    So for my weekly game I try and.. Keep it simple and play for quarters! Everyone can get a few rolls of them. Start with 1 quarter bets. Typically $1 max bet Low stakes-- High vibes!! As the host I keep roughly $100 (10 rolls) in quarters if anyone wants to buy back. I keep a cooler full or ice anyone can add their drinks to. Usually I make something easy for food like a taco bar or I have a few pizzas on deck. And solo cups. Table is in the garage so kids aren't interrupting. Heated and we have wifi out there. 32 inch roku TV for sports or whatever. I just need more friends and people to play with hahaha😅

    I only riffle when Im bored and not in a hand. When I'm in a hand, I rest my elbows on the rail, my chin in my hands (think Phil Hellmuth style), and I don't move except to take action, which I always do deliberately at the same speed.

      My rule is get however many of that denomination goes into the next highest chip -1 times 50. Sounds super complicated but it's not. For example 200 $1 chips, 200 $5 chips, 150 $25 chips, 200 $100 chips, 50 $500 chips and so on. This is suitable for 10 players. For 5-6 people I would multiply by 30 or 25 instead of 50.

    There’s one thing I don’t understand about this rule. Say you bet $15 and and I call using the one chip rule, and I throw in one $100 chip. Once someone wins the pot, they can’t take that $100 chip, it’s supposed to be $15. So what, are just supposed to remember how much you and give it to the winner after? Obviously that’s not practical. This seems like a very obvious answer and I’m just dumb but I can’t wrap my head around it.

    • @DallasLarson40
      @DallasLarson40 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha you’re good dude you’re not dumb. It’s usually put into effect on the river when the hand is over. If you were to win you would just take your $100 chip back. If you lose the dealer would make it right. It’s the dealers responsibility to make the pot right before they turn over the next card so if you throw in a $100 chip and the hand is still going they would give you $85 back or ask you to put the correct amount out. It’s kind of silly in some situations but you definitely need to be aware of it in case you are trying to raise.

    What about managing game speed? I had a game this past weekend where it got down to me and another guy, and we were going on 8 hours of play with an equal amount of chips when I said screw it and gave him my $20 because I had to go to bed! I've heard, raising ante, doing chip counts, etc. Interested to see what you would suggest. Thanks!

    • @DallasLarson40
      @DallasLarson40 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha that’s a crazy long game. This all comes down to preparing beforehand. I also had a game this past weekend that I hosted and before anybody got there I sat down and decided how long I wanted the game to be. Around 3 hours with 10 of us there. I then created the starting stack size and the blind structure beforehand. What I like to do is take the total amount of chips that are going to be on the table, and then structure the blinds so that around that 3 hour mark the blinds are high enough that it forces action and it doesn’t drag on forever. An extreme example would be if everyone starts with a 10,000 stack and after 3 hours the big blind is 200 and the small blind is 100, then yeah it’s going to take forever. Super long answer but taking the time beforehand to map out how long you want the game and what the starting stack and blind raises will be is going to help tremendously.

    • @ginpros
      @ginpros 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This helps. Definitely an increase to the frequency of raising the blinds is necessary, and was lacking in my last game. Another idea I had was liquidating the same amount of chips from each player's chip stack once a player gets knocked out. This can be tough though if there's a large discrepancy between the final two players. An increased ante structure will force action and in essence force players out before too long. I'm gonna have to put a few strategies into beta testing when planning my next game. Thanks for the reply, cheers!@@DallasLarson40

      You could instead run a cash game so that your chips are equal to $ and when someone wants to leave they can cash out at any time. Typically it's bad etiquette to cash out after winning a huge pot, in that case if you do need to he somewhere let the table know an hour or half an hour in advance if you plan on leaving.

    The dealers in all organized poker tournament hosted by casinos does a (what looks like) normal Overhand Shuffle. But while the dealer is shuffling they keep track of the cards they want to stack, and with a little practice they can manage to put the exact number of cards in between the cards they want to stack to make the next round of dealing favorable for whoever they choose.

    • @truerefuge5227
      @truerefuge5227 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      seriously doubtful. The standard 2 riffle-strip-riffle-cut shuffle with cards on the table is called a "standard casino shuffle" for a reason. You must live near the sketchiest cardrooms (doubt any licensed full casino is doing this) in the country to get that feeling. If the cardroom is successful at all they'll have table-inset shuffling machines anyway, not hand-shuffling.

    What better options are there for foldable tables?

    • @DallasLarson40
      @DallasLarson40 ปีที่แล้ว

      Foldable tables like this will generally be about the same. Some may have better felt than others. The cup holders will always be shallow due to the fact that if they are deeper the table wouldn’t fold up completely. I’ve looked into replacing the cup holders just to see and unfortunately you would have to cut through some of the plastic on bottom to do so. Are you looking for one in about this same price range?
