Dennis Conner talks about race #2 results It took four start attempts for Race Two to get off at the 2024 Star World Championship in San Diego, California - a frustrating beginning to a day that the fleet will remember as a very difficult one. During the two laps of the windward/leeward course, they had to keep their cool while the weather played tricks on them. The wind off the coast of Silver...
Podcast #5 2024 STAR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST RACE

San Diego delivered incredible conditions on Day One of the 2024 Star World Championship. With sunshine, 12 to 15 knots of northwesterly breeze, and chop mixed with ocean swell, the 64 teams participating had it all. The eager fleet couldn’t wait to get going, and after two general recalls PRO Tom Duggan had to hoist the Black Flag to get a clean start, and they were off for the five-leg race. ...

Wow, someone's really jamming that edit button aren't they. Prefer just normal talking without removing the gaps, thanks Ed.
Thanks, Dennis for the update
Hi Dennis A Kiwi here that is that not that clued up on Yachting, but really enjoying your podcasts, keep up the excellent work, and I'm hoping I will learn a bit more about the world of yachting through your podcasts
Why do I feel like I'm watching an AI version of Dennis Conner?
Thanks for sharing!
Dennis really loved giving us K1W1’s stick, And we always have it back, He now realises we are as good as them at the AC so he’s now very humble towards us, Great man and a real great competitor
Had the Italians been in the final against NZ ….. it would have been a hell of a lot closer Pom’s never had a chance….. ✌️ Thanks Dennis you’re still the man you and John Bertram Legands…..
Losing it Dennis , Valencia will be the next venue
Losing it Dennis , Valencia will be the next venue
Just found this, i wish i had seen this earlier. Your the man who made me obsessed with the cup, love from nz
Hey Dennis good to see you again after all these years. You are one of one and the current Americas Cup would be a little more interesting with a character and competitor such as yourself racing. Huge respect from NZ champ.
Why are we hearing from DC, is there not someone that is not a dinosaur to pontificate. DC does not even like the current AC75’s or format.
Jimmy said he won’t be a helmsman in AC 38.
I think it will be in the Emirates. Emirates Team NZ won in dominant decisive fashion.
Nothing new here, he’s behind the times like the Americans, can’t catch up to the kiwis…
Not just Grant, ETNZ will be the most cashed up team in AC38, and therefore hard to beat. Perhaps you might give Elon a ring.
Hi Dennis, Great to hear from you. You are "MR. Americas Cup " thank you for the Racing in the A-Cup, I have watched you since 1983, Newport. Hope to see you in NZ again. You are the "Kaumatua" of the A-Cup. Would be great to see a "Stars and Stripes" challenge out on the Water.
Wow Dennis you were like Trump a disgusting sore lover & yiu made a laughing stock of yourself Yiur expound so much knowledge, not !, rake some advice, close your trap & stop annoying people.
Dennis! Give it another go and bring in NYYC.
The New Zealand government is always going to be trouble in no matter who you is voted in
Dennis just wouldn't be Dennis if he wasn't having a dig at the Kiwis.
Team nz rules the waves. Denis coner waives the rules
Well, not as true as you think. If challenger of Records and Cup holder cant find a way to agree to, what will come next, there will be a dead of gift race. And then only money counts and that could definitely Dis advance, the Cup Holder.
Jeez Dennis, if you are going to be taken seriously, do your homework. Dalton has always wanted to remain in AC72's, they might go lighter again to suit even lighter conditions. The Brits have already been accepted as COR, so are confirmed. Some speculation that it will be hosted in UK..... Spithill is on record as no more helming, maybe to run a team, but not active sailing. All your speculation is wide of the mark. Go with Grace.
I’m picking Saudi Arabia! Luna Rossa will meet ETNZ in the final in the next AC
Terry Hutchinson, Dennis. I believe where AM need to go is to better integrate design with performance-based sailors. Sailors that are technically savvy
Thank you Dennis for the detailed America’s Cup update. Even though I am a Kiwi by birth and you have been away from competing in the America’s Cup for some time, I think you still define what the term “Mr America’s Cup” truly stands for. Thanks for your service to the sport, for without your tenacious passion for the event, the America’s Cup would have just died on the vine decades ago.
Another kiwi who agrees and love what you stand for in Sailing Denis.
True. Dennis Connor was to the America's Cup what John McEnroe was to tennis. Both men brought an audience.
Dennis, would enjoy hearing and seeing more about the 6m
The Sail GP boats can't even get up on the foils in the Middle East legs. Would be a horrible Venue. As a Kiwi im hoping Auckland.. but would mean a substantial spend by the NZ government that wouldnt be very popular.
I don't think it will go to the Arab states. Burling and Tuke would find it too ethically challenging given their environmental stance. And TNZ won't defend without them.
Enjoy the heat out on the water chaps. There's a reason why arabs don't sail.
I love that Dennis Conners just asked the world to give him a call so he can paint their boats 😎
I'm seriously thinking about that!
Thanks Dennis, appreciate your videos
The British have already offered a letter of Challenge and it was accepted. More 6mR news please!
Hi It is really good to here from you on sailing . Do not forget to keep mentioning Star world of racing - the true form of sailing
Hi I am more interested in the 6-M : keep the info coming on that
Thank you for your incite on the America’s cup Mr Conner you know your stuff. I’m a kiwi and like many didn’t like you much then I read your book Comeback that changed my outlook Look forward to your next video Many thanks
Cant wait for NYYC to give it another try !!
3 in a row buddy
Hi Dennis It's the lessons you give to New Zealand sailors and now look were team New Zealand is .Once more America's cup winners
Is this even real? The edit blips every 3 seconds are very peculiar
One of the biggest changes in the America's Cup came when Larry Ellison and his Oracle team decided to change the style of racing to fit in with broadcasting rights and bring the racing inshore to be able to charge spectators a fee. He also wanted to create a Cup circuit. This created new class of boats and sail teams. This format has now taken over. So this why the America's Cup transformed. Miss the days of Freemantle and the other ocean Cup series.
This AI is great but DC kicked the bucket a few years ago.
Kiwis are Number 1🇳🇿🏆
Thank you Sir, it’s super great to see you. ❤️ from NZ.
I've followed the Cup since the 70's. There is nothing today as thrilling or as beautiful as the 12 meters. Or for that matter the J boats. In Barcelona it's like watching Hobie Cat races in the 80's. Yes the speed is amazing. But it's clear with these "boats" that the start is everything. There is too little time for tactics or recovery. I would pray that the Cup would go retro in the future. Dennis you will always have my commiserations. It should have never happened.
Dennis, Nice work...maybe extend to the Etchells Class on your next podcast. Cheers
Hi Dennis. Great contribution to the Star Class, thank you for your service.
Love to hate ya Dennis but come on, technology will forever evolve and so will the sport, you gotta keep up with the times or get left behind
Denis had a nice career but decided to finish it as the cheater in chief.
Hey, Dennis why don't you message Grant Dalton to request or invite them to get you out on Taihoro? That would give you a taste or sense of where the America's Cup is at. Just you experiencing this and commenting afterwards on what it was like would be priceless.
Dennis Connor understood the legal nature of the deed of gift, and in some ways, he may have paved the way for further innovation in the sport. The cup was never really "fair" as boats had to sail from their country of origin to challenge for the cup. Cheers Dennis, hope you are loved and have found Christ! Blessings!
