    I am a disabled ambulatory wheelchair user. I think the most cruel part is the fact that Ive fallen for other disabled people (probably because they can relate). When you both love each other but cant be together because no one can get anything done or take care of each other- it's soul crushing. And I hear you about academics and school. I feel the same way. Thats the only thing I have. Applying to masters programs now. I keep thinking maybe a masters degree will make me more desirable. Much love. -Laura

      Dang. Real. I'm non-ambulatory. I've only ever been in love with one woman who was able-bodied in Middle School, but that's it. I have to be honest with you though my dream nowadays is to have a disabled wife and kids that would grow up in the culture and hopefully not have any of the preconceived notions that people have about us because we would raise them and stuff like that-that's my dream. The barriers around healthcare really make it impossible as well, because if they remove the caps for income on stuff like Medicaid some of us might actually be able to afford to hire nurses. I have my master's degree and I can tell you that it didn't make me much more desirable. But I still think you should go for it and I wish you luck. I think it's interesting as one of the first works of political science, and it's really important in terms of introducing the realm of forms and the cave. But I do have to say that it gets kind of eugenic, but I'm not sure if that's meant to be a subtle, ironic critique on Greek culture or just a reflection of it.

  • @andreaaerdna8546
    @andreaaerdna8546 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    you're doing well: you've understood the material conditions of your situation and their connection to your previous beliefs. Loneliness and anger are emotions we often don't know how to handle, so we "lash out" wherever we can. Especially when many people lack the material and emotional resources to address these problems, which require never ending intellectual and emotional work (that is more common in the context of the working class and other forms of oppression), your position is entirely understandable. Technically, disability leads to isolation because we are socialized within heteronormative and ableist regimes. I believe it's much more constructive to direct our anger at the system that has failed us-at the lack of organized collective support, solidarity, and state resources. At the increasingly rigid gender roles, productivity norms, work norms, and Western standards of beauty etc. When we add to the experience of disability the layers of queer experiences, non-white experiences, migrant experiences, the root of these marginalizations all together stems from capitalism and imperialism. ✊

    • @ACrownofFlowers
      @ACrownofFlowers 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah dude, I just worry that ableism Is something much more ingrained into the human animal in the sense that people of whatever political persuasion automatically fear it because it's so different from what we've evolved to be. Now the good news is that humans have never really been bound by nature, but my experience with people of all political groups has been that they've wanted to "fix" me rather than accept me. Regardless, I share your hopes.

    This is the realest shit ive ever heard. I was religious as a kid but in middle school i ended up going for an agnostic approach because i didnt like the hypocrisy of the people in the church. But i used god to get me through a lot of tough shit in life and i even had an intense religious experience. Going back to being religious brought the red flags back in my face though so i ended up deep diving into different theological approaches and that led me to the historical analysis of the new and old testament. Needless to say im incapable of believing in a christian god at this point. Very painful times i went through to get to that point. I actually feel bad talking to religious people about the stuff i learned because i dont want them to go through that.

    You present an important concept, which I generally thought about before and even tried to implement it in my own life Trolls today do their trolling either because it is a reflection of a deep seeded issue they have stemming from a complexity they have, or just for the sake of it, the second reason is a more justifiable reason imo, however what you speak about, is honestly almost dead at this point, I believe the use of jokes to deliver a message has had a long history of existing in intellectual minds over the course of history, but because what we have from those people is just what they said and their writings we tend to view them as being static and serious personas which I don't believe to be the case, but anyways, generally jokes are more straightforward then trolling and makes us judge the person less, but as we see today they have a huge impact on how people think today specially with the rise of memes, so, you can imagine if a troll, which if used the same way you're saying in the video, decided to use their trolling ability to change beliefs, for good or for worse, how influential that would be! It's a double-edged sword, but it is a very powerful tool and I think people who use it generally have good intentions as it is also quite similar to manipulation which lies to the person, so a true troll who does this would be clever because they found that thin line and were able to seperate between the two In fact, I think that influential trolling could probably have more impact on the person than teaching, because it allows them to think for themselves, of course they would have to later decipher the thought that was trolled upon, but to initiate thinking to begin with, is the most important step, along with subliminal messaging along the way I don't know why I started yappin but just had some stuff which I felt like sharing, sorry if I wrote too much, and btw when you said chill guy I instantly though of Ding Liren, the previous chess world champ lol, maybe if you have a chess account we can play sometime, but anyways, kudos to you for brining this concept to light specially nowadays

    Great vid man-Nietzsche himself had at times debilitating health issues. The overman isn’t a bodybuilder or male model. He is a man of perfect self-containment-springboard for pure will.

      I know, I avoided mentioning that because I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate since being disabled is a relatively new concept-at least in the contemporary sense, but you're so right.

    I gave a neighbor a ride, tried to shift, and his knee was in the way, so I accused him of manspreading. The moment he tried to say something, I accused him of mansplaining, and he just sat there, opening and closing his mouth like a fish out of water.

      @@ACrownofFlowers The Milgram experiment was a series of social psychology experiments conducted by Yale psychologist Stanley Milgram to test how far people would go when ordered to obey an authority figure. The experiment involved participants being told to administer electric shocks to a fellow participant, who was actually a confederate of Milgram's, if they answered a word pair incorrectly. The shocks increased in voltage with each wrong answer, and the confederate would eventually scream in agony. The experiment's results were striking: more than 60% of participants continued to shock the confederate, even after they appeared to be unconscious. The experiment's findings challenged the predictions of experts and demonstrated that people are more likely to follow orders from an authority figure than to act on their own conscience.

    I get women to talk about cats all the time, although I don't know if they're childless or not. It usually starts with me talking about my own cat. A lot of what people do in general is spew memes, mind viruses they pick up from others, such as about "childless cat ladies" which is akin to propaganda. I'm having to limit what I write here as I always do on TH-cam because of AI thought police.

      Agree. Me too. And I have noticed that the AI common filtering has been really draconian as of late.

    You're one of the few people I've corresponded with in email (or otherwise communicated with) who actually has some intelligence, and I think it's a combination of head and heart intelligence or lateral thinking. "Lateral thinking is a creative problem-solving technique that involves looking at a situation from different perspectives and coming up with unconventional solutions. It's also known as 'thinking outside the box'."

      Thank you. I really attribute that to my unorthodox liberal arts/classical education. Most recently all of my classes were based on singular portions of texts or one single work which we work through together as a class with the professors through Socratic dialogue. It helped me realize that, it's okay not to have a definite answer to things, or to leave things open-ended. I was also humbled many times, both by my professors, and people much smarter than me, which changed my perspective on a lot of things. I ultimately feel like I came out as a better person because of it, not just "smarter".
