Good to have another video from you man. I love these Peco kits. They’re so satisfying to build and paint. I think they’re great value although a fiver? Wow good work. I’m like you and paint things separately for the most part. I tend to use a light grey primer spray can to kick things off, just to save me having to put too many top coats on! Enjoyed the video and watching your process
Nice work!
Hi A great little wagon kit build, try and do some more they are fun...lol I've done a few of the various Peco ones over the years, they are quite easy, relelitively cheap and fun to make and paint. Don't worry about wonky transfers, we all do that from time to time...lol. Its a good way to build up your rolling stock at not a huge cost these days. Thanks
Whatever bad things happens in our lives, just one thing never forget keep it up and go on!
I've had the same problem with the weight not being exactly central... and also gave up trying to use those tiny nuts!
Love this series - beginner perfect and how many start out. Looking for my first n scale set myself. (new sub today from AUS)
Hey, you're back. I hope you're safe and well.
Your back
The corners do as they do in tv studios. Put a curve , as they do with the floors. Great set up . Me, trying to get started. I did put video on TH-cam but lighting is a tad dark.
Thank you for showing your weathering on your wagons. It was very interesting and informative, I guess you model in N gauge, I have been thinking about changing to N gauge for a long time now. Thank you once again for a great channel and Best wishes from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. 👍🚂
Hi there. No problem, I'm glad you found it informative! Yes, I model in N Gauge, I have made a small shelf layout which you can see towards the end of the video. It is definitely worth a look if you're coming from OO scale... you can fit so much more in the same space!
For large cable spools, you could use a sewing bobbin. These are plastic and about 20mm overall diameter withan 8mm external diameter shaft. You just need disguise the ends to make them look wooden.
Hi there... it is interesting you say that as I originally looked at bobbins. However, for N gauge they are all way too big. The little pieces I made are about 5mm in overall diameter, they're tiny!
I think no driver would want to take out a lorry onto the road with that much dirt on the windscreen. I think you need to remove a lot more of weathering to look realistic.
Enjoyed your video. Thank you
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
Enjoyed your video
Thanks very much!
Omg! This is just brilliant 🤗. My logo is a birthday present this year, arriving in April 2024. I simply can't wait! You have really inspired me. Your layout and detailing are fantastic. Thank You so very much for taking the time to put this content out.
I am about to embark on N gauge myself. My partner has done model railways and now I'm hooked too😃. Smashing videos. Many thanks👍
welcome back and nice work on your layout!
Thank you, I appreciate your comment!
Please don’t apologise for not posting if you have been dealing with things. Your life offline is important so glad you’re doing better. It’s looking great.
Thank you... that's nice to hear. Hopefully things will keep improving in the future.
Good to see you back, I love your style, hope this year goes better for you 🙂 "Ever drilled a glory hole" ffs... 😂
Haha, glad you enjoyed it. It is hard to know if the humour is going to land but at least some people get it!
Good to see you back, sorry to hear you have had a rough year, Take Care And we look forward to the next ep!
Thank you, the next episode is close to being complete in terms of filming, should begin editing it soon!
Good to see you back.
Thank you!
Awesome! You are inspiring to watch. Your attention to detail is incredible. Thank you. Your videos keep me going and I refer back as I build.
Ah sweet that is great... It means a lot that you are finding them useful.
Nice to see you back! Great little update, lighting is often over looked, but you covered it nicely. I have often thought of lighting, and will probably use a dimmer to control the light intensity so it can be altered for filming or for home use. All the best Tony.
Thanks Tony! Yes, I think a dimmer switch / potentiometer would have been good for my layout too. Since the making of this video, a pair of the LEDs have blown out so I think I will need to increase the resistance again!
Tag board. Pleased to see further progress on your charming railway.
Yes, tag board that is it! I'll see if I am annotate that into the video somehow. Thanks for your help and your nice comment!
Well, you set the bar high with a clip from one of the best films ever made (with, incidentally, one of the best soundtracks) but you didn't disappoint 😊 Nice to see you back, I think I subscribed shortly after the previous video, but I enjoyed going back through your older ones, lots of good stuff. Sorry it's been a crap year last year, hope life gives you an easier time in 2024. All the best and thanks, very enjoyable update 👍
Thanks very much, glad you like the Sunshine intro! The main theme in that film is one of my favourites... the whole thing has a great atmosphere and all the actors put in a great performance. I particularly like the Captain!
Cac your do a locomotive collection vedeo please thanks for coming back
Hi there... I try to feature different engines in my videos where possible. I may do a full collection video in the future. I have toyed with the idea of doing full locomotive reviews but I'd want a dedicated full loop layout to do that.
Yay question can you get 2 locomotives a London transport 57xx and class 121 in n guage thanks for coming back
Hi there, I actually already have a 57xx (but it is in green, I think it is GWR). Unfortunately I don't plan on getting a class 121... I need to stop buying so many engines!
Your back. Excellent more model railways
Very nice comment well done
Some great ballast tips in there. Looks good. I’m a newby at this so it’s interesting to see it all come together. Thank you.
Thank you, I'm glad it was helpful. I'm thinking about doing a specific ballasting / weathering tutorial.
Love the single eyebrow raise and wry smirk. 😅
haha thank you!
SUPER!!! BRAVO!!!🥰😍🤩👏👏👏👏👏Congratulations for your magnificent work!!!! Friendships from Switzerland Jean-Marc
Hi Jean-Marc, thanks for watching I'm glad you enjoyed it.
🥰😍🤩
:)
I use my Inglenooks in '00' a lot, no way can I get along with 'N' Have you arranged 'brakes' on your stock ? That tends to be the secret for reliable operation of Kadees. How long is that ? My '00' come out at more, or less 48" Well done on making it fully scenic.
