Take Cruella out of the “bad live action adaptation” please….it was a completely stand alone story that was fantastically delivered.

I think they were sooo focused on being socially acceptable that they forgot to build good character development. I hate to be that person but the dude they picked for Pan was a disaster. Scrawny boy that looked like he should have been part of the bunch vs the one leading it. I started watching the movie because I thought it was the old one. I made it 30 minutes in and had to choose something else because that new Peter and Wendy were annoying as all get out!

I also prefer the one from the original. Your right it really is off with the Remake. The original is perfect. I love Zack's everything oF old stuff. His awesome and also you are right that on Remake he sounds a lil dorky and nerdy at some times. It's not the Zack I know. Even Sephiroth has changed. When I say Remake I mean Reunion and Rebirth. Sephiroth has also changed on that one. Tifa as well is better on advent children then the on the Remakes. The power there too on Zack: What the Hell did you do Angeal?!. I miss their original voices too and I wish they could be added back like I know it will take a lot oF time to Remake with their original voices also almost Impossible because some oF the voice actors may are not around it- I don't know IF you get what I mean but I very much support you in this. Zack, Sephiroth, Tifa, even Aerith is too playful on the Rebirth.

One thing that put me off the movie pre-release was when they said they wouldn't be double casting Mr Darling and Hook which is a tradition in the stage-adaptations and is also the case in the 2003 movie. The reason is that both Mr Darling and Captain Hook represent Peter's true enemy, growing up and becoming a man. They also portray two very different outcomes of growing up, where both men are unhappy in their own ways (Mr Darling of course less so, but there are interesting aspects to the Darlings family-dynamic in the novel). Even though I believe that the trend to double cast started for practical reasons since the Darling parents only appear in the beginning and the end of the show, but still the analogy works. In the awful Peter Pan Live! - adaptation from NBC, Christopher Walken only plays Hook (and terribly might I add). But they do double cast Christian Borle (who I think would've been a far superior Captain Hook, especially if you've seen him in Peter and the Starcatcher) as Mr Darling and Mr Smee. You could almost claim that not double casting Mr Darling and Hook is kind of a theater superstition (like not saying the name Macbeth, not bowing during final rehersal, saying break a leg instead of good luck etc.) and both Peter Pan and Wendy and Peter Pan Live!, showcase that it could result in bad luck ie. the bad final product.

With 2D i notice much more style variations and what the animators where going for. But 3D movies feel like they blend more together into one CGI style.

I'm 35 and a guy so I was in 8th grade when this came out And I was just watching this yesterday And I'll admit I teared up a bit the chemistry peter and Wendy have is magic like the whole film It's similar to hook how it pulls at the heart strings It feels like a true adventure and one about growing up

2003 Peter Pan was such a great movie. I liked the way they presented the story. Neverland looked like such a beautiful magical place. Peter and Wendy were definitely presented the right way and had good chemistry as well. The movie Peter and Wendy was awful.It was dark and the story changes ruined it. I am a woman and I hated the feminist Girl Boss changes. Peter was weak and stupid. It was also supposed to be called Peter and Wendy Not Wendy Warrior Princess who smacks around Peter and mistreats him.She was insufferable and arrogant and bossy.There should have NEVER been Lost Girls. There was supposed to be a close friendship between Tink and Peter and he understood her,as did the Lost Boys.They were a family before Wendy showed up. Hook didn't like Peter for a totally different reason and Peter fed Hooks hand and a clock, to the Tick Tock Croc. The Indians were friends but Tiger Lily wasn't a Girl boss Peter Pan protector except for keeping his hideout a secret. I could go on and on but Bob Iger insists on taking EVERY beloved story and iconic character and destroying them. He makes them unrecognizable or alters them " for modern audience " All women are always Girl Boss. Stories are changed, characters are substituted either by another race or gender instead of actually taking the time to write NEW stories and NEW characters. It's a slap in the face to everyone. When most people hear Disney now or hear live action remakes, they groan and wonder what is going to be changed or what political ideology or soapbox messages are being slipped in. We hesitate instead of anticipate.

Huh, interesting. There was always something off about it to me, your points kinda nailed it. KH2 was peak design choice, but unfortunately I have a feeling that the designs we are going to see in KH4 are just going to be less interesting as time goes on, especially if they're going to focus on the Noctis / Yozora / FFVersus13 inspiration thing that Nomura is clinging to.

The 2003 movie was a big part of my childhood and rewatching it recently, and while not all of the effects aged very well, the movie still holds up even to this day. The most recent film? Yeah it was very stupid, hell, I'll even go this far to saying that it was worse than Pan from 2015. Sorry not sorry.

Why was there no comparison to the movie Hook from 1991, also based on Peter Pan story?

You wanna know something interesting? The last time I ever saw the full 2003 version, front to back, was at my grandmothers house on VHS in 2008. Yes, VHS. My grandma had an entire closet full of VHS and DVD's from years of Christmas' and Birthdays stockpiled. She also had a Sega Genesis and, sadly, Batman Forever on it and god, that was maddening to play. And yet, despite all that time since then, I still remember the 2003 Peter Pan and love it. Hook in particular is great, menacing yet charming. The 2023 mess of a movie is black holed memory and for good reason. When it's inevitably remade again, let's hope it's at least a passable movie compared to whatever in the nine burning hells Disney was trying with the '23 film.

I found the 2003 version by accident and Everytime I watch it, I’m spellbound. It’s so beautiful, the actors are so good in their roles, and you could tell a lot of passion was behind it! I’m really sad I don’t hear anyone talk about it as the best Live Action remake alongside Disney’s The Jungle Book from 2016

Need to keep in mind Film vs Digital too… movies are all digitally filmed now, no longer on film and it shows in the colour and quality of movies now… I’ve noticed older movies that were on film are just brighter in colour and seem just… more alive then those that are digitally filmed now… Just my 2 cents…
