No sea fishing for ages unfortunately, only chub fishing on local rivers, plus a special day on the river Avon in Dorset, had my PB chub that day, 5lb 11oz, was well chuffed with that! Had a walk with the dog up at Blue Anchor just before Christmas, could barely stand up straight it was so windy!

hi paul , the rag are getting rare mate around here we used to dig at blue anchor in front of the reefs its almost barran there now chap. i like kilve i find its easy to get on and of compared to some of the places i fish but dont put on here you know why ! thanks paul take care mate

@SOMERSETBEACHFISHINGtony HPC and the associated offshore works are certainly a new feature on the local coastline. It's difficult to say if it is the reason for a decline in fishing or just a coincidence. Both HPA and HPB are now decommissioned, which I guess has seen a dramatic reduction in the amount of warmed water coming out of the outflow, could the stopping of this artificially warmer water have cut the ammount of available food? Something has changed for sure, Everyone goes on about the lack of cod, but other species have also declined greatly, with Whiting, pouting and poor cod also seldom caught these days. Thornback rays are, however, about in numbers not seen previously, and species such as blondes, spotted rays and huss are now caught on the 'reefs' far more frequently than at any time in recent angling history. Despite the upturn in a few species 2024 was my worst years fishing in a long time, and others I speak to have seen a reduction in catches. Yes there have been the odd good fish caught, but in the main it has been poor. I've had more blanks than ever and one guy I spoke to went 7 trips on the bounce without a bite. He's normally a fish magnet, so not a good sign....

@@AndrewEvans-wr6xt hi andrew , im not sure what is going on at hp at present but i will find out i have a few very nice people on the inside , as for the cod they have been declining for the last 20 years so im not suprised by that at all , what is bothering me is the lack of whiting and pout as you say the last 2 years they have vanished , i fished kilve yesterday and white mark today at minehead i had one bite a strap eel no other bites in 5 hours work that out ! i know its december and we shouldnt expect to much but its seems the more lets say delicate fish are not coming up the channel they are the most important thing in the food chain here . i popped into blue anchor on my way back home 1 hour before high most of the anglers there not even had a bite one chap was telling me he has fished it for 3 days without a bite . mate i dont know whats going on but i hope the fish turn up soon then we will have something to catch . thanks andrew for your valued feed back and i hope you catch on your next session all the best mate take care .

hiya mate , did you ever fish to the left is it any better that way sort of the other end of the reefs , ive only fished it to the right of the gas pipe as there was always fish around there . back in the 70's and 80's when i first started sea fishing there were so many fish around no matter where you fished its such a shame how things have declined so much , im sure you will remeber the big pout and massive whiting we used to catch around our coast it was great fun . take care mate and thank you

No it's a rotten bottom job to the left always lost lots of gear . Caught a few on high water from the cliff on the right side .been a while though 😊

Fished there once, really enjoyed . But we parked at lilstock i fancied fishing the reef over low and beach up to high next time and have a good days fishing, is there an easier way? It's a fair old walk for us oldies. Thanks and keep up the videos

@@MrJoffG hiya mate many thanks , the range on these mics is bad realy they dip out around 50 ft away but they are better audio for sure , just for you i will include some casting , or i will say how far out the trouble is at different stages of the tide they can be anywhere at your feet or 200 yards out , thsnks for your feed back it helps me out to get it right
