I remember entering the city for the first time and feeling...melancholy. A grand city reduced to a husk of what once was, under the shadow of the imposing, golden Erdtree. No citizens walk the streets. Only soldiers of a lost order. Moving through the city I remember seeing so much ash and decay against the golden luster of the rooftops. The great Dragon corpse of Gransax sitting atop a large swath of the city. Eventually I made my way to the capital building, defeated the golden husk of Godfrey, slew the Black Knife Assassin that guarded the Queen's Bedchamber, and settled at its site of grace. I stayed in Marika's bedchamber for quite a while and just couldn't get over the feeling of sadness. There was no life here. Queen Marika lay within the Erdtree, eternally captive for her shattering of the Elden Ring. The stone tablets of her Golden Order piled high on her bed only to collect dust and crumble in the breeze. The music, faint but following me as I walked to the outside balcony and presided over the Lands Between, mourned. Marika remains an elusive but enticing figure to me in Elden Ring. I never finished the game, mostly because I just got tired of it, but the wandering questions I have about her have kept me invested in the lore. Thanks to Vaatividya, the lorekeeper of Elden Ring on TH-cam, some of my questions have been answered. Still, I wish there was a cutscene of us and Marika, or of just Marika herself, set before the shattering. What must her Golden Order have been like? We shall never know...

I am two years late, but the campfire sounds honestly quite nice.

I like how during some points it’s very reminiscent of that firelink/roundtable hub area type music but then instead of resolving they play a tritone to remind you the place you’re in is brimming with evil

I wonderb why they dont give "SPECIAL" vibes for 2H Sword and Axe. The 1H sword have the dragon in golden dragon the axe have buddha in karma. The 1H version are so much better

The only place that i feel completely safe in the whole game. Although the Cleanrot Knight that waits the door is enemy to us, i always have a feeling like he or she is actually protecting the room while im waiting with Millicent for people to summon me.

This is probably one of my favourite locations in Elden Ring. The gloomy sky, rain and gigantic architecture combined together with the very solemn and ancient souding soundtrack make for such a unique, unparalleled ambiance. Every time I go through this place, I feel like i'm truly on the path to godhood haha - i could hang out there for hours honestly <3 - Thanks a ton for the video mate!
