Roxy Music - Chance Meeting
มุมมอง 34K15 ปีที่แล้ว
An early live performance by the definitive art rock band.
The video to this, not this one, is crazy.
Simply brilliant!
This is pure art form music. With the film it only adds to the haunting beauty of the music.
For you Maria ❤️
I first hear this via Ferry's later remake. Which itself is good . But this is from another world.
Why on earth is Eno wearing what looks like a check shirt from Top Shop? Andy is quite right in questioning Eno's get up. Is this really better than the album version? I'm not so sure. It's probably more conventional, that's for sure.
❤
I never thought I'd seen you again Where have you been until now? Well how are you how have you been It's a long time since we last met It seems like yesterday when I first Saw you in your red dress smile How could I forget that day I know that time spent well is so rare
What a terrible version!
Mon premier 45t de roxy music comme j avait 16ans c' était cool
And now TH-cam has been taken over by communists.
Socialism Now~
I saw them all over NYC in the 70s. Was at the BOTTOM LINE when JERRY HALL came out swinging her tail. Saw them with GARY TIBBS on bass. ANDY McKAY is eclectic on this and all his work with ROXY MUSIC. Their album cover was banned in the US - you couldn't get it - but one year my little bro gave it to me for Christmas. Best Christmas gift, EVER. Thanks for the upload and the CREDITS ❣
Seminal.
Absolutely superb video. Perfect movie to go with what must be one of Roxy’s best ever tracks. Eno’s synths when she is on the platform is memorising. Well done, playing over and over
Viva Roxy Music!
love &
💚😍💚😍💙💚
This song is from the year 2360
The way this song turns into both ends burning in VIVA is amazing.
SO agree with you !
Sure looks like Phil manzenera in the picture.no credit for Phil?
I remember this playing in my bedroom this album with my telly on as I light 💡
i bought a technics SL-Q2 yesterday with some albums. I'm playing viva ! now with the telly as a background "light".... :). I was looking for comments on "chance meeting" meanwhile.... a brilliant song !!
Just haunting! Nothing they did since has matched this classic. My all-time favourite Roxy track ever.
Bless you...... this track got me in to Roxy
I was only a nipper at the time and 'Streetlife' was the first Roxy song that caught my imagination. Then I listened to the first albums and singles. Mind. Blown.
Thank you thought this was long forgotten..... its what started me into Roxy
classic intro 'that said Roxy music has arrived missing.
Classic !
A wee classic !
Very good recording quality. The version is definitely different than the original with the guitar being the main focus rather than the punching drums and bass playing on the original. Still, this is a great listen.
Woah that middle section sounds way different...Like the Beatles. I prefer the album version, but this is interesting.

superb live version of one of the PEARLS in music of the great 70's!!! Thank you for sharing this!
"It's a shame to think about yesterday."
Music was absolutely magnificent when both Brian and Bryan worked together. Sad that they only released two albums together, but both are rock classics. Thanks for posting this rare soundtrack.
Clever how they recorded a Bumble Bee having a fit and used it as a sax solo.
Listen to the bass lines. RIP Graham Simpson, founding member of Roxy Music & bass player from 1971 to 1972.
yes really something
Agree, Simpsons bass lines are epic
This is sound I grew up with! I thank God I did!
Dave O'List on electric guitar and backing vocals.
Really marvelous job editing this. Good show!
I really enjoy listening to siouxsie and the banshees version as well.
I really really dig this tune!
I believe it is an oboe, not a sax, but awesome just the same ;-)
Weird- sounds to me like i hear both soprano sax AND oboe.
you forgot early Simple Minds which was very Roxy influenced

Simply haunting, the vid and the music, art at it's best, never mind the tate gallery!
the melody on this is as far reaching as pop has ever got. It's as pingy on the ear as "From Me To You" by the Beatles...crossed with some futuristic soul record no one has yet heard. Marvin Gaye could have done this in another dimension...or someone like him, not sure who...
@lightflower That's Trevor Howard in Brief Encounter. Leslie Howard unfortunately perished two years earlier in 1943 when his camouflaged airliner was shot down by the Nazis. Nice video by the way!
Wonderful
This is good, very good. But... for some years ago trekkertos had a better version of this rare Roxy hit here on youTube... Wonder what happend to that version?
Old Grey Whistle Test, I believe
Do you know where/when it was recorded?
Wicked tweaking on the sax solo unusual .... but I'm a fan looooov v v eeee IT.
what film is that?
I know this is an insanely late reply, but just in case you never found out, it's Brief Encounter (1945), a classic romance - well worth a watch. The song is actually a sequel to the film.
