Tweed Upholstery and Cedar Ceiling | 2018 Sprinter Conversion/ Camper/ Build
มุมมอง 3.4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey everyone. So I finally got to doing the trim upholstery and the wall panel upholstery. We chose a plastic based tweed. Turned out great. I used a water based adhesive called simalfa 321. Its a bit tough to work with, however WAY more safe than conventional upholstery adhesives. I also used 3M 90 contact adhesive on the wrapped sections. The tack just helps so much when doing this work. The ...
Sprinter Rhino Rack Roof Rail Review
มุมมอง 2.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey everyone! While I compile bigger up coming videos I've had this just sitting. Why not upload it. There seems to be confusion on the roof rails and if they work for sprinter 144s. They do work, however they are certainly not as robust as the oem's. www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/spares-brackets-components/roof-rack-parts/tracks/rts-tracks_rts523
400 WATTS OF SOLAR + 80/20 ROOF RACK | SPRINTER 144 VAN CONVERSION

Hey everyone! In this video I document the install of our new Jinko 400 watt eagle perc half cell and the building of the 80/20 rack around the panel. This panel is massive!!! 80in x 39.5in!! THE BEST VAN INSULATION IS / TIME LAPSE INSTALL! 2018 SPRINTER CONVERSION
มุมมอง 2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I do a quick time lapse of basic installation of 3m thinsulate in our 2018 sprinter conversion van. 3M Thinsulate SM600L is easily the best option for insulating or converting your camper van. DO NOT USE 3M THINSULATE SM400L. MAKE SURE YOU BUY SM600L. The difference is 3/4" expansion of thermal properties. As of this video I've used about 1.5 40ft rolls of sm600l on a 144" sprinte...
THE BIGGEST TIRES I COULD FIT ON MY 2018 SPRINTER RWD (w/ oem wheels)
มุมมอง 9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I installed BFG Goodrich KO2 tires on my conversion sprinter van. I researched a lot about what sizes to get. On the stock Mercedes Sprinter (RWD) oem wheels 265/75/r16 is the biggest tire without removing mud flaps and trimming. They're fairly quiet, and drive well. I chose the 10 ply over the 6 ply. They apparently last a LOT longer. Overall I'm pretty happy with this set up. JUST NEED TO PAI...

Hey everyone! Today I'm installing the entry gland for my solar panel wiring. Really easy job to do. I used the everland gland. VAN LIFE : SUB FLOOR & FLOOR INSULATION INSTALL 2018 SPRINTER VAN BUILD
มุมมอง 25K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey everyone! Today I'm posting the installation of my sub floor in my 2018 Sprinter 2500. My plan was to mount a sub floor with the OEM floor bolts, and then use the 3 lowest valleys in the metal to glue 3/4" wood strips from front to back. These I used to screw the sub floor down in the middle sections. This was a bit tough but all in all it worked well. As for insulation I put a specific typ...
Van Life : Sound Deadening (New Van Build Out!) 2018 Sprinter Van 144

Today in my first video I quickly timelapse through the process of installing a Butyl Sound Deadener. I used Second Skin Damplifier Pro Butyl Sound Deadener because it's pure rubber content. This is one of the first and most simple steps to starting your van build. It will help quiet down the tin can. Second Skin calls for 30% coverage. for how you would do it again (gluing the ply directly to the metal): do you believe the .5" gap below the ply would allow for enough air flow? I was under the impression that you wanted a bit of a space between the metal and subfloor to prevent mold/rust over the long run?

    Hi there! I'm looking to upholster my door panels and some other exposed bits only. Would you recommend applying the tweed directly to the doors (on top of some sound deadener)? I figure the seams and ugly bits would be hidden by the door seals but not sure if regular stretch auto carpet is a better bet. I just love the clean look of the tweed. Thanks and great job!

However when using 1/4" flooring and paired with 3/4 ply it added height I didn't want and also called for me trimming oem columns to fit correctly. • @outlaw7x77
    @outlaw7x77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Without watching this video but many MANY others this (your way) is pretty much how I decided to do it. I went with 1/2" rigid foam instead of thinsulate. I didn't add any deadening material however guessing it won't make that much difference. (Hoping) I did go with 3/4" tounge and groove plywood...it says right on it "24" O/C" so the 17" between the strips will be very solid. I glued down my 1" thick wood strips in the deep channels of the metal floor and then ripped 1/2" strips to fit all around the circumference of the outside edges. I'll screw onto the 1/2" with 1-1/4" drywall screws...at a bit of an angle. I'd thought about using the D-Ring holes like you too and I'm still at this point considering doing that...in fact this is the exact point I need to decide on that. I'm thinking it'd be nice to keep the D-Rings for tying or strapping things down with like if I decide to bring a motorcycle or something like that. I'd like to design my bed so that it can be easily removed in case I need to haul something like a Harley Davidson. So my idea is to keep the appropriate D-Rings intact (w/ longer bolts and router out around them so they fit flush with the floor. (I'd build a jig for routering.) Still not sure how to go about all that. I think maybe I'm wasting my time because its all going to be covered up with cabinets etc and wont be accessible and with wiring and plumbing heating etc wont be removable. Anyway...liked your video and subscribed today. I'd considered using biscuits but then decided instead on toung and groove.

    Great video thank you! Very nice installation looks great good craftsmanship! I would be concerned though about the seal on the solar panel between the aluminum and the glass being stressed from bolting the panel frame so close to the glass. I feel like thermal expansion alone could create a problem by trying to pull the panel frame away from the glass. Normally mounting a solar panel on the bottom edge of the panel frame allows for some flexibility and would not transfer so much force to the aluminum/ glass seal. It does look beautiful though I hope it works out!

    Great vid!! Love how to the point it is without any talking or waffling. Also love the neat biscuits joints, so satisfying! I'm thinking of using my plywood subfloor as my final finish for the floor? Obviously treating the plywood to be water resistant (im thinking of painting it and do some funky stencil pattern) and fill the seams but wanted you opinion on this? Ive not seen it done and wonder if there is a reason for that or actually it would work totally fine. Ive seen van lifers only put top flooring on the living space areas so guessed it would be similar idea to that concept. Would love your feedback.. cheers 😁🚐

    • @osirisvans8391
      @osirisvans8391 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Beth, I would not do treated raw ply. All the subfloor pieces must "click" together, with either tounge and groove cuts or biscuits. Otherwise the floor ends where they but against eachother will bend naturally. If I did this over: I'd do 1/2" subfloor ply with tounge and groove in them. For finishing the floor I'd do nothing other than aircraft grade lonseal. Use lonseal epoxy. Anything else will contract and expand and create problems later on. .

    Love your 400w solar panel. But the 80/20 mounting is very dangerous, your solar panel have chance to fly away! 1. NEVER use hidden corner connector in a car, it very easy to loose under vibration. Check your solar panel NOW and replace them by the anchor fastener, or joint plate instead. Apply lockrite is better. 2. Replace the short 80/20 connected with mount tower with a whole piece from left to right. My in cabin 80/20 with hidden corner connector screw popup after 1 hour off road drive. Good luck
