It might be fun to tie the love of origami into a lesson. I've seen some teachers read "Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes" and then as a class try to make the cranes. Or you could tie it in to a geometry lesson or a science lesson on flowers and make the lotus flowers.

All of our students definitely need more unstructured free time and I'm so glad that you are doing what's best for your students :) Oh my gosh objectives.....so, so much for teachers to keep up with!

I continue to enjoy your videos. Something I have been curious about…are you completely bilingual? If so, I imagine that comes quite in handy with newcomers and non English speakers. In day to day teaching (not with newcomers) is the expectation/practice at your school to teach only in English or is there a mixture? For example, in my city we have some magnet schools that teach a portion of the day in English and a portion in another language such as Spanish, Chinese, German, etc.

Glad to see you happy and enjoying your students this year. I enjoyed seeing how you are using the new items for the classroom. I thought the 3inch hooks would be alternative curtain hardware if they wouldn't allow standard hardware that makes holes or spring tension rods wouldn't work. So it was interesting to see the real use for them. Fifth and sixth grade teachers put all sorts of toiletries on their lists for students. So don't feel awkward about adding the things needed by 4th graders. I don't know if there are any beginning readers that would help with Building English skills for your Students who only speak Spanish. If you have any teachers who teach English as a second language they might be of help. Maybe you could translate your onon negotiables into Spanish and anything else of permanent signs/safety info assuming your new students can read Spanish fluently. More requested items coming this weekend with a few supplies strangling in later. I will order again early October. Look forward to your upcoming vlog updates.😊

I just figured out (on the 4th day of school) that I have a newcomer from Central America in my 1st grade class. I thought they were at our school for kinder because they were BFF’s on the 1st day of school with another kid. Nope, they are just really good at making friends. The other kid is really good at translating what I say into Spanish, but not as confident translating anything back to me in English. I do love having newcomers in my class!!

Would you want a magnetic white board oversized protractor as a teaching aid and grid with 4 quadrants for X and Y quadrants? Look at" 4th grade math" and see if there is anything you want for math.😊

Does your Teacher Edition Book have the objectives in it? That’s what I used to write my objectives on the board. Then adapt the “I Can Statements” to show what the students should be able to do after the lesson is taught.

The number of tasks to complete at the beginning of the year is brutal! I am watching you as I am working to complete my never ending list. I did so much in advance to get ready but there is still so much to do. Glad I have you to keep me company. 😊

I have had good success using rubbing alc on a soft rag to clean my white board/ dry erase board. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing and all the time you put into them.

you can also use felt and rubber bands.

Some teachers use colored floor dots for lining up desk legs so students can do this before leaving each day.

Amazon has precut tennis balls just for this noise problem.
