Claymills Victorian Pumping Station steam powered workshop.
A couple of machines from the workshop, being powered by the Vernon & Guest vertical engine. 1885 George Richards & Co side arm planer, and the 1905 Leckenby Benton long bed lathe. Both machines not cutting in the clips - while video was being taken, but both of these machines are used when needed. They can be seen working on steam days... check www.claymills.org.uk for dates.

    You've taken out the decorative bolts on the castings and added proper ones. Looks mint! I'm planning on buying a pre-machined S50 to build, did you take out the decorative bolts with a mill or can it be done without a mill or lathe? A beauty!

    • @ianlainchbury
      @ianlainchbury 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, many thanks :) I did mill them off, yep. I reckon without a mill, you could file some of them, but the ones on the main bearing cap... definitely a mill to remove. They do look nice though, rather than the casting. If you don't have a mill... then a lathe with a vertical slide, but to be honest... see if you can get a 2nd hand mill ;)

      Hi Adam. Juliet 1 or 2? There seems to be plenty of errors on my Juliet II drawings. For first loco, given the valve gear, I'd suggest the Juliet 1. Free plans are available for this off john tom's website. This is my first build too. I wish I'd have built Juliet 1 :)

      Brave man lol. Take your time..as I see you've done so far. It does fly nice. Not a trainer...but nice enough and a total bargain! I certainly wouldn't put the 2200 in there though. 6 minutes easy on a zippy 3s 1300. The only thing I'd say with the wings, is dry fit the servos... standard 9g servo's wont fit, so you'll need to modify the bays a little. Try before gluing :) And also... scrap the wing joiners! Make it from better ply, and go in one further rib on each side. It does build nice though.

    I like that heli! If hobbyking still made those 250’s, i would definitly buy one for practice 3d. Nice flying!

      They are nice little heli's... cheap too. BUT, you only have to breath on the feathering shaft and they break. And, they're really twitchy!
