Something with music...
Live sessions with digital and analog synthesizers, tapeloops, various effects.
Some of the instruments, modules and effects are self-built, some are purchased, and some have come my way.
Many experiments and attempts that seemed very interesting to me at the moment of creation may also be of interest to some.

Fading Piano - First Reel-to-Reel Tape Loop Experiment, Behringer Spice, Poly D, Empress Reverb
My first adventure with a reel-to-reel tape loop! After spending the last few days restoring and testing the basics of this vintage machine, I’m thrilled to see how much it’s capable of again.
The tape loop itself is built from a recording of my Piano (Ibach 123) and that I then developed in Logic, layering three tracks to randomize the individual notes and sneak in the creak of my piano stool. This was then recorded onto a nearly 5-meter-long tape (why 5 meters? A shorter one would probably have been easier…) and played back at half speed for a dreamy, textured feel.
The loop is accompanied by a slow double sequence from the Behringer Spice, with its VCF randomly modulated in rhythm, and melodic lines from the Mighty Boog.
Effects include the Empress Reverb and my trusty Lexicon LXP-1. As usual, the session was recorded in one go on my Zoom recorder. The video, however, features a mix of footage from a failed earlier attempt (where I forgot to hit record on one camera) and detailed shots of the moving tape captured later.
Let me know what you think of this tape-driven sound experiment! 😊🎶

Adeste Fideles - O Come, All Ye Faithful
มุมมอง 17421 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Normally, this channel focuses on ambient and electronic sounds, but during the holiday season, I like to explore something more traditional and less experimental. This time, I’ve created a simple adaptation of the classic Christmas hymn "Adeste Fideles" ("O Come, All Ye Faithful"), transforming it slightly into something new. The piece was performed using only a master keyboard and a piano sou...
Behringer Spice, Poly D, live Ambient Jam with a modular system - Elegic Echoes -
มุมมอง 382วันที่ผ่านมา
A live ambient jam featuring the Behringer Spice, weaving slow, meandering structures that form the foundation for a small sequence built on a modular setup. External LFOs modulate the Spice, adding even more movement and dynamics to the soundscape. The Behringer Spice is an absolute monster when it comes to generating background loops that constantly evolve. The subtle roughness added by its s...
Dune's Spice - Behringer Spice in a modular Setup
มุมมอง 53414 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this session, I integrated the Behringer Spice into a modular setup to explore its potential as part of a larger system. Here’s the breakdown: As always, this was performed live, straight through the mixer into the Zoom recorder. For the release, I just normalized, added a bit of compression, and adjusted the EQ in the DAW. However, I did have to "surgically remove" a tenth of a second from ...
Cascades - Behringer Spice Deep Dive | Dual-Sequencer Patch & Sound Exploration

Spent an evening exploring the Behringer Spice and experimenting a bit with its patching possibilities, without diving too deeply into all the details. In this session, I created a setup with two sequences running at different speeds. The sub-oscillators provide the foundational framework, while the main oscillators shape the tonal textures. Here’s how it works: - VCO 1 is controlled by both Se...

