SJC Deserted
มุมมอง 404 ปีที่แล้ว
I had to deliver a young lady to San Jose International airport on Saturday evening, April 4th. Although I'd heard that airline traffic had slowed, SJC's lack of activity was truly amazing. Said young lady pulled her two bags inside the door and three SouthWest employees rushed to open the closest 'window' to accept her bags, minimizing the number of her steps required. Double amazing. I sat in...
Build Your Own Truck Bed Tent Deck
มุมมอง 52K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Would you like a Rooftop Tent for your truck? Rather not spend that much money? This video shows how to build a deck on your truck's bed that allows mounting an inexpensive truck bed tent, providing most of the benefits of elegant rooftop tents. And the design offers several additional advantages as well. Got time on your hands during the Wuhan Flu pandemic? Spend a day and build one yourself. ...
How to Upright an Overturned Truck--"Executive Summary Version"
มุมมอง 2384 ปีที่แล้ว
OK, I understand. Yesterday's truck rollover & recovery video was "TLDW". You'll like this one better since it skips the mundane tasks and emphasizes the highlights of how the professionals righted a large truck that was on its side, diagonally across both lanes of a mountain road. Complicating the recovery was a power pole next to where the cab landed and soft shoulders on both roadsides. If y...
How to Upright an Overturned Truck
มุมมอง 2664 ปีที่แล้ว
When a truck hauling tons of decomposed granite overturned, I had a front-row seat for an interesting demonstration of rescue know-how. The truck, blocking both lanes of the road, landed next to a power pole and power lines so there was no easy way to flip it back onto its wheels. Maybe not an easy way, maybe not a fast way (it took almost 5 hours), but there was a way. A good way. As you will ...

Need a HUGE Hard Disk?

How would you like an "almost infinite" capacity computer hard drive? This video presents a technique to implement a very large virtual disk without resorting to costly NAS (Network Attached Storage) hardware or flimsy "Storage Spaces" software. For example, it allows accessing files and folders physically located on a D: drive via a link on your C: drive, convincing your computer that the file...

Fighting the Bear Fire (November 16, 2018) from the air. This fire, which started around 11 AM, was basically out before dark, due in large part to the aggressive air attack by helicopter, fixed wing propeller, and fixed wing jet aircraft. Mini Solar Tip; You can steplessly dim down a bulge and all other hungry electricity consumers with a 5000W dimmer (7, EUR). I run 5 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 200...400W. Iron, dishwasher, oven, electric heater, coffee machine, all internal heating are throttled with me. Videos about it on my channel th-cam.com/video/eC2olbCBhh0/w-d-xo.html The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs remain intact because extreme current peaks no longer arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to sell large devices...

Creativity for enhancing remote camping, two thumbs up, as I’m on my second truck bed tent and this has given me ideas to improve and build on. Beautiful property you are on as well. I guess I must have missed something. Where did you get the tent and what kind is it? Why is the bottom of the tent stuffed inside the bed? Won't that allow rain to get in the bed of the truck bed? Did the tent come with the awning over the tailgate? How are the risers attached to the truck? You also said you use the bottom as a tonneau cover. Does that mean that you raise it high enough to be level with the bed of the truck? If so how do you do that?

    • @k6xx793
      @k6xx793 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      K6XX - It is just the cheapest tent designed for a full-sized truck found on ebay. Was $99 in March 2020. Looks like they are about $140 now. It came with the awning. Search for "truck bed tent" and you'll find lots to chose from. -bottom is inside the bed because that's the way the design works. It is a _truck bed_ tent. -It woks in the rain OK. The tent bottom is waterproof and the truck bed drains, so water does not accumulate. Risers attach to the truck in the holes along the sidewalls. The deck is NOT flush with the sidewalls, since this wouldn't work with the tent. It is similar to a tonneau cover.

    • @k6xx793
      @k6xx793 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment. Simple answer: yes. The truck bed tent (see eBay, etc.) fits into the truck bed very neatly, but with the deck installed you get three main benefits: 1. No wheel well humps to deal with 2. A flat surface, which is much more comfortable than the corrugated metal truck bed 3. Storage. Whether in motion or set up for camping, you may store your things under the deck. They don't have to be moved every time you move.

    Consider a Softopper, it folds down in a minute for full bed excess. It is a weather tight sleeping area, if you build a drawer system it's even better. No set up or take down, just unload or load any gear that doesn't fit in the drawers.

If we could just extend that to civics...

    Great video. This DC-9 flew literally less than 500 feet altitude above my house yesterday. Me and a friend were working and I couldn't grab my camera fast enough, (and my batteries were dead anyway) otherwise it would have provided incredible video. These pilots are literally like stunt pilots. They had that DC-9 turning at a bank angle I thought not possible for that airframe (though it was probably less extreme than it looked). Thank God they knocked it down within a day, as I was going to start packing up my belongings and loading the car, like last year. The fire started closer to 11:00AM because I could see smoke at about 11:30 and went up on my roof to have a closer look with binoculars.
