2-stroke performance engine - special JAWA piston repair
Good day again.
This video, effectively is a result of a slightly too specialised engine part that is not available in any stock. I had the choice between a lead time of 2 or 3 months for a new, expensive customised piston or a repair and machining trial, which ended up as special as the entire engine.
For those who want to do a similar repair: The bushing press fit was 0,03 mm (oversize) which should be sufficient to keep it position. As it is not a part under static load I’d never ‘glue’ it in position, like some do.

Fantastic art! I am a layman. Please can you help me with the following question? According to your prior measurements, the piston's bores keeping the wrist pin have become oval (= wear mainly in direction of force) - although this ovality a centricator can be used to adjust the part in the milling machine? Thanks!
The outer shoulders of the bore was still intact (where the shorter pin did not get in contact). That was used to center and it worked well.

Short question: in my opinion the double-exhaust-manifold-design should perfectly match an exhaust window split by a single central bridge? (because the optimal cooling conditions for this bridge)

Also. Can you shave off a part of the internal gear and a part of the groove wall? This should result in it going down better, right? Might be an easy way to improve perfomance of the standard gear
So there are less grooves which results in quicker change, but isnt the downside that the grooves etc get worn out quicker? Because there is less contact area. I am soon getting my own jawa project motor, I'm very excited
Larger grooves don’t wear faster. At least not significantly. A bit maybe due load change movements. There is no easy way to modified standard parts for faster gear changes. One could theoretically make small ovals out of the round holes in gear 1 and 4, but until you have an effect you’d have machined away all the important hard layer…

It‘s a bit of effort but it certainly possible to get more power out of this twin port engine. Very good looking bike!

Moc pěkná práce. Tento problém řeším stále. Mám Velorex 250. A je moc těžký na obyčejnou převodovku. Rád Vás sleduji.
Ahoj. Možná můžu dát tipy. Moderní převodovky typu 634 je nejlepší nepoužívat. Mají méně kolíků (4 místo 6) na menší roztečné kružnici, což je nepříznivé. Pak je užitečné udělat primární překlad co nejdelší. S duplexním převodovým poměrem 579 je alespoň o pár procent delší. Převodovka se tak trochu namáhá. Pro kompenzaci nainstalujte menší sekundární pastorek. Obecně byste měli zkontrolovat, zda jsou všechny kolíky podepřené rovnoměrně. To je zřídka případ. Možná bude možné vybrat převody, které jsou lépe vyrobené. Používám k tomu „tubing pastu“ nebo speciální barvu.

2 questions, first how much do you waight and second what is the compresion ?
Compression ratio and weight is less relevant than low exhaust port timing.
@Q.L.Engineering i ask bc i have the same problem with a 60cc moped and to start it you need to pedal the trasmision and on cold days my cluch slips or i cant turn it over. I was thinking to do the same thing. Btw the double spark plug make a difrence?
Yes, I was surprise to note that the engine delivers a bit more torque with dual ignition on. That might be because of the large bore.

Do the twin pipes work well? I'd have to imagine that you need to make different pipes for the same stroke and displacement engine if it used only one exhaust instead of two, no?
The twin port is not ideal, but belongs to the bike. Exhausts should be smaller in diameter but with similar length compared to single port.
@@Q.L.Engineering Interesting, I'm now reading a book on 2t porting and so on, in it there wasn't any mention of how to fabricate an exhaust for a twin exhaust port bike, thanks for the reply.
