IMM 5533 - Document Checklist, Supporting Documents, Photos, Letters - Inland Spousal Sponsorship
Here's how to fill out the IMM 5533.
In my case, it's specific for an inland spousal sponsorship, but these steps may be applicable for other applications also.

Additional Details:
Information about Previous Examination (to be completed by Sponsor)
This depends on if you were already married while your spouse got their PR. Since in my case, I was not, I selected “No”. For an Inland Application, the PA is already in the country, meaning they already have a visa, and so the answer should be “No”
Part B, Supporting Documents for Sponsor #5
If you are not working in Canada, provide other documentation showing you can support the person(s) you are sponsoring.
For this - Upload your bank statements with a substantial balance. There is no guidance on the substantial balance, but you can refer to this link for an estimation. - www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/proof-funds.html
Also include a letter of explanation on how you will support yourself and the sponsored person(s).

Hey ryan just wondering have you gotten your pr?
hey, yes I got it in 9 months
I am unable to sign this form in adobe (in window) any suggestions?
What if you had 2 jobs at the same time, do we have to mention both for 1 time period?
Hello everyone, I remember entering "none" in Section G: Military and paramilitary service on the IMM5669 form, but this information is not reflected in the downloaded PDF document. Additionally, I noticed that the downloaded IMM5669 lacks the "Name of country or territory" field, which is present in the online version. I had entered "none" in that section as well, but it is missing from the downloaded document. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
My husband met my parents virtually and have not met them in person yet. Is that ok to put their meeting virtually in Question 7 “Do your friends, family, or children know about your relationship?” Section Date when they met the sponsor/principal applicant”
Hi, did you also fill IMM5562 form for travels, I haven’t travelled to any other country except here(CA), do I just mark did not travel?
@@simranbatth412 hi, I did not fill that, didn’t start the form.
@ does that mean its not mandatory if you have only lived in india and Canada
@ it's not required for "inland" sponsorships
Hello Ryan!! I have a question On 08:22 whose last name first name sponsor or PA
hey, about supporting documents such as PCC, birth certificates are to be submitted by principal applicant only? right?
@@simranbatth412 hi, yes that’s correct
VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO
What could I do if there's not enough space to write the names in both languages, bc all of us have really Long last names?
@@_shijil hi, I’m not sure on this one bud, maybe upload a letter of explanation
Do I have to include part time job details while on study permit? Please advisr
@@jeez-h3m hi, yes I did that for my application
@ Hi I did submitted the pnp non express today. As a part of the application, I did write my name in my native language. However, After submitting the application, I did downloaded the application package, and did noticed that the pdf form imm5669 does not showed the native labguage, instead it shows square black boxes. Is it normal?
@ it's likely an issue with the software on your end not being able to show those scripts, don't overthink. good luck.
@@ryan.shirazi The scripts were showing in the online form, but not in the final pdf after submitting the application
Hii ,Do I need a noc b job inorder to sponsor my spouse or any noc code will work? Thank You
@@gaganpreetkaur3984 I’m not sure if that matters for spousal sponsorship, what matters is if you can support your spouse financially so I’m guessing any Noc code could work.
Where does it says about the native language name should be written? @Ryan_Shirazi
I'm so bad at explaining. First, it said that the principle applicant is the spouse outside Canada, and you yourself fill as PA, not spouse. It's so confusing.
Hi there, I'm applying as a British Citizen my Spouse is a Canadian Citizen. I'm currently in Canada living with my spouse. Would I need to submit the (IMM 5289) and PR application along with my open work permit together?
Nicely explained, thank you very much 😊
Very helpful!
Your videos are very helpful
On the PR portal do we need to apply as a sponsor or the one who is being sponsored ?
Hi, Do we need to do the medical again for the inland application?
hi@Ryan, I'm on a study visa (international student) and my spouse is a canadian citizen, so we are about to start the sponsorship application. So my question is, can i also apply for open work permit at the same time, despite the fact that am on a study visa?
