For Real Episode 58 - Becoming “Holy Eavesdroppers” with Rachel Booth Smith
My guest today is Rachel Booth Smith. If you’ve ever read the Bible and wondered if your 21st-century self might be missing a few things, same! And we are! Rachel faces that question today with an eye on the very first pages of Scripture. Her new book is Rest Assured: What the Creation Story was Intended to Reveal about Trusting God, and it is so timely as we take a fresh look at what it means to truly rest. I’m learning that rest is tightly connected to my idea of trust, and Rachel offers some fantastic clarity on how that looks on any given Tuesday. I’m so grateful for her wisdom and for this conversation.
Rachel Booth Smith has a contagious love for God’s Word. Her passion to teach accessible theology has led her to develop curriculum and leadership summits, write Bible studies, and teach. Rachel has a Master of Divinity degree from Pillar Seminary, where she learned to study the Bible in its original languages while being trained in ancient Near East context for both the Old and New Testament. Find her online at rachelboothsmith.com and on socials @rboothsmith.

For Real Episode 56 - Reclaiming Quiet with Sarah Clarkson
มุมมอง 150หลายเดือนก่อน
This episode was like a deep breath for me. Sarah Clarkson joins me to talk about reclaiming quiet. This is an audacious goal in such a relentless and noisy world, right? Sarah definitely lives in that real world, as you will hear. She is not cloistered, though she does live in an actual vicarage in actual England. Obviously I trusted her immediately. What I loved about this conversation is tha...

Katherine James is an award-winning author of fiction and nonfiction. She is an extraordinary writer, a visual artist, just an insanely creative person, and I was floored by her book A Prayer for Orion: A Son’s Addiction and A Mother’s Love. Addiction seems like one of those things that is hidden in plain sight, a reality, not just an idea, and something we are all hungry to put language around...

We For Real types are the people who are curious to hear great stories, laugh together, and travel all roads, even the hairpin, pothole-filled ones, with the people we love. I'm sorry you feel that way, sister. Only He can rescue your soul from the depths of despair. Your message is a downer, but it's definitely unique to you.
So beutyfull! Where can I find lyrics? I searched, but couldn’t find them anywhere…
THANK YOU FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL AND ANNOINTED 🎵 🎶. ❤

