Full Motorcycle Restoration // 1972 Honda CB175 // Barnfind
If you want to see more about this motorcycle restoration, check out my channel. I found this barn find Honda CB175 bike on Facebook marketplace last summer. This was my first documenting a rebuild from start to finish so I decided to make a full video. There's a complete playlist of videos about this bike on my YoutTube.

Well I had a few hiccups along the way but the bike is done. I lost a lot of camera footage so this is what I managed to piece together. There are new handlebars, levers, mirrors, switches, a modified fender and customs taillight on this CB175 and it all came together at last.

I rode my CB175 from England to the South of France with my brother Mike on the pillion in 1977, so we could attend the Bol D'or 24 hour motorcycle race. People thought we were mad, a small reliable bike is enough for a great little adventure 😂

I have seen all of this before . But great to watch again . Are your mechanical talents natural or did you have a mentor . An FYI that is if you don't know . That round cylinder in front of the clutch basket is the oil filter . It's Honda's answer to an oil filter . There is a snap ring on the inside that comes out and a small drum on the inside . Removing the drum will aid in cleaning particles from the oil collected while running . Can't wait to see how you do on the 305 scrambler . I have much experience with these bikes and maybe answer questions about it . Pleased to see a young Lady interested in what I grew up with . Currently have an 83 Honda Goldwing GL 1000 on my lift bring back to life .

Good video, Liking the whole video production, choice of background music at the right volume in the mix, great editing with dry humor, wide angle lens with close-ups when called for. Tip-time, when doing a compression test, make sure that the throttle is wide open or that the carbs are off completely. Note the readings with "dry" cylinders, then introduce some oil to the cylinders & retest, if the compression rises, that indicates worn rings, if no change then that could be a issue with the valves (not sealing). check valve clearances before dissembling. recommend making yourself a "cylinder leak-down tester" lots of TH-cam videos on how to assemble one and all the parts are available at Hobo Freight (even the 1mm drill bit) ..... Cheers

Tank looks great. The tank finish on my '70 CL174K4 is messed up (came the way), both inside and out. The hardest part so far has been trying to remove the really bad tank liner that someone applied poorly. My bike came with the "Candy Topaz Orange" finish (which I love), but no way am I'm going to attempt to recreate that, so like you did, something custom will have to do. As someone who has some experience paint vintage/classic cars years ago, I will say that the correct temp & humidity is critical (unless you like sanding). Pro-tip, when trying to "feel out" the dings & dents, wear a thin cotton glove (or use a tee shirt), it really helps the hand glide over and find all the surface imperfections. I also have to repair my side-covers, so your video will be very helpful with that. Cheers