Hello sir Thank you so much for your perfect videos about inland spousal pr appreciation. One question Did you update marital status to CRA during pr process or before!? Both are inland so
Hey, glad you found it helpful. I changed the status on CRA before applying since we had to file taxes.
I did not write n/a in children section is that ok?? Or i have to raise webform?
It should be ok
Hi, Did you put your travel from India to Canada in your personal history?
Don't we have to sign/declaration in the end?
Hi Ryan! Can you share the timeline on when did you lodge your papers and when did you get approved for PR? That would be helpful, thanks!
Hi, I scanned all of my documents using CamScanner, and all of them have a watermark at the bottom. Will that be okay?
@@Gymmotivation_by_Harshit Hi, I’m not sure but I guess it should be okay. If you have an iPhone you can use the notes app to scan the documents and that won’t leave a watermark.
Hi Ryan, thankyou for your series - really healpful. Can you help which section did you uploaded all your combine photos of various events?
Hi, glad it helped you. I believe I uploaded that in "proof of relationship"
Did you add dependent ij your application??? I am applying for my husband but i added my name there as dependent but i am not sure if it is correct. Please respond
@@shanellehenry6119 hi, no I didn’t add, and If you read the description there it says add those dependants who are “applying” for permanent residence. In your case If you are applying for your husband you don’t need to add yourself as dependent since you’re already a permanent resident.
@@ryan.shirazi Thank u. I understand now. Thanks for replying
really helpful video. straight to the point.. thankyou
Hi rayan so I got a pre arrival letter what exactly those that mean cause i applying from inside Canada and I have a open work permit cause I came and study here then I got married so if possible can u explain the per arrival letter for me thank you 😊😊
Hi Ryan, Hope you are doing well. My situation is exactly the same like yours and thanks a bunch for uploading all the videos clearly. I followed them as it is. I hope you got your PR now. A request for you: I have submitted my application with all the supporting docs and linked the account with IRCC. Later, I received biometric letter & inivitation to pre-arrival services in my account. A day ago I received an email with the subject as communication to client - CTDM - Inland APR Eligibility Decision Letter, explaining to have TRV, open work permit, RPRF etc. I have everything that's mentioned. Going further, what all docs or communication will I receive from IRCC? Can you suggest the order and the average timeline please, so that, I will be clear and wait for the next step. Waiting for your reply. Thank you.
Hi Ryan, for the principal applicant photo, did you combined scanned back of your photo with digital file from studio or front side is also scanned and then cropped?
@@RajBathani-w6l hi! the former. The front is digital version combined with the scan of the back. And combined them both as a pdf
Hello! I'm just starting my application and we have the same situation. I am the Principal Applicant and currently on my PGWP. I would just like to confirm for the highest educational level, eventhough I have studied Bachelor's from my home country, we need to put "Post-graduate - No degree"? Thank you!
Hi, yes I did my bachelors in my home country and a post baccalaureate diploma in Canada and for highest level put - post graduate, no degree 👍
Hi Ryan, thank you for doing a video on the update version. I have a big urgent question. 1) where do I upload my 20 photographs. It asked for separate explanation letter for the photos. Does I combine all? 2) where should I upload the utilities or joint account information . Please reply Urgent
Hi, answers to your questions are in the video after the 23:30
@@ryan.shirazigreat thanks so much for the prompt reply. However I couldn’t see where and how you uploaded your 20 photos. Can you please guide me ?
Hi, for documents with my sponsor name , do we need to put their last and first name in the file naming ?
Hi. Thank u for your video. It is a great help! I just wanted to ask how many letters of support from friends and family have u submitted? Thanks
Hi. Glad you found it helpful. I just submitted 1 letter from my brother in law.

Hi , thanks for the videos , I have a quick question regarding Medicals and Biometrics. 1) I have a Medicals document which I got while I was applying for study visa three years ago, should I upload it? 2) I have paid the processing fee and biometrics fee, Will I receive a request from IRCC to give biometrics after submitting the application. 3) there are additional documents that we have like my Canadian work experience and proof of funds. Do I need to submit them as well to make the case strong? Please let me know . Thank you
Hi. I did not submit the medical document when I applied. When I set up the application tracker, it automatically had details about the medical document. Yes you will receive a Biometrics Instructions Letter, I got mine within 2 months. You could submit those. I also submitted my tax return and pay stubs to make the case stronger.