Yea N Gauge is a little fiddly. I haven't made any brakes, although it is something I thought about. My worry was that when pushing a long train the brakes may cause derailments. The layout is about 800mm long, so a fair bit smaller than yours I think.
Please come back we all miss you
I'm back! Thanks for your patience...
Thank you so much we all look forward to your new vedeos
University grades! 😂😂😂😂
We have to laugh at ourselves sometimes...
More alcohol and rubbers than Charlie Sheen! Fantastic!
He does have tiger blood after all!
Agreed about the pond mate, adds a great depth to the visual effect of your scene, the mirror like reflection makes a great aid to the module without making the layout any bigger than it is. Right on! Congradulations, well done!
Thanks very much. The pond was the bit I worried about the most but I think it is a nice feature... scary to pour the resin for the first time though!
Great video. One question, do you need to let the enamel paints dry in before using the weathering powder or does it need to be wet for them to stick to the wagon?
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. I have found the paint can be dry and the powder will still stick (to a certain extent). You can apply it when the paint is wet but you'll get a different effect (more 'clumpy', less powdery / dusty). However the powder does rub off after a while... not the end of the world as it rubs off of the raised detail which adds to the effect if anything!
Great stuff
Thank you
What rust powder are you using and is it dark, medium or light?
It is a relatively bright red/brown colour called 'track rust' from mig. But, any similar colour will do.
@@hedgehoghobbies2836Thanks for your reply. I tend to use the Humbrol dark and medium rust and they work well too.
First off, from a production standpoint, this is very well done. Great voiceovers, mixed in with the "shop" sounds. And the music is not annoying or overwhelming. Probably some of the best "non-professional" work I have seen in some time. Big props. As to the build? I LOVE it! The detailing and care you put in are really paying off. Best of all, you did it without using fancy (read expensive) shop tools. This is a great example of model railroading for "the rest of us", proving that you do not need fancy tools to get good results. The layout itself is really good. I have been inspired to build one now. I might expand it a little though. Maybe having the connection track become a through type mainline. It would require a little larger base, but I think it can still be reasonable to build in a small area. Again, I have only watched this video in the series, but I drew a ton of inspiration from it. I will definitely be watching the rest of the series. PS, In case you are curious, I also model in N Scale. Have built numerous layouts over time. My current project is a little 2x3 foot (US) layout that I call the Hammer Valley. Got a few videos in a playlist. I am also dabbling a little in T-Trak modules. Sorry for the novel length comment. Being a writer, I guess I tend to get a bit wordy sometimes, LOL.
Hi there, thank you for your nice comment. My favourite thing is hearing that people build layouts after seeing my videos! Your 2x4 layout looks cool - like a mini inglenook with a loop. I actually planned out something similar before settling on my end to end layout. I guess I have done the best with the tools I have available. I think that (for the most part) it is possible to achieve good results with basic equipment, it just takes a lot longer. Setting up each straight cut with my circular saw + guide rail takes 10 mins or so! No worries on the long comment... I have dabbled with a little writing in my time too so I know the feeling!
You are so inspiring. I'm at the beginning of this hobby and watching your patient approach really fills me with hope. Thank you!
Thanks very much that is kind of you to say. I hope the videos have been helpful. I honestly think patience is at least 50% of the hobby. I seem to spend most of my time waiting for glue or paint to dry!
I'm confused. You appear to have years of experience but on your first build. I am blown away by your skill and your knowledge. I haven't done any build and I'm brand new to model railways. You appear to know SO much before you even started. What an inspiring video. Thank you. I hope to replicate plenty of this if I manage to get as far as a build.
Thanks again for another nice comment! It is really just planning and taking things slowly. Also watching other people and seeing how they do things. Let me know how you get on with your build, I hope it is progressing well.
Great video...simplicity is the key....track, stock, backgrounds, scenery and figures....the correct amount can give the impression of space and size looks larger than it actually is...great stuff....keep going
Thanks very much that is kind of you to say!
Dude your content is awesome, please come back
Cheers man, I made an upload today after a long break!
Looking great! Now that you have a router and a flush cutting bit, you can save yourself some effort when trimming the oversized bits down. Instead of laboriously sanding them to match, just run the router with the bearing on the flush cutting bit rolling along the side you want to trim down to. You could also have used the router with a different bit to cut the wiring channel in the top instead of grinding it with the Dremel. I just found your channel today, and I've watched all of your layout build videos up to here. I'm really impressed with how well your layout looks. I'm also planning on doing an Inglenook layout, and I just hope mine ends up looking half as good as yours. Thanks for the info and the inspiration!
Thanks very much! That is a good tip on the flush cutter, I'll have to try that out. Will save me some sanding work! I'm glad you have enjoyed the videos. I'm sure yours will look great once it's done!
Super cozy scenery to relax with.
Glad you enjoyed it... part of the reason I wanted to model the countryside and not a modern city layout!
An excellent job!!! I discovered your channel yesterday afternoon and just watched all your videos. They really are a crash course in model building, for those of us who like maneuvering above all else. I hope to see new videos of your careful details to complete the model including that beautiful protective box. I hope you enjoy it for many years!!! 👍 👋👋👋😊
Thank you, it is always nice to hear when people enjoy my videos. I think there's still a few episodes left until it is all complete. And yes... the idea with this is to make it easy to store, use and service so that it doesn't just become a dust collector!
Beautiful intro
Haha thank you! It is one of my favourite films.
Next time when??????
It's been a long delay... but Episode 09 is out now if you're interested!
@@hedgehoghobbies2836 for sure I'm going to watch it
