers before issuing you a permit. To get a local permit in the state of North Carolina you have your ATF Type 54 permit before applying. Talk about a catch 22. They won't give you an answer as how to circumvent this also. I guess you have would have to get your ATF 54 in another state before applying in NC for local permits? This is wild.
Dumb question i know ahouldnt ask but what if ur a felon for something stupid... just say no i cant lol
did you happen to record you doing the fusing from before did you have black match or visco leader fuse? would like to see a video of the fuse lighting from the lift charge
Am I allowed to have a magazine and a ATF FEL TYPE 54 License in the state of California?
I would think that once the shell exploded, it would want to take the wire with it and yank out the wire from the module?? Cool concept, just seems like a lot of extra work to want to fire individually from the system.
I have one question… will they allow me to store fireworks in an ATF Approved storage container somewhere in a shed away from any houses or buildings near by? Hypothetically let’s say I live in a neighborhood, will I still be able to get my license or would it be best to get the contingency storage plan?
Do i have to get permision from an airport to shoot off in a feild thats next to the airport...even if the runway is further out from feild and they only come in landing that way
If i get my atf for 1.3 do i need another license to purchase 1.4 pro line or will the other firework retailers that sell and ship 1.4 pro alow me to use ny atf license
So are you aloud the next day to bring back to a contengincy storage . If the fireworks place is closed after you take them and dont shoot and have to go to work in morning are you ok Is it 24 hours from the time you pick it up...or is it 24 hours meaning i picked it up at 8pm monday and you have to have it there on tuesday But what if because 4th and there closed What if you pick it up 9am dont light it go to work in morning get out at 30m and then return it still ok even though it more than 24as more like 31
Does the license allow you to buy outsude of us and import to be shipped to your address or import to pjck up and transport
1. The job box..what did you do to improve it to the atf regulations? 2. If you are storing more than 50 pounds or the particular 1.3g arent 50 pounds but are big or bulky and don't all fit in 1 box are you aloud to have more than 1 job box? 3 also mine will be outside so do i need it bolted down or is it ok to be on dirt? 4.it's in the open so do i need it hidden in another regular shed? 5 As far as distances it says 150 feet all around but you had yours 100 feet so are they leniant in that? A. So i live next to an empty feild, but it has a baseball diamond next to house of feildside but it is rarely used anymore. Job box will be in the northeast corner of my backyard. Feild is on the north and baseball diamond is on the west feild side but on the northside of the house the feild also has the airport on northside of the feild but distance is far from backyard. Theres a park on east side of the feild. And theres a hill going downhill to east and the street on the bottom of the hill where cars park for park and house next to park. The other sides are the front of house facing west and patio and garage next to backyard facing south with neighbors yard on southside of the garage. 6. Do you think they will be aggresive on the distances as far as the baseball diamond park and parking for tge park at bottom of hill. 7. Do you think it matters near a airport? 8. So the question is they aloud yours at 100 feet bexause maybe you have a lot of land even though it says its supose to be 150 feet but mine is not going to be the same all around with 2 sides maybe being good but with airport and park on otgerside and patio garage and house being in way of othersides Do you think theyll still be ok seeing hiw i dont think ill being storing them all year just before 4th and if i dont use for some reason ill either light tgem off somwe day after that or store until new years but definitely wont be stored all year until 4th the next year? 9. What are the state and city permits or munical places i need to check on...i live in wisconsin? 10. Also what are distances for lighting them off safely or minimun safe distance and with 1.3 can they break windows if there close ? 11. how do i fill out paperwork if they are being fired off in to different addresses and city with same countys just stored at 1 address...do i need a job box at other address as well or can i just bring them over the night of the shoot? 12. Does a person also need a insurance to light off 1.3 the otger address is in a non gated but couldrasack type area of holmes with certain rules...do i need permision from them as well or give notice of risk we already shoot fireworks tgere for past 10 years so they know and the blocks around shoot stuff off anyways but kind of worried on spectators houses safety plus we light on a walk path that borders a pond. The pond is a oval that is in middle with pathway arouns all of it with all the houses back yard on all sides of the pond? 13. Do i need to fill out on aplication for license that i may shoot off in 2 different places or is it only for buying transporting and where ill be storing?
