Also, Doeren does not put the best players on the field. Betty starting this season at outside linebacker was on example. Bonner showed in one game he is a more dynamic player. Has a lot to learn, but still a better player for THAT position. Also, the few touches of Joly, Hollywood, Noah, shows we do not focus on getting the ball in the hands of the best players. We seemed more concerned with ensuring everyone gets a touch instead of your best guys getting the vast majority. Dave has a history or rewarding seniority.

Boo's letter came off as damage control for two things....frustration over the season and Dave's comments on the fans. Obviously that had gotten back to Boo and the email is his proactive management of it. Also, asking for people to renew their season tickets before the existing season is even half done is/was annoying. I just waited to renew cause that pissed me off. As for Doeren, he is a not bright for lecturing the fans every year in some manner about attendance, or cheering on third down (I mean is he deaf and blind?). The dude can't help himself, he is a lousy communicator. I am fine with him asking fans to show up as he did last week and I get it. But to a lot of people I know, it rubs them the wrong way. As one friend of mine put it...."it wasn't the crowd that couldn't stop 3rd down conversions". As for showing some emotion in press conferences, again, Dave has no personality to engage. He just doesn't. That is who he is. I am fine with that, but let's be real on how he communicates and what his personality traits are. It is not conducive to firing up or placating the fanbase.

You got Anae playcalling, Doeren with his play not to lose mentality, and a below average defense. Put that together and this team is not going to go far. Having a great defense saved State many times in previous years. Our coaches still coach like that is what we have, and that is why we lost Saturday.

Our secondary doesn't cover well so we need a better pass rush to put pressure on the opposing QB and shut down the run. Can we at least try a four man front defense with a potential linebacker or Cornerback blitz. Too many secondary players covering space and not engaged...

Why does style matter if we win? Clearly most state fans want to see more points and not to be conservative. But Dave's style is to rely on the defense to win us games after we get a lead. Most of the state fans want to see us not that way. I agree with playing tough but not that style and I think most state fans would agree.

I remember people asking that question in the off-season about the football team. Hopefully the women's bball teams does not have the same jinx!!

I find it interesting that Macon thinks Keatts shouldn't get 3 years. I was so ready for Keatts to be gone last year. Then he won the ACC Championship. I am in my 50's and never thought we would win one in my lifetime. So yeah, Keatts definitely gets three years, and this is coming from someone so ready for him to be shown the door. A Championship was massive. Game changer.

Doeren does well with the message of blue collar, hand in the dirt...but for persona, he is not engaging with the fan base, and you can tell that is just not his thing. I have met him multiple times and he is not a vibrant personality by any means. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but fans loved Jimmy V and Chuck cause they engaged the fans and were outwardly expressive and enthusiastic. That is not Dave and that is a shortcoming to some extent. You don't get a lot of goodwill if you are losing and are not that fan friendly. Now he has a winning record, but fans resent some of his conservatism which comes from his personality as well

You can blame some on a freshman QB. But the offense basically looked the same with a 5th year guy. Should be able to at least run the ball better with anyone at QB.

How does it get solved? I wonder if the coaches in the offseason even saw this coming? All the great coaching can cover up the poor line play on both sides of the ball with limited talent. The future doesn’t look promising because it is going to be hard to compete with the programs that can outbid us on any player that they want. That is a very sad reality that we have to deal with.

Dave needs to coach better and not get blown out and embarrassed then he won’t have to talk about fan support.

Fans shouldn’t have to directly fund college football programs to win championships. The Schools need to start paying the players, signing them to contracts. Etc.. figure out the academics and move on from the NIL and transfer portal circus.

As for fairweather fans, there is not a more loyal fanbase in the country. There are always some fairweather fans, but in comparison, State is better than any program in the country IMO. The right context is compared to other fanbases.

States lack of talent on defense is glaring across the board. You ask what would it take to have done better on defense. The simple answer is better talent. Our defensive recruiting from 2019-2022 has sucked big time. A big part of coaching is recruiting. That buck stops with coaches on that. Also, we spent all this NIL on offensive weapons, and they all have looked good. Grimes, Rogers, Smothers, but we don't target them enough. We are always rotating. Not maximizing what we have. Also, the fact that we have had those three great LBs for 4-5 years, and now do not have ONE great LB replacing them over that 4 year time period is mind boggling. Also, I definitely support Savage Wolves and encourage people to do so.

I told you guys we would get rolled. You all seem like nice people, but you have to realize the coaching we have. We have 8 win coaching and 7 win recruiting. Dave has built a nice culture and does things the right way. But he is not a championship level coach and game day coaching is not his strength. Punting from Clemsons 42 yard line? That is typical Dave bad decision. Play to win Dave!!! Also, Anae is a huge bust. Look at our recruiting the last 4 years. It has been awful in terms of how many signees actually have contributed. Plus you add a rigid mindset that does not want to change and maximize the weapons you do have on offense, and you are not a championship team. Our offense is like a script and we won't change the script. For gods sake, quit rotating the receivers every play!!! Then the complete miscalculation of what talent we have on defense is mind boggling. So you add all that up, and that is why we are where we are. Realize what you have in Dave. Good guy, nice 8 win coach. That is what we have.