Reminds me of cathedral church bells on christmas eve. Very atmospheric!
Once it’s been said, you can’t unhear it. :-) That might also be due to the different speeds of the sequences, drifting apart rhythmically like church bells.
Man I appreciate the work you put in to demonstrate this. It’s awesome!
Thank you so much! But the videos aren’t actually that much effort. Since (almost) everything is live, I just need to layer two or three video clips and occasionally add some crossfades. Honestly, I feel like I spent more time threading the tape loop than making the video 😂
wonderfull melody , great sound. I love it. Jesper
Thank you. The old Moog and ist clones are capable of beautiful things!
I could listen to this all day. Beautiful soundscapes.
Thanks! That truly means a lot to me!
Super cool improvisation!
Thank you! ’m listening to it again right now. It really has something. :-)
Beautiful!!
Thanks again!
вау... ВАУ... 😳 это так классно, так атмосферно... до слёз
Your comment warms my heart! ❤️ Peace!
listened to this one for about two hours and took a small nap i really like it. it has a.. not melancholic, but not quite sad, hopeful, or bittersweet vibe that i can't quite explain either way, i like it a lot
’m always grateful for feedback like this-it shows that music isn’t just something you create for yourself. I can totally relate to your description. It’s all somehow "in between," maybe just like life itself. :-) I always watch those two people in the video slowly disappearing at the bottom of the frame.
@philaesfarewellwhen i watch the video over the music, i look at the people in the bottom too, and for me, the person on a bike riding past is an essential part of what it's trying to say (to me at least) i think the reason i am drawn to that is because the song, as you said, seems to say something about life itself. not for the individual, but for everyone. maybe. i think the most impressive part about this song is how it encourages the listener - or maybe just me - to think more deeply about how it feels, what it says, and i think that's beautiful. creating something that can speak for itself and make other people think independently from your own intent or creation is something to be proud of :)
Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts! The thought that it moves you moves me deeply
The Shaggs are unbelievable. The shaggs’ were GLAD when it was over.
Yes, it is more or less a tragic story. I did not know the shaggs but my bandmate send sent me a song of them and I was kind of over/underwhelmed So far away from anything that was musical common sense. I'm a a big fan of free jazz - Ornette Coleman, the late Coltrane, Aylers, Brötzmann!!! - but these were people who had to break away from their musical training. The Shaggs just started (or have been forced) to make their own thing. As you said... "unbelievable"
Nice jam~~~~
thank you!
some sweet moments....................
kind words! Thank you!
Thos was very reflective and beautiful! I'd love to get into ambient synth jams. And seeing content like this inspires me more and more.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad it resonated with you.
very cool arrangement
That's a compliment I’m happy to accept!
Oooh. That was nice. May need to repeat it (before ordering mine!)
🙏 thank you. And? Did you order in the meantime 😎
This is soooo great man! I'm loving my Spice, I've had very little time with it so far but definitely digging it. I really want a Poly D like you have here too! Haha, I need to clear some space, but that's probably the synth I want most right now! 🙌🐀
Thank you! The Poly D is a killer. Maybe consider a Model D if space is an issue? But I really like that the Poly D has a keyboard-it feels more like a "real" instrument to play and interact with. And that chorus is absolutely amazing!
Excellent - nice to see a proper pianist like myself . ❤️
Thanks man! Seems like I haven’t forgotten everything from my more active days. 😊
Thank you for sharing, it's a really beautiful track! I'm looking forward to buying the SPICE as well!
Thank you for your nice words!
Ambient with the Spice is surprisingly easy. I sidnt expect it to add to my ambient music but it does. Great jam.
Glad you like it! It really is!
Wow!! Awesome!! ❤❤❤
Thank you, bro!
Heart shaped box chords yo.
Kind of, yeah!
Getting some deadmau5 vibes
I take this as a compliment 🙂
how long did it take to get the spice??
I ordered it round about the 10th of November and was shipped to me end of November
That sounded great and a great demo of what can be done when connecting Behringer gear together.
Yes, Behringer does make some excellent gear. And as the can be combined with components from other manufacturers, they create a great setup.
@philaesfarewell Yeah, I have a Crave, and ProVS mini currently, and a Grind on the way. I have been combining them with a Roland SH-4d and a VCV Rack setup on my PC. It has been working great.
Fantastic Jam. Got the spice my self along with the Crave, Edge and Grind. They are all really good, the spice is harder work than the others but once you hit that sweet spot it sings beautifully. It's nice to hear a Poly D not being used solely for bass. The Poly D could be my next synth.
Poly D is my "lead machine" I love this thing. And I appreciate having a keyboard attached to it.
This is great, well done 👌👏
Thank you!
nice melody... 😊
More to come 😊
shiny resonants!
👍😊
😍
I have the Moog Sub harmonica and been tempted to get the spice if only for the usb etc
Funny... I'm actually considering getting a Moog now. It does look much cooler than the Behringer! 😄 But to be fair, I think the Spice has some ergonomic advantages over the Moog. For instance, I prefer the Sequencer section on the Spice, especially with its larger knobs. That said, the VCO section is better designed on the Moog, in my opinion. One thing I don’t like about the Moog, though, is the patch bay placement-it’s on the right, which doesn’t feel ideal for a right-handed person like me. It would work much better on the left. And what’s absolutely bonkers are the markers on the division knobs of the Behringer (subVCOs and rhythm) … 11 markers for 16 divisions? Seriously? Leaving it blank would have been a better option! But maybe you are right. Having both is a valid alternative :-)
@philaesfarewell Hi, After a day with the Spice I really prefer the Moog . Both are good but the Filter wins over on the Moog, yes the Moog is fiddly with the sequencer but .....maybe I have had the Subharmonicon long enough to get really good results .?
@@Leerf-driftingpitches Yes, it’s certainly possible that there are differences in sound, feel, or perhaps in areas that aren’t easily measurable. Enjoy your Moog! My first studio Moog is going to be the Labyrinth, as soon as it’s back in stock here.
Fantastic
Mate, honestly I’ve been craving listen to these sounds since I first listened to your live set the other day. This is creating pure peace in my mind. Epic stuff! Mine is due to arrive in February 25 😊
Wow, that means so much to me-thank you! 😊 I’m so glad the sounds resonate with you and bring you a sense of peace. Comments like this make it all worth it.
omg incredible
I’m glad you enjoyed it
Lovely
Thanks!
What a friggin sweet jam with the Spice! Mine is on the way, can't wait! Glad to find your channel, I was searching for something nice with the Spice and you totally delivered! haha 😁🐀
Thanks so much for the awesome comment! 😄 You're absolutely right-finding the sweet spot on the Spice can be a bit tricky, but it’s all part of the fun! Funny enough, I had just cleaned up my desk before this jam-if I’d known you were dropping by, I would’ve left my RAT Distortion pedal out for the vibe! 🐀 At least you can spot it (even if not hear it) in one of my other Spice videos. Enjoy your Spice when it arrives, and happy jamming! 🎛✨
have to wait till feb 25 until mine arrives! in the meantime I'll keep tuning in here.... these are some amazing tunes you are creating! keep the peace going
Thank you so much for the kind words! 😊 February 25 will be here before you know it, and I’m sure you’ll have a blast with it. In the meantime, I’m happy to share the inspiration-stay tuned
Shipping of mine was also foreseen in February and then suddenly I got an email from Music Store telling me it would arrive this week !
@@eldontyrellcorp Thats a Happy merry, Christmas 😀
@ merry Christmas, must have been good this year. Fingers crossed for mine… haven’t given up hope. Have fun with the spice…