Reasons Ohio sucks, I have to literally have every certificate known to the pyro world before I can even apply for my 54
Hey Phill! Trying to figure out how to direct message you, but I don’t see your information/that ability?
Could I still apply if Ariel’s are illegal where I live?
yes. the license is strictly for purchasing product. It has nothing to do with shooting them off.
I’m 20 n live in il that’s n illegal state for fireworks I’m wondering if I call up fire marshal n ask shit is my ass going to like fuck myself
Maybe am trying to get some 1.3g for next year but they are illegal where I live so idk if u can get it lmk if you find out
This license is strictly for purchasing 1.3 product. it has absolutely nothing to do with lighting off the fireworks. you can shoot fireworks off in states that are illegal as long as you follow the rules. Most states require you to go through safety training. to shoot legally. you will need to get certified as a shooter, have permission to shoot at the location you want to shoot from. You will most likely have to have a documented safety plan in place, pay for the local fire department to be on hand, have fireworks insurance in place. to follow all the rules is extremely expensive. most people can not afford to shoot off legally. you will be spending thousands of dollars just to be legal to shoot off a few fireworks. basically you will have to follow the same rules that the major municipalities follow when they do a fireworks show like for the 4th of July.
Does anyone know if you need a permit or license for California ?
Just to be clear since I’m in the process of getting a 1.3g firework license I wanted to ask a few questions. It seems like a magazine is optional as long as you have contingency storage.Does the ATF interview you after turning in your paperwork? And do you submit a email to your 1.3g provider approving you for contingency storage?Sorry about all the questions I just want to make sure I’m doing things correctly.
Yes if you can't have an on prem magazine, you get a contingency letter from the place you plan on purchasing your 1.3g fireworks from. Just shoot them an email explaining your submiting the paperwork to obtain your Type 54 and will be looking to purchase product from them once approved. Send that letter in with your application. This is a very easy process as the vendor is always looking for new customers to sell to so they have no problem sending you the letter to provide to the ATF. Yes the ATF will schedule a visit to your home to interview you in person.
You mentioned there is no table of distances for an indoor magazine. Is there documentation stating this? I have an inspection coming up is why I ask.
I just got my fingerprints card done...i have a 2x2 pic also....when i go to mail it out should i put a money order in the envelope?....This is my first time applying for this....I also live in michigan.....Where do i mail the envelope to?....Any help is greatly appreciated.
I’ll be sending my app in the next week or so. Thank you for the great information.
If I’m starting a firework small business selling fireworks do I need this ATF? Or any license at that

Do you need a permit in Michigan to light 1.3?
What are the requirements for type 4 storage if it’s inside a shed. Does it need to be a set distance from day a house? I’m on a standard 8500sq ft city lot
indoor magazines, type 4, have no tables of distance. They just can not be stored in your residence
I've had these and there no joke. You can feel it in your chest
Thanks for making this video! Did you sign your original permit when you received it? Or just sign copies of it? I have heard people say not to sign the original only sign copies, not sure which is right or wrong to do?
I did not sign my original. Reason being if you sign the original, then you are not signing it in the presence of the supplier that you are registering with. Technically when you buy your product, you are supposed to sign it in their presence. Not sure if it really matters since you also have to give them a photo id as well. Every vendor that you purchase 1.3 product from will require a signed copy of your type 54 license as well as a copy of your photo id.
@@fireworksphill6640 Thanks for the verification!!
I am also having trouble figuring out the local and state laws needed for actually using these. I am currently in Oregon and am having trouble getting a clear answer on this. The other thing is do I have to add the people/business involved in my contingency plan on the responsible person(s) page?
to the best of my knowledge, you do not need to add the business that will do your contingency storage as they are already licensed to do so. The responsible persons is for yourself and anyone else that you want to be able to handle the fireworks for you. These are people who may have to handle the fireworks, but do not have the type 54 for purchasing. The type 54 license is for purchasing product only.