Bro i already have a open work permit and job so for which one i should apply inland or outland? someone told me if i apply for outland PR from inside canada i would be able to travel even my application will be in process
I was in the same position and applied inland. I also heard that you cannot travel if you apply inland, and it didn't affect me because I had no plans. I don't know about outland.
hey, your videos are really helpful, I am applying for my own inland spousal sponsorship application, could you suggest how to provide and format supporting documents such as letters from friends, proof of relationship section including how to provide photos, chats and all this stuff. Will you be making a video on these topics?
@@j.c.q hi, thanks! You can make them on Google docs / MS word.
Where did you upload your wedding/engagement photos and explanation letter? was it the additional documents or under the regular photo? I am really confused there
@@SaimaHoque-f6d those were under additional documents - proof of relationship. Where it says “photo” you’ve to upload your digital photo with the name, location, date, etc at the back. This was explained in the video
If it's an Inland Application I guess you Don't need to submit the 5562 form right? In your video it was left blank... Did you submit that form at the time of real Application? Response is appreciated. Thanks
I did not submit that.
@ryan.shirazi thanks ryan
Hey, my situation is same and these videos are really helpful. I have one question about medical. The ircc website said that if you gave medical before coming to Canada and is still valid ( less than 5 years ) just upload it with the application. So do I need to? I know you typed N/A under that. Thank you
@@amandeepgill6130 hi, Thank you! I did NOT upload it. Since it’s an inland application it’s probably assumed you’ve been in Canada itself for quite sometime. I think you only have to upload it if you’ve spent more than 6 months outside Canada in some certain countries, after the first medical test. After I set up the application tracker, the date till which the medical test was valid, automatically appeared on there.
Hi your videos for spousal sponsorship are really helpful I have one quick question the document that you create for the Sponsor's employment history continued you labeled with your name or your name and where you upload that in additional document i mean to say under which
@@ridhimaAngra hi, thank you! I labelled that that under my spouses name, and I don’t remember the category exactly, maybe it was “additional documents” or something related to “employment history”. Either should be fine in my opinion.
@@ryan.shirazi Thank you so much for your videos-they've been incredibly helpful! I have a quick question: Where should I upload the IMM 5532E continuation file? Should it be submitted alongside the form in the PDF Forms section, or does it belong in the Additional Supporting Documents section?
@@manikandan7073 hi, thanks! additional documents
Hi Ryan, just double checking on something. I (sponsor) will be filing an inland application for my wife (PA). We have been living together since Sept 2022. Considering that both sponsor and PA are living together, we are not required to submit proof of contact like whatsapp chats from the time we were dating to present right? The answer to this should be fairly obvious judging by this form itself but we've been told by a couple of immigration consultants that we do need to provide whatsapp chats so we are a bit confused on that front
@@hmak2104 hi. No you don’t have to provide chats for inland application. I did not, neither did my friend who recently submitted his. You have to provide photos from social media, official ceremonies, etc. For most cases it should be simple enough to submit your application yourself, I’d say save your $$$ if you need to.
@@ryan.shirazi - Hello again Ryan, I just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos. They were extremely helpful. I had another quick question. How long did it take you to receive your AOR and Biometric Instruction Letter?
@@hmak2104 hi, glad you found the them helpful and thanks for letting me know, it makes me feel good. Good luck! Received AOR within a month & half and BIL in 2 months.
Under which category did you submit driving license and phone bills etc. what will be the naming category for these, cause we already used proof of relationship to sponsor for rental agreements?
@@Nikhi-rf3lq hi. I had submitted those under proof of relationship as well.
@@ryan.shirazi Thank you! But, so do we need to make it all included in a single pdf(phone bills, ids, insurance papers) file and upload it under proof of relationship right?
@@Nikhi-rf3lq I uploaded all separately by reselecting the category.
