Good morning. Groeten uit Atlanta. Thank you for these tips of how better to behave while on Sint Maarten and how to appreciate how wonderful the experience should be. I have visited 3 times Sint Maarten: 2 were simply day passes from a cruise ship, which gave us the small feel of the island and its beauty and character, and the 3rd time was an entire week spent on Simpson's Bay Lagoon, albeit from the French side near Nettle' Baie. We thoroughly enjoyed much of the free time activities offered on Sint Maarten: beach, shopping, dining, meeting people from around the globe as well as the local people. I enjoyed trying to speak Dutch, but the locals probably didn't like my attempts. On Saint Martin, one could speak English, but I can do that at home. So, I really appreciated the French allowing me to practice my language skills on their side. The French were very accommodating linguistically and didn't mock my accent. Now that over 30 years have passed, I am certain the island has developed even more so than during our visit, and I am eager to return to experience the new activities. WOW ! My family (both mothers and fathers) come from Saba Island. (Next door to Statia). I have only stopped over on the WinAir flights going to St.Maarten and never thought much about visiting Statia. I had no idea that they had a nice modern resort. Next time I go , I will spend a few days !

I’m in st Martin now, for my sons 13th bday. I was so excited to go to Rusty Rockets and let him try the amazing burger. I was very sad to see it closed. You inspired me to travel. Our next stop is st Lucia. Your channel is great, you’ve truly been a great insight to traveling out of my comfort zone.

Two things come to mind. A) Being in a position where opportunity aligns capability thereby allowing this transition to transpire is a privileged position to be in. One of the last places you’d think about is the Costco clone CostULess. It was so much fun shopping for cheap alcohol there and the prices are awesome compared to the US.

Basically, bring your own snacks, liquor, and cover-up in public because it's expensive to purchase there due to imported items being expensive. Anticipate power outages and tourist traps.

Hello and good morning, you have a nice and informative channel! We are two friends from Germany and are looking for a nice and quiet place for our two-week vacation. Is there a place/place to stay overnight and a beach without stray dogs? We urgently need rest and a good night's sleep and don't need a nightlife. We would prefer a place to sleep without WiFi, as this is very harmful to health and robs us of even more sleep (this is terrible in Germany) and also damages nature. We love the Caribbean flair (we have only been to East Mexico once) and eat vegan. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of money, as we have to pay the highest taxes in the world. And we had to save for five years for a cheap vacation. Very bad times have begun in Germany, 40-60 years ago our country was better off because many more people believed in God. The further people move away from God, the more judgments (also in the form of extreme weather and much more) God sends them. We should turn back to God, whose name is Jesus Christ, and repent of our sins. Only then can he be merciful to us again. If we turn to other gods or idols or even worship them (these can also be material and occult things or people or hobbies), we have lost. Eternal life is only in Jesus Christ; he is the way and the truth and the life (has nothing to do with religions or churches, just with the only truth). Now I have written a lot, but it is valuable to know. With this in mind, I wish you a nice and blessed day, dear Riselle. And we hope to get to know you one day.

Couple of suggestions from a southerner (one who is used to sun and warmth, like yourself) who lived in the PNW for a few years. Fall/winter there is rough, honey. Dreary, depressing, isolating, and kind of fucked up for one's mental health. But don't let this scare you. Most days this time of the year are dark and grey and wet. I suggest getting outside as much as possible, starting early in the day; even if it's grey, just 10-15 minutes outside will help with melatonin coming later in the day. When you are used to sunshine all the time like in the Caribbean, you may experience some insomnia in the PNW. I certainly did. ALSO: TAKE VITAMIN D supplements, eat lots of salmon! Because you'll be eating better and exercising more, you might find your body changing. Mine certainly did! Embrace creative projects, reading, etc. Portland is a beautiful, quirky place, ideal for creatives. It's a good place and time of year to slow down -- I mean REALLY slow down -- and write and read and work on yourself. I found PNW natives, although nice enough, to lack warmth -- most people who aren't southerners or Caribbean lack warmth!; you may find them standoffish, awkward, and unfriendly ... but there are tons of introverts in the PNW, people who aren't used to having to communicate or collaborate and interact like, for example, in New York City. So don't take any of this personally; PNWers are just kind of weird like that, although kind and helpful. You have mentioned in previous videos about your struggles with mental health. As someone who also struggles with this, you may want to consider psychedelics while you're there -- which are legal in Oregon -- yes, I remember you saying substance/drugs, etc. isn't good for you personally... but honestly psychedelics are therapeutic and are known for rewiring the brain's neural pathways. Mushrooms are really medicine. Check out the book, "How to Change Your Mind." I suggest going to Seattle from time to time; it's got salt water and beaches! (Puget Sound) ... and don't forget, you can always go to the sunny side of either state -- just over the mountains to the dessert part where the sun shines! You'll be fine, and you'll return to the islands appreciating it more. Good luck to you!