Here is a link I found. It appears to me that you need to take a safety course, and also get permits to shoot off your 1.3 product. They do allow you to light of some types of retail or consumer fireworks. This link should answer your questions: www.oregon.gov/osp/programs/sfm/Pages/Fireworks.aspx
how much did your explosive magazine cost, I have seen them priced around 10,000 - 25,000 dollars online, seems expensive
I paid about $300 for it. It is nothing more than a construction site job box for storing tools on the job. It is considered a type 4, indoor magazine. I am limited to 50 lbs of pyro weight. Pyro weight is the weight of just the explosive powder. I painted the inside of it with a rubber paint and purchased the appropriate locks for it. It is only rated for low explosives. Here is a link to the one that I used. It currently is listed for about $400 www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-48-in-W-x-24-in-D-x-28-5-in-H-Universal-Storage-Chest-RB48/317120115
Hello. I love this video. So informative. Question though…what kinds of quest are asked during the interview as far as having storage?? So I live in an apt currently but I have proper storage at my other house. I keep those RIGID type containers…I’m just curious what I would respond with if they asked me or if living in an apt could anyway cause me to not get it?? I live in ct.
You will be asked how to store them. Most people do not have a magazine and use contingency storage, meaning some one else who already has atf approved storage will store them for you. Usually it is the place of business where you purchase them from. They are already storing the product. They continue to store the product until you pick it up. You can store it in the job box once the atf has approved it and given you your magazine numbers
Phil if you have a1.3 permit how often does the ATF visit their permit holders? Do they call or just show up knocking on your door?
I was originally licensed in April of 2018. The next visit was in Nov. of 2021. That was the required visit in order for them to go over my records, update my file for renewal. I received my renewal for another 3 years. Recently, late June 2022 of this year, they tried to do a surprise visit while I was at work. Kind of funny as they came during the day, but my hours of operations was listed in the evening hours.....6-9pm. Guess atf doesn't do those hours. They ended up having to make arrangements for when I was home. Come to find out, they have hired some new agents and decided to do some surprise visits for training.
Phil thanks for the information. Do you have a magazine on your property? I don't have one myself. I have only done one transaction so far that I put my records in a fireproof lockbox. Also it seems on the 4th when I mix the 1.3 with the 1.4(I'm in Pennsylvania)Noone says a word about it because I use 3 inch shells primarily. Has that been your experience? It's fairly lax on the 4th in my area thank God. 😊 Also thanks for your videos!
@@sawsickness I do have an indoor type 4 magazine on my property, in a storage shed. I generally only shoot the 4th of july, (show) which generally lasts approximately 1 hour. I do randomly test shells every now and then, but when I do that, it's just that, a couple of shells. no lengthy show.

Hi Gabriel. Yes you are close to me. I'm in the Irish Hills area. I purchase most of my product from Ace Pyro. www.acepyro.com/ They are just on the west edge of Saline. They are great to deal with. Their website actually guided me through the whole process. They sell a lot of 1.3 product as well as consumer product also. All you have to do is tell them you are applying for your type 54 license and that you need a letter of contingency storage. They will be happy to accommodate you.

Very helpful video. Sadly I found out after getting fingerprinted and getting ready to send the forms off I realized I had to apply for my state (Georgia) license first and it is prohibitively expensive. So maybe someday I will move to a state that will let me finish the type 54.
Great video, thank you.

Hi Phil, I am currently working on my class 54. I had a question for you.. I am currently located in Michigan - question is: do you need to have a permit to fire 1.3 from local townships etc? I am not doing anything big just putting on a better show for friends and family.
I shoot on the 4th of July, on my own property. If you are on public property, you are supposed get a permit, which then will require notifying the local authorities as well as the local fire dept. You will need fireworks insurance, set up plan as well as a safety plan. All that gets really expensive. just the insurance alone will be a few thousand just for 24 hours.
Can u show the example records sheet thank you
Here is a link to 1.3 fireworks questions answered. th-cam.com/video/T78DEaSz3Yc/w-d-xo.html At 11:50 in the video I start talking about the forms. At 13:50 in the video I show a couple of examples I made of the forms. Hope this helps.
I really appreciate you making this video. You made it easy for guys like me who aren't particularly good at filling out paperwork. Thanks brother.
