    I wonder how many dinosaur bones/fragments of ancient trees, etc, were found by UK miners, only for them to be dumped onto the nearest conveyor belt?

    • @topgun2263

      We were far to deep for dinosaur bones to be found, now trees yes that's what coal is basically made off. I found lots of perfectly preserved fern leaves after breaking up rocks sadly I never saved any . Like you say we just tossed them on a conveyor belt.

      Don't know why, but there were loads of fern fossils. Found them almost daily.

    The illustrations are great! Dinosaurs at 2:19, bacon at 3:39, cake at 3:51, more bacon at 9:22...shoot, now I want some bacon!

    Unless you have experienced this, you can't imagine the noise, dust, smell and atmosphere on a coal face.

      That's good that the kids learn the history of mining which really made Britain what it was.

      @@thesedreamsarefree thank you. We hope to have many different projects that we can bring to Leicestershire on Coal Mining. We hope to do Mobile Exhibitions around Leicestershire to teach children of all ages about the mining communities and what mining was.

    I worked at Ashington Colliery. When doing my above ground training I saw cupboards full of training films laying about. Those films were not saved.

    When I left university in 1968 with a mining degree, my first 6 months was spent shovelling coal on a 'hand filled' face, ie the old cyclical system shown here. A great video.

    • @thesedreamsarefree
      @thesedreamsarefree 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dr Wolfgang Chausser Yes, but it was good someone who would be in a position of authority in the industry should spend some time doing what the workforce did day in day out. the old time managers worked their way up from there.