"Drinking from an empty well" what a great line. There are times we all feel that way and just can't put it into words.... thanks! Love the whole package: guitar, harp, voice... oh yeah...God has big plans for Megan!
It's the first time I've had a podcast make me hungry........
This was fantastic! Love hearing y’all’s interaction! What a greatly and Godly couple.
Thank you for listening and for the kind words! :)
So many wonderful voices of God's Grace in one video! All three of you are an encouragement as you minister to so many!
My favorite podcast because Kimberly lets her guests talk without one-upping them or interrupting them.❤
To know him is to love him. I loved every minute of this!❤
You are very kind. :)
So sweet.❤
Wow…he is brilliant and you allowed him to talk and you asked insightful questions that gave him a great format to work within. I retired from 40 years of being a woman in full time ministry. I’ve never heard THIS conversation and was always called Director of Discipleship to be able to get around the “Pastor” title, even though I did all the work of a Pastor. It never caused an issue for me because I could still do what I was passionate about and my generation didn’t buck the system.😉 It is so nice to know the conversation and understanding of Biblical text is changing for the next generation of women. P.S. God bless Beth Moore 😮
This explains so much. What great help this podcast offers. A Godly perspective regarding our trauma is so inspiring.
Thank you so much for listening, Phyllis, and for this very thoughtful comment. I'm so grateful you found this conversation helpful! I so admire Aundi and her work. We need her perspective and her generosity of mind and heart. xo
I’m so happy I found this interview. Such an interesting and thoughtful exchange. I recently found the TV program and absolutely love what Ms Stoffer and her team create. Of note, that early school picture in her book where she is wearing an Izod dress from her Grandpa Bradbury really shows that her beautiful daughter Grace is almost a mini-me.
I loved her book! And I loved the chance to chat with Jean! She is the same behind the camera as she is in front of it. And yes to the mini-me with Grace! :) Thank you for watching, @lagunagirl1347!
God lead me to this interview. During a time of struggle, I’ve been trying to control and manipulate relationships. This beautiful reminder to pray opened my heart. The reminder that God’s timeline is perfect is a sweet redirection. My heart has been soothed in all of the wisdom imparted through this honest conversation. Thank you
Thank you for listening! I'm so grateful you found the conversation with Jean and that it gave such beautiful gifts to you on a day you needed them. 🤍
Jean is so inspiring to me. Her story is just a joy to read. Praying I will make some steps forward in whatever ways God has planned for me. Truly a treasure!
Isn't Jean a total gem?! She was just as lovely off mic as on. Thank you for listening in, Shannon! :)
Hi!! Before today I did not know who Jean Stoffer was but I am so glad I watched this interview. I am excited to research her projects and learn from this beautiful woman. Her children and husband are blessed to have her may God bless her with all the peace, joy and love her heart can hold.
Jean is phenomenal. I'm so glad you found her and had a chance to hear some of her heart in this conversation. Thank you for your comment and for taking the time to listen in, Gina!
Hey, you said she had her guitar…I was waiting to hear her sing. What happened?
Hi, there! Here's the link to the extra footage! Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/_1XHopjJiS0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!! That was a wonderful interview. Meagan is very inspiring both in song and word. Love, love Build a House. I listen to it on repeat. Lol🙏🏽♥️ It’s just so deep, real, and is such material for conversation with our Creator. Thank you for sharing your journey. Stay encouraged and connected to our Heavenly Father…the Source of all we have…so you 36:13 can continue giving what He so kindly and abundantly gives you. ❤
I could have listened to 3 more hours of this. Truly what needed to be laid on my heart. I’m a stay at home mom/teacher. I quit design school to raise and teach my kids and there is a constant pull of “I’m running out of time” because the world tells us women that life ends after 40. Jean is a treasure and absorbing her wisdom was a true blessing.
Thank you for this beautiful comment, Valerie! What a gift to me and our team that you took the time to write these words. I agree that Jean is a treasure. I was honored to learn from her, and I'm honored you felt that same joy! And listen! Life DEFINITELY does NOT end for women at 40. I'm well past that mile marker and just getting started! Don't believe the hype!
Hello! I'm almost done reading the book of hers. " Missing Pieces " is a great book! Full of thrills and puzzled thoughts. 🙂
I’m one of those people! You were/are my songwriter, Sara. ❤🙋🏼♀️
Thank you for this- was deeply edifying and found myself rejoicing in God and His goodness multiple times throughout the interview
This might be my favorite For Real episode. I think I needed to be reminded having boundaries is okay, and protects what I am made to do, to still honor Jesus WITH those boundaries! Grateful to both you and Maria for this!
Thank you for listening, AJ! 🌷
Awesome interview!!❤
Keep grinding pal!! Your content deserves a service like S M Z E U S!!!
What a beautiful and interesting conversation - just put the book on hold at the library!
Thank you so much for listening in! You will LOVE Amanda's book. xoxo
I've just finished the book and I loved it. I was obsessed with the characters as you and I miss them already. Such a pleasure to read it.
Thanks so much for listening in, Micaela! I highly recommend all of Nicole's books. She's fantastic. :)
Your songs are amazing....very authentic and anointed. God bless you and all you care about.
Amazing Song and Voice!
I came across Stefanie when I was looking up what Sanfilippo syndrome was! It’s really sad that she lost her two oldest kids Jayden and Brooklyn to that rare and devastating disease! Children don’t deserve to lose their skills or have their lives taken away at 11 and 9 years old! I hope that they are free from suffering on the other side and that they are watching over their parents and sister Ellie as their guardian angels! I also hope that one day there will be a cure or more effective treatments for Sanfilippo and others like it!
Sounds great.
I am so glad that we became real-life friends because you have written some great books with inspiring characters. I could chat with you all day long. Eavesdropping on your podcast conversations will definitely be the next best thing 👏👏👏 -Amy Main
