Thanks for sharing how to get to the airtrain. Very good walk through.
I got pickpocket at Jamaica Station -_-
Sorry to hear that - how long ago?
@@ridetrainz December 2021 for New Years eve. They were ready.
I remember taking the 7 train every day from Woodside to Grand Central. I think there's another escalator further down the platform that skips that middle level. I remember it being a very long ride down. I wonder if the 7 train is as deep as the new LIRR terminal at Grand Central.
Yes at the west end of the platform escalators go from platform to mezzanine level. 7 train platform 80 Feet below street level. LIRR is 150 feet below street level
@@ridetrainz Ah... I thought I remembered those escalators. Sure SEEMED like the 7 train platform was a lot deeper than 80 feet back in the 1980s when I used that station. It was so decrepit that it seemed like it was in the depths of hell, LOL!
hate this walk 😭

It looks like the R211
Thanks for watching. These are R160 type cars, however plans are to move 4 five R211 car sets to the G line
The station was at one point the busiest in the USA (?world?). In the 60s or 70s more than half the station was demolished. It had about 30 stub end tracks and an underground loop. It now has only 13 tracks and the loop is long gone. Until the 30s there was a steel and glass shed over the tracks that was taken down due to erosion from the salt air - it’s very close to the harbor. In the 60s it was almost torn down completely. The open ceiling in the concourse dates from a later renovation. It originally had a coffered ceiling much like that in the Acela Club. Sheply Rutan and Coolidge was the architectural firm. It was the successor to HH Richardson’s firm. Richardson is probably the most famous USA architect of the 19th century for whom Richardsonian Romanesque is named.
Thank you for adding this interesting information.
Gta subway would be cleaner than NY subway
Without a doubt - thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks for the walk through
Unusual day without access to the rest of the station

does this train go to nyc city center? how long does that take from there? nice video
This train line is unique in that it does not go into Manhattan (city center) but runs between Brooklyn and Queens. However there are many opportunities to transfer to Manhattan bound trains from the G line.
nice station, nice floor
Yes nice thank you!
The DC Metro has come a long way since I first rode it in the early 1970s.
Yes it has, thanks for watching and commenting!
15:57 While you are correct that they go slow because workers are present, they actually have to go slow around that corner regardless as there are grade timers there that regulate the speed of the train around the curve prior to entering the station. It's also why you see a red light inside the station at 15:37. That light will clear green as long as the train passes the two shot timer entering the station at the designated speed. Awesome video!
Thank you for watching and clarifying regarding train speeds
Is this Union Station in Washington ???
Union Station Alexandria VA the next stop after Washington DC
Love the live video. Safe travels on your two day split up trip.
Thanks so much for watching!
I would also take the LIRR from Mineola, Long Island to Penn Station or Grand Central Madison, New York.
If I did a trip like that, I would take the uptown 4 or 5 train from Fulton Street to Grand Central-42 Street and take the LIRR from Grand Central Madison to Bayside, Queens. Or Take the E train from World Trade Center to 42 Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal, or take the 2 or 3 train from Fulton Street to Times Square-42 Street, and/or take the R or W train from Courtlandt Street to Times Square-42 Street and took the S or 7 train to Grand Central-42 Street and took the LIRR from Grand Central Madison to Bayside, Queens as well.
Great live video with Q&A
Thanks - unfortunately held the phone the wrong way - live and learn

Are they changing it to a different locomotive?
Yes, electric power NYC to Washington diesel power Washington to Savannah
I'm thinking about leaving from this station but I need to leave my car there. Is it safe there?
I took an Uber to from the station. The station is well staffed during the hours of boarding - four trains per day. I don't know how well the parking lot is monitored. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
guy on his phone with his back completely exposed.. folks never learn 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for watching and commenting. Just my personal observation - passengers generally get more cautious after a well publicized pushing, but eventually let their guard down a bit.

They're trying to survive get over yourself and Mr not perfect....
Thank you for watching and commenting. There are better ways to help homeless people than sheltering on the subway. It's dangerous to them - recently a homeless woman was set on fire and died. The city run shelters are dangerous and many homeless don't want to use them. Subways are not the answer - better to increase security in the shelter system..I agree it's a complicated problem.though.
They got to look for help, but they won’t !!!!!
Thanks ❤
My pleasure
This is an interesting video. As a youngster in Berlin in the 1950s, I was a fan of the S-Bahn and U-Bahn.
Sorry for being so blunt with my first question about the upload resolution. Now, it shows up in 1080 HD. I like the way you present your videos with detailed descriptions. I used to ride the subway on occasion in the early 1970s when in NYC, purchasing used tires from EJ Corvette stores and going to Hunts Point market to look for truckers with no loads to take them to Fayetteville, NC. I once took the subway from the Bowery to downtown Manhattan at 2:30 am and felt quite uneasy.👍❤ Now a new Sub here.
Thank you for your kind remarks. Just announced the Police Commissioner adding 200 more to patrol the subways!
Happy a clean train geek

Why did you film this video at 240p?
Hi Frank - I used my Pixel phone to record. I didn't have any control over the p setting. I am showing 720p not good but better. I think I was low on storage and the phone went into "ration" mode. Thanks for watching and commenting
