I removed the Dillon expander, which is an impossible disaster to setup, and I replaced it with a Lee expander and a pro auto-disk powder measure, and ever since, it's been bliss.
RCBS DIES FIXED MY ISSUES ALSO!!! Sent my dies to Lee Precision and they told me the chamber on my Savage bolt action and my Wilson Combat barrels were tight tolerances,...send some fired rounds and they would make a die to fit my once fired brass ? My brass kept getting stuck in the chambers after firing...Also a collet crimp die takes out the bulge under the reloaded bullets...
thanks mate. got it sorted now. i thought you were just turning the top part of expander at first, your hand was blocking the view a bit, cheers from Australia and my new Stoeger 9mm
i used titegroup for 327mag/9mm/38spl/357mag/44mag/45acp/45colt beside for the 460 mag then i use h110. if i cant get my hands on those powder, i do use longshot to load 327mag/9mm/38spl/357mag/44mag/45acp/45colt/460mag
Using a variety of manufacturers cases could have a few thousandths of variation in the way it marries with the shell holder. Lateral press flex could add to that as well.
You kicked out my favorite 9mm powder, which is Tight group. A little dab will do ya and I get good velocities and good accuracy with it. You can fill up your powder measure and load all day and it barely drops. Meters great too.
The problem is that there is no guide for a 16" inch barrel .. the data that they are providing most of the time is out of a 4" barrel . Vihtavuori N350 in his famous shooting accuracy! my load is 115 FMJ with N350 5.7 grains .. that fall in the middle between the low and hi recommended power load . Vihtavuori N350 is the slowest in the N300 series of handgun powders. It is ideal for very heavy loadings and top velocities and energies for a broad range of pistol and revolver cartridges. The grain size (1,0 mm length and 0,8 mm diameter) is exactly the same than N320, N330 and N340; it is the porosity of the powder that makes all the difference in burning characteristics. N350
I shoot 9mm Berry's bullets, 115 gr and 124 gr. I've been loading 4.0 gr of Titegroup under a 115 gr bullet and 3.9 gr under a 124 gr. bullet I have a 550C Dillon progressive press, with Dillon's case activated powder measure - it throws powder really well. I just came across CFE Pistol in my new 51st Ed'n Lyman manual - a new powder to me. Ordered some today and am awaiting its arrival.
I’ve reloaded and shot literally thousands of rounds in my near 50 years of reloading. I do not own a case gauge. They are not your chamber and most are to the tightest tolerance of spec. Waste of time
When a case gives me fits going into the case gauge after sizing I learned to turn the case around and gently stick the case head in to see if it fits, and if it does does it show where a bulge might be. It often works. Also, it is a good idea to take a paper towel and clean your case gauge every once in a while. Gauging lubed cases leaves a lube residue that will pick up dust and other debris that can cause fits. Especially on gauges that seat on the rim as the case will push debris down to collect on the rim in the gauge. It can accumulate on case gauges at the shoulder of other rifle calibers too.
I use Accurate 5 and 7 most of the time. They both work well but it depends on bullet weight which one I use and these are not beginner powders , they are dependable powders.
Great video, warts and all. I love to hear about mistakes as it helps me avoid them, or at least not feel so bad when I make them. Thx from a brand new hand-loader.
Need to pay special attention with using a reloading manual. You were looking at the 9mm RIFLE data. There is an entirely separate (and much more extensive) list of published data in the Lyman book for 9mm handgun. The loads for rifle should be safe in a handgun however, this being a video for “beginners”, I’m a firm believer in teaching beginners that ATTENTION TO DETAIL is of the essence in the world of reloading. Using published data for the wrong application can lead to very bad things. Other than that, great video.
cutter has to be loaded on stem of trimmer and it then trims until down to factory length spec. also brass may very well not goe all the way into checker because no crimp has been applied/no bullet crimped...same issue is common with all cartridges that index on the case mouth in the chamber like 9mm, 380, 45 acp etc. been there and surely have done it in my own reloading journey!
In case you haven't already tried you should really try out using the dish from old scale and tare it, then put powder in dish and weigh it then pour into shell last, that way you only have to tare once for dish instead of every single time since all brass different. Also those dish are designed to be anti-static which helps as well
Alliant Power Pistol, Alliant BE-86, Winchester 231, Alliant HP-38, Hodgdon HS-6, Alliant Bullseye, Alliant Unique, Alliant Titegroup seldom if ever disappoint in the 9mm. You can play around with a lot of powders but these are ALL very well known and thoroughly time tested to work extremely well.
Lotta fidgeting around there. Load them suckkas in a mag, and have at it! My guess is they'll fit. I don't even own a .350 cartridge guage, but I have no problem getting my handloads to function flawlessly. If they don't function you start all over. Buy yourself a decent stationary case trimmer first of all. Long as you get it to go bang with good accuracy, you're good to go.
Its always fun to see new reloaders go orgasmic when a quality piece of equipment gets the job done. Now get that red piece of shit on the bench off of there and get a quality press from rcbs too. Anything else that is lee needs to go into the dumpster as well and replaced with quality.
I removed the Dillon expander, which is an impossible disaster to setup, and I replaced it with a Lee expander and a pro auto-disk powder measure, and ever since, it's been bliss.
Trim brass after firing then resize. 👍
I'm looking at getting a 350 cva single shot because Illinois is too fucking stupid. Any suggestions for loads on this?
So was it the lee dies, causing the problem
Others have stated no issues with the Lee dies, but I do know that once I switched I did not have a problem again.
Gracias por la detallada explicación
I had great results with 26gr of H110 with the 165 FXT in a AR Ploatformand cycled perfit every time.
No Vihta Vuori data ???
I have hornady 350legend brass nothing but trouble case expander crushing mouth case Starline brass no problem

