    How often do you usually replace your bar and chain?

    • @mountainmancody415
      @mountainmancody415 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      a brand new chain will last all day if you don't put it in the dirt or get unlucky and hit spikes, i normally go through 2 chains a day i usually have about 6 with me and when i use the last one i sharpen them. Bars can last a long time if you keep up with maintenance, i have a bar roller and a file that every so often i clean my bar up. a lot of big trees if you don't cut right will bend your bar

    • @JoshJacobs-ul6kp
      @JoshJacobs-ul6kp 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is there an adjustment process after replacing the chain? I replaced the chain on purpose machine and it’s SUUUUPER tight.

    • @mountainmancody415
      @mountainmancody415 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JoshJacobs-ul6kp most of the time you push the bar in and put chain on they are tight when you first get them but after you use it they start to loosen up. seems like some are tighter than others prob just the way the chain was made

    • @mountainmancody415

      i believe its short do to elevation and lack of moisture in the air, i used to live in washington state and a tree half the age of these ones are 150ft tall so that would be my guess

    If the auto feed starts feeding before the bar is out of the way, your bar sensor is definitely broken or not calibrated. Also I notice that the engine stalls horribly when you start sawing or feeding. Goes from 1750 RPM to 1000 RPM. And that is not normal. Should get your pumps adjusted and all the pressures checked on the hydraulics. Even the Ponsse Fox (which I run) doesnt stall like that when feeding a bigger tree and its a significantly smaller machine with only one work pump whereas the Ergo has two work pumps (One for the boom and one for the harvester head)

    • @mountainmancody415
      @mountainmancody415 ปีที่แล้ว

      i went through and got everything calibrated so it works since 6 months ago, i ended up just turning it off because most of the trees i cut are crooked and i don't get more than 1 or 2 saw logs out of a tree if any.

  • @JohannesArm

    that year ponsse ergos have super powerful cranes and head, some say that you can pull the harvester onto its side with the feed rollers

    Wow, incredibly cool. Thanks for uploading this. Next on the bucket list is to see one in action in person. I’m curious - what do the species buttons do? Only cut trees of that species?

    • @mountainmancody415
      @mountainmancody415 ปีที่แล้ว

      in the computer you can set up different strengths of the knives and power of the saw depending on what kind of tree species it is, for example if you are cutting oak or hard woods you would want more power going towards your clamping and cutting power, i just do fire mitigation and mainly cut lodge pole and pine some fir and spruce

    It depends on what you’re using for chain. You may have to go with a bigger chain/sprocket setup. I’m not sure if you can run 19H or 3/4 pitch chain. 19H is pretty durable and seems to last longer in dusty or burnt wood. Maybe look in the service manual for the head and see if you can use a different chain.
