My 16th B-day was Slayer, and Dark Angel at the Hollywood Paladium. 1984......My kneck was sore for a week and my ears rang for a day after. Fuckin amazing. Amazing scene in LA at the time local bands like Armored Saint, Metalica, Overkill. As for prior comments about the birth of "death metal". I'd say a couple bands of mention would Venom, and Merciful Fate. Pretty big at that time.