3 and a half minutes to pic powder?
The perfect powder measure is anything but that it will get you close but it's not consistent
Using a variety of manufacturers cases could have a few thousandths of variation in the way it marries with the shell holder. Lateral press flex could add to that as well.
get a powder trickler. I stay strickiy RCBS dies I never had any problems. I dont like Lee dies they are Junk in my opinion.
My faves are titegroup and clays

Those cases have fire-formed to your rifle's chamber. Finish loading up the rounds and try them in your rifle. They will fit just fine.
your stars are upside down on your flag
A powder trickler is a big help. I ended up getting a RCBS Chargemaster Lite. Works great. It saves a tremendous amount of time and tedious work.

Waste of time! Just use RCBS .350 dies and prolems solved. Not sure why, but just works and makes the difference wasted my money on Lees this time.

Great step by step for a noob like me. Love the detailed explanation and close up shots. Thank you sir
Alliant Power Pistol was made for 9mm. You might check it ouit.
Do you have any data for titegroup 115gr hollow point reloads, plz?
hogdon has reloading data for all their powders on their website
you shouldn't crimp 350 legend... it head spaces on the neck.... and who case... size it for your chamber not that worthless peice of scrap metal

Just hold the case up inside the drop tube you can skip the funnel

Thanks for the kind words. Welcome to reloading! Enjoy the ride!
I'm not the only one? I've had powder suicides too.
taper crimp?

Cant here thang ua say bro tern up volume

The best case gauge is the chamber your going to shoot it out of use it not the case gauge

If your shell holder is wrong it will not allow case to go far enough into resiser die.
Have you got the proper shell holder looked lose to me.

I don't know the troubles you had with Lee dies but I have Lee dies for the 350 and had zero issues
I've loaded Winchester brass with no issues with the primer crimps. they cause no problem for me when I put my new primer in
The military doesn't use 350L and I've never seen a round with the primer crimped in either.
Next time try the CCI number 400's they seemed to be almost as consistent as the CCI BR's , n that's if u can fined them good luck n be careful
Can i use homemade gun powder in 9mm bullet ?

Don't worry about that little bit of it sticking up . I have other calibers that do that. No worries I'm sure it will chamber just fine
It’s not going to drop in all the way when you run it through the expanding die
