Hi Andre, Great to hear from you, hope you are well. This lake unfortunately has pretty much closed down now as a carp lake. Lack of advertising I think was its downfall. There are other lakes to try there inc the predator lake which I believe is still open. @@Fishing_in_Thailand I've not long gone from to 12lbs main with 10lbs hook length. Was on 10 with an 8, which was much more accurate, but everything gets trashed so quickly it was doing my head in.

@@TLFarm Yes mate. I have to admit I was on 5lb hook length with a size 12 Guru UK hook and got seen off on the Sunday so moved up to 6lb and a size 8 Animal hook which is about the same as a Thai 8. Its nice having the soft action hyperloop rod which softens the takes from the fast fish. On a stiffer rod the balance would be lost and I would certainly have to go 8lb straight through or even 10lb as you do.

@@Fishing_in_Thailand bang on mate. Can't stand pokey rods and overly thick diameter lines. They cast and play fish like a pig on a skateboard. I was super lucky that a mate brought out a 10ft Drennan pellet Waggler. Casts well and bends from about 2ft above the reel. Looking to my mate and mum coming out in just over a month. 2 weeks of solid fishing. He mainly targets the catlas. I'm gonna target the Chaos and Giant Snakeheads....Knowing my luck I'll probably end up hooking Toon's horrible Gar!

@@TLFarm Pig on a skateboard!! lol, its lovely when you have the right gear and its all balanced like that. Loving the vibes with your mum and mate coming over and some solid fishing vibes. How big is the 'orrible gar!?! lol

He's done an amazing job, all very organic and gradual building it nicely there mate. Chuffed to bits for him. Think the fish on my arm is one of the grass carp he has in there mate. Vibes in 2026 all being well!! 😉

Yes, it was a great session all round. Everyone had a brilliant weekend. Mad barb are beautiful looking fish aren't they. I (Danzak) use 3lb tc rods, for the method feeder fishing. But you can easily use a strong match or quiver tip rod, that works just as good there. Cheers

I think it's 2000b for 2 carp rods. Its 1,500b for 1 carp rod. I'm not sure what the 1 carp rod, 1 predator rod price is. I will ask next time we go. Cheers Michael

Cheers mate, yes was nice to fish the stick. I brought a load more back from my trip to the UK so looking forward to fishing with them when the rivers drop to reasonable levels. I have fished the pole on lakes with smaller fish, always worry about hooking a big fish in the river or lakes with large fish and getting smashed up!! lol

It was great fun mate, you would love it. I have just arrived back from the UK and got myself and Callum a range of stick floats to use from Angling Direct. Cant wait for the rivers to return to normal level, probably in November and get back on them all being well.

@@Fishing_in_Thailand. Love the rivers that time of year. Toon & I used to bag-up on the river Ping 30 minutes away. Mostly on the cage feeder & whips, but a stick float would have run through a treat. Each time I think back of all my match gear I flogged before moving to Thailand it brings a tear to my eye. I even had a 13ft spliced tip stick float rod! At least now I have a pellet Waggler rod. Great fun with a small 2500 reel and light DW Waggler. Happy days.

@@TLFarm I know mate, selling tackle is always dangerous but sometimes unavoidable due to circumstances. I am gradually bringing more and more over each time I go back (not that I have a lot thats that interesting) I do have an 18ft long rod we used on the rivers in the south west, hopefully have a situation where I can use it now I have the stick floats!! Vibes

@@carlward7372 First time we went to the raft in Bann Pong was in October while on a bit of a road trip. Was a waste of time. We have the contacts for the lady Dang that speaks very good English on the raft so she can let us know when the rivers back in good condition or send photos of the river so we have a good idea of how it is.

Thanks Shane. They are lovely in there most over 10lb, but hard to catch. Which keps us coming back & trying again for them. Weve had them upto 19lb.5lbs. Which is as big as you'll find anywhere in Thailand. Apart from Lek's that has some imported ones

The Carp in there are certainly a challenge to catch. Makes it more rewarding, when you finally catch one. Pacu can be a real pain when they are biting you off all the time. Certainly dont want to be using expensive hooks. Ive only ever caught 1 Pacu out of there & Harvery has too. So, weve be lucky enough not to have had the problem you had. Thanks for your comment

@@Fishing_in_Thailand The carp sure are a challenge in Sintara Fished it regular till about 6 months ago, when I think they put in a stock of Pacu which caused my issues Then had issues with my vision so been unable to fish it since Problems solved and I will be back fishing there again Hope to meet you there someday Tight lines

Cheers Ian, Yes mate, I honestly had one of the greatest experiences of me life (Iv'e not done much though lol) a fish would have been nice, just one on the lure around 5lb would have been great like the one John had but if you let not catching ruin your experience as you said you are not an angler. Well worth a visit. Have some huge Siamese carp & Arapaima in & they are stocking new fish
