That means a lot to me <3 For Who's Sake is a high bar to compete with because of that strong association with Nishiki, and it's a great theme don't get me wrong, but I feel like it compositionally doesn't really fit an emotional final boss. My favourite arrangement is the version in Ishin. In my opinion, it's a more fight-friendly arrangement than the original but shines brighter by not trying to be a grandiose piece that isn't like in Kiwami's. I mentioned in the description that I didn't start writing this track with Nishiki in mind, although it very quickly fell into place that I was writing this with him in mind, playing up the Christmastime setting and the emotional stakes in a way that I don't think Shoji really could while staying so faithful to the original.

@@AlpineEscape Completely agree with you on Ishin's version, absolutely my favourite arrangement of his theme. Also I must have forgotten to check the description cause I had no clue it wasn't originally for Nishiki. I'm not sure if this was intentional but the section from 0:57 to 1:30 kinda made it feel nostalgic which fits the whole "bros since they were kids" story, dunno if that's just me though. (I dunno a thing about music so I'm not gonna even risk embarrassing myself by mentioning specific instruments and sounds xd)

Haha no worries! I wrote that section more to play up the Christmas theme (particularly the glockenspiel and sleigh bells) but since Christmas is a very introspective time, it does in turn play up the history that gives the fight so much weight :)

Haha, well my postgrad course is actually on composing and sound design for games! I did a bit of sound design a few years ago for my undergrad as well, another GoldenEye clip and one of the trailers for Judgment. I don't know if I'll post those though, I might cringe looking back at those...
