How clipping your Queen can help when your bees decide to swarm
Clipping Queens wings is a contentious subject, but can be a great help to stop you losing your swarm of bees. In this video see how I initially thought I hadn't clipped this queen, when in fact I had. See the bees leaving the hive, clustering and then returning back to the hive, in an amazingly quick time.

Dealing with an Aggressive Hive (my way.)
มุมมอง 2373 หลายเดือนก่อน
How I deal with an aggressive Hive (thankfully we don't get too many, but this is how I deal with them.) The Queen's pheromone triggers a social response in the bee colony, so in an aggressive colony, we must kill that particular Queen. This particular hive was a little ratty last year, but this year they are terrible. In this video you will see just how aggressive they are, and how after killi...
Amending the tall narrow hives to become honey production hives.

How I amend my tall narrow boxes, to become my honey producing hives. As I no longer need the narrow 4 frame boxes to make up mating nucs, by transferring the frames to my National boxes. Includes image of drone brood and how you can check for varroa.
Surprising find! Is it a virgin Queen on her mating flight or a cast
มุมมอง 1434 หลายเดือนก่อน
Beekeeping brings surprises! Finding a Queen in the grass, could it be a queen on a mating flight, or perhaps a small cast? You will never stop learning and will often be amazed as I was. Be observant and open minded. This video shows that there are many possibilites when you find something unusual and further investigation can reveal the true explanation.
' setting up' system with nuc boxes using my own design system
มุมมอง 2074 หลายเดือนก่อน
Here I show you how the Nuc box system I have created, simplifies setting up, as it is completely interchangable. This allows you to use small frames, super frames, ordinary national frames and 14 x 12 frames too. This is the system I use for queen rearing and starting Nuc's.
What I do to prepare to overwinter the last queens I have reared for the year, in my small nuc's.
มุมมอง 285 หลายเดือนก่อน
How I prepare to overwinter the last of the queens I have reared. Showing how I have transfered the small frames of brood and the queen into the bottom box (my design of small nuc), and full size super frames full of stores in a box above so they have plenty of stores to see them through the winter. As the weather gets colder, I will move them to a more sheltered apiary out of the winds. Note: ...
THE LEAST STRESSFUL WAY TO HANDLE BEES to make up mating nucs, using my own design of mini nucs.
มุมมอง 1445 หลายเดือนก่อน
@lavenderviewfarm1389 An easy way to make up mini mating nucs in the least stressful way without having to shake the bees or measure out in a cup. See the making up of the nuc, brood, food and drawn out comb and undrawn comb. The set up of the nuc and how easy it is to feed both fondant or liquid feed and to insert the queen cell. See the emerging queen being greeted by the bees, and a look at ...
