Just found you, from UK. I have never seen a senior box. Do you guys get then regularly? They look great. We had salt cut down in lots of our foods, they didn't stop manufacture, just jigged the canned food.. Then came sugar & same scenario! We all add our own bit of LoSalt and maybe a bit of Canderel to sweet stuff! You look great, thank you for posting, really interesting seeing other foods.

Yes ringing the canned fruit off ,does in fact removes most of the high fructose corn syrup, because that's nearly all in the liquid .❤

How do you get Senior Boxes? What organization does it? I know each town is different. I'm a senior now, 62, paid my dues, so I wondered where you get them from.

Theres this wild solution thats super unheard of, its called "training your animals".

If you don't feel like eating just plain old beef stew, you can make some biscuits (either from scratch, if you have all the ingredients, or from a baking mix) and have the biscuits with the stew -or- you can split the biscuits and put the beef stew on top of them, which is one of my favorite things to do. And rinsing canned fruits can indeed help reduce some of the sugar content.

Hi new viewer from NW Florida. I have a suggestion for the canned pears. I get no sugar added fruits from Winn Dixie. I make a can last four servings by putting the fruit with some cottage cheese. I cannot eat dairy, but my husband loves all sour milk products! LOL He's got heart issues so he eats oatmeal to keep his cholesterol down. I pour the fruit juice from the can over his oatmeal before I cook it. Then, he's got "pear flavored" breakfast. When he was young he'd slurp the juice from every can but now he has to watch for sugars, excess salts, LOL you name it. The juice from the canned fruit can be used judiciously. We both grew up poor and have saved here and there all our lives and paid off everything early! <3

I love buttermilk pie. I never use lemon or nut meg. First time I heard about this pie I was like gross. Thought the same about cheese cake. Now I love them both. Stop calling the pie crust ugly, who cares I go for taste not presentation. I put vanilla extract but no Cinnamon. I joined YT to watch videos as well. Learned how to fix my dishwasher then a tail light on my truck. I'm here for the fun. Sometimes I even get YT burnout. Looks like it turned out really good.

The buttermilk in the ice tray is a good idea, maybe I could do the same with regular milk,,,, still watching

You could use what pumpkin you need then put the rest in ice trays & freeze, then just pop it out into a freezer bag. To tablespoons should fill a cube so its slready messured out

Love macaroni and tomatoes. Another yummy pasta dish is to add chili (either homemade or canned, whatever you have on hand) to spaghetti. I'm not a big fan of chili, but I love it mixed in with sketti. You can top it with shredded cheddar cheese and diced onion if you like. Another great budget-friendly meal.