I'm flattered! Thank you!
thats beautiful! love it..
Thank you! 😊
Mine just arrived ❤
Have fun! I am sure, you will!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👏👏👏👏👏
Sounds great, getting superb results from mine.
Sounds really nice and soft! What effect units do you use? I like the MS40CRD... I have to try it out with some Spice 🙂
First there was a compressor. Just needed it for taming the volume differences when using the overdrive from my keyscreamer. Then a Duo Tremolo that interacted with the LFO on the VCF and the Dual Reverb on the MS 70 CDR, but this was very subtle.. may 10 or 12 in the actual mix. Maybe there was a little bit of chorus, too. But I really don't know, if it was active while this take or not.
very nice sounds - thanks for sharing 😊👍
Thanks... new video is out now ;-)
great idea!
The idea is not new, but I wasn't aware that the inputs of the spice are "mixers" and adding the CVs instead of replacing them
Such works are best placed / promoted by an indie game dev studios.
Feel free to establish the contact 😀
great work, looks like a pro production video :) nice sound!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it. 😊 It’s all a one-take live setup, so I’m thrilled it comes across as polished.
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥👏👏👏👏👏👏
still on fire!
Nicely done, more people should share the beautiful sounds and leave synth politics aside!
I can relate to the debate about Behringer, especially when they clone recently developed synths-this one, in particular, being a replica of a current Moog module. I have no issue when they bring vintage synths back to life; in fact, that’s what I love about the big B. But cloning modern designs does feel different. And I have to admit, I’ve gone against my own principles on this one - but this thing is great!
I don’t see any difference in what they are doing compared to the guitar market where everyone clones strats and telecasters.
Wonderful music by the way!
Awesome, those bottom ends sound deep. Mine gets delivered tomorrow so will spend tonight reading the manual.
Would like to hear about your experiences!
@@philaesfarewell I sure will let you know. I will probably drop a video at some point as well.
