Portable Recording! Going over the Shure MVX2, Apogee Duet 2, and Caster Streaming Audio Software.

This is an overview of my "not at home" audio setup which will consist of a Shure Beta 57a and Shure MVX2u interface. Previously it was an Apogee One, but that stopped working, so I got an Apogee Duet 2 which was a bit too large for me, but a fantastic portable interface.

    Just listened to the part about the straps on the sides, they are for compressing the bag (it is designed to fit in a locker or under a desk, etc) it is also designed with staying slim line and being able to evac without bumping into everything. You can since it all in tighter, especially if you have more open space from loss of consumables. Hard for me to imagine cutting straps off a bag that costs this much,. (tossed you a sub while I was at it too)

  • @jwreagan
    @jwreagan 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nicely done! I too have had this bag (coyote color) in my Amazon cart for a while. I actually got one second hand, dirt cheap off fb marketplace a little while back. I was toying around with making a go box since I recently got an FT-891 as part of a larger overall deal from a guy who bought everything for a go-box, but a serious tragedy in his life made him decide to abandon the hobby :( I wound up with nearly everything I need to build a decent go-box, but wanted something I could take with me on work trips and not look like someone on a no-fly list with a pelican case or the massive roll around box the guy I got my stuff from had planned to use. I started fitting it all together in different bags, nothing felt right. Also, I did not want to give up a backpacking pack for this purpose. I got the Hazard 4 used, started mocking it up, and am in almost the same configuration as you are! I looked this bag up with various ham phrases and found out I was nowhere near the first to come up with this idea lol. I started wanting to get more shape retention and padding for the gear. I was thinking to make a kydex or thermomoldable plastic compartment for the interior of the bag when I came across a page called "into the woods", the guy there used the Hazard 4 Evac Photo Insert. I literally just ordered it. It fits right inside your bag, comes with a variety of dividers/padding for cameras and lenses. I am no longer looking at thermoplastics ;) Again, great looking setup. I will get some videos together of mine as I build it, hope to get input from others who have already learned things "the hard way" so I do not have to. Take care and keep up the videos (wish I had seen this a year or more ago, my kit would be a lot closer to done right now)

    • @adamcycle
      @adamcycle 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nope! The plastic part that actually touches the mic body is in two parts, so there are two gaps/channels that you can slide the pin through, and the pin ends up perfectly situated on the other side of that when you rotate a little.

    • @adamcycle
      @adamcycle ปีที่แล้ว

      It clamps securely! Not the least bit loose. Also, there is an inner plastic ring so it's not just a set screw jamming down onto your mic like the EV 309A mount, although I think that mount does have some kind of little cap on the end of the set screw.

    If they offer me this for the 4 bucks, I'm taking them up on it!!! LOL!!! It sounds fine on this end of the listening chain (my desktop good, not great speakers). In the booth, I'd probably be hearing the noise you do. I do like the proximity effect on it and that might be useful to me. The plosive thing is concerning but as you say talking a bit to the side or with a good pop filter might work. Again at 4$ I'd try it out, too!!! LOL! I've got several good mikes so I'd just be playing with it to see if that noise can be taken out of the chain. Thanks for this video!!!!!!!

    Let’s say, I want to set 3 talk groups, but I want to have an access to them through 2 different repeaters. When I travel with a car, I get out of range one repeater but hit the other one. In such case, should I create 6 channels? (separate channel for each talk group on each repeater)? Or should I just create 2 channels for each repeater (covering time slots 1 and 2) and then after choosing the repeater within my range - go to contacts menu, find the desired group and connect to it by pressing the ptt button? *(assuming that the color code is always the same)
