@@adventureswithmarkandsonoko you're welcome 😊
endless traffic, high prices nearly but certainly everyone is from california , strip center 7-11 on every corner its either a dump or its 3 mill for houses. parker used to be great! grew up there moved to parker in 1958. dont waste youre time iits a joke!
When's the last time you were here? We have lived here for six years and love it. Thanks for watching our video!
Apologies for the rant...Agree in general though TX is more appropriate than CA IMHO. Moved here in 2004 from the Platte Park area so that the kiddos would have good schools. Kids tested beyond what the public elementary schools could teach and I'm disappointed to have stayed as the kids attended charter schools which we could have found elsewhere. Parker had potential though, because of a lack of vision and feckless leadership, is now a glorified truck stop. How many fast food restaurants and gas stations does one town need? Every new groundbreadking is one or the other of those with a bank thrown in for diversification. There is little diversity of businesses and restaurants to keep the residents here during the day. As far as restaurants go, the only ones I now frequent are la Baguette du Normandy (LOVE!), India's Kitchen, Fika, and Black Haus. The Garage has gone down hill and everything else is meh at best. You need to go to Lone Tree or further afield for any decent food. Traffic is a pain and will only get worse as more uninspired homes and multifamily gets built w/o the increase in infrastructure. At least Castlewood Canyon is nearby, Natural Grocers is a god send, and there is now a Trader Joes for what that's worth. The trail system is also a plus. At this point, I spend more of my time not in Parker and leave entirely when Parker Days rolls around.
Serenity now!
Thank you.
This was great - thank you both for bringing back my memories of our visit Sengakuji!!
Thanks for watching our video, and we're glad you liked it!
Nice peaceful. Video 0:47
Yes, it was very peaceful. Also, not at all touristy, which was a nice change of pace.
Someone get that guy a new cap!
That cap is awesome!
Hi Mark and Sonoko, really great Video! It's a big dream of mine to see sumo live, so it's really nice to have these videos to have somewhat similar experience. I really like that you show different things to really see what it's like. I plan to travel to Japan next year for the first time, so my question would be, how far in advance do you get the tickets and where. And do you go to different days or just one?
Thanks for watching our video! We have a few videos on watching sumo, so you should check those out, too. We try to get tickets the first day they go on sale. If you go to this website, it explains how to get tickets: www.sumo.or.jp/EnTicket/ It is really hit and miss. Remember the time, difference when you try to buy the tickets, as they sell out quickly. Sometimes you can purchase tickets on the day of a match if you get up early and stand in line at the stadium. If you can’t get tickets for a certain day, you can always try to change days. The last day is the hardest ticket to get. They usually go on sale about two months before the basho. The website I posted also has a lot of other information about sumo, such as the banzuke and who will be fighting who for each day. Again, thanks for watching, and we hope you subscribed!
@@adventureswithmarkandsonoko I definetly did, thanks a lot for all the information. I really appreciate it.
Very interesting video. Nice camera work and great view of all the action. Must have been nice to watch the sumo without masks this time. What I got from watching the video was that sumo is tradition and ceremony first and foremost, sumo as a sport is secondary as a comparison. You can definitely see the pride the Japanese have for sumo with all the traditions passing down through the generations. They really want to protect all the tradition from the modern world and that is what makes sumo so unique. As a paying customer, it seems like you are spending half your time witnessing history and half your time watching sport. I wonder if I could ask you, as a spectator of a number of sumo tournaments, do you return to the sumo to watch and support the history of Japan in real life and keep sumo unique or do you rather want to watch more of the sport of sumo as you have seen the history of sumo and find it time consuming. What brings you back, the spectacle or the sport? Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! We both love the sport of sumo and the history of it, too. We travel to Japan at least once a year, and we try to get in a sumo match while we're there. Tickets are really hard to come by, so we count ourselves fortunate that we were able to get them, but we went to the Kokugikan several times just to take in the atmosphere. I (Mark) have been following sumo since 1992. Sonoko has been following it since 2018. We have watched every tournament on TV since 2018. We plan on making more videos on the various ceremonies that take place during the tournaments in the very near future. We hope you watch them. Yes, it was nice to not have to wear masks. When we attended in January 2023, masks were still mandatory in Japan. These days, a few people wear them, but mostly because they have colds. 30 years ago, I saw people wearing masks and wondered why. It's part of the Japanese culture to wear them when you are sick.
Great camera work. Great view of the action. Very jealous. My favourite hit of that lot is 2:03. Meisei is a real scraper. Very disappointed that 3:03 was selected. Not happy with that at all. Not a big hit at all. 😀
Thanks for watching! At 3:03, he did hit the dohyo pretty hard, but I know what you mean. I don't like henkas, either. If you liked this video, keep an eye out for our next one, which covers the whole day.
😊
Thanks for watching our video and commenting! We appreciate it!
I like the zoo
yeah big change! I don’t like it. I like the old times from 1972 or 1973. I lived across from Casa Bonita while they built it. I can see the top tower. I don’t like they charge salsa/chips and sopapillas. Not like before it was free. I don’t like the current ape cuz the nose looks like pig nose 🐽 sorry to say this. I missed old times. But inside looks better. You know the show in other room for family and friends to watch. I’m Deaf. Will they provide in person an interpreter?? I’m wondering 🤔??
The gorilla in the video is actually ManBearPig. Food is much better now than before. Also, they got rid of the terrible smell. Some things change, but many changes are for the better.
@@adventureswithmarkandsonoko they got rid of what? You didn’t finish your sentence at the end. What about the costs of salsa and chips and sopapillas? Before it was free and now charge. Why?
@@tiggerlady2352 I suppose you'd have to ask them. When we went, we got more sopapillas when we asked for them. Mmmm, good stuff!

Looks like a great place to visit!
Well-worth the visit. Twice a year, they open up the palace to visitors, too.
Onosato really fought hard all the way up to the last day. Besides winning the whole shibang, he took home two special awards as well.
This video is all from one day in May. Great action.
I'm Korean. How about Casabonita after the re-opening I really want to go casabonita
Right now, you have to go to their website and sign up. They will notify you when you can make a reservation - it took us about a year to get one.

Sumo for ever
Thanks for watching! We'll have more sumo videos up this summer.
too bad I missed it
Don't worry, it'll be back next year! Thanks for watching!
But I moved to Washington not too long ago.
That was very interesting. Thank you for the video. Those smaller inclines were great preparation for the big one. It would have definitely taken you 2 hours to climb if you didn't prepare. 90 minutes is really good....and you did not trip once! Well done.
Thanks for watching and commenting on our video. We plan to hike it again this year.
Even after multiple visits, sometimes it still takes me 2 hours. My best is 1.5 hours and I don't care if I ever take less time than that.
It is cold
I love hot air balloon
We do, too! Thanks for watching our video!
We've been to Dubois Wyoming in 2017. Never knew the museum was there. My loss!
It wasn't open then. I think the grand opening was in 2022. Next time you go, it's definitely worth checking out. Thanks for watching the video!
No one talking about how you very casually got some great footage of Hakuho 😂
So far, no. Thanks for watching.
_Cool and interesting walking tour video with incredibly knowledgeable and engaging narration: the scenery is absolutely stunning and the ambience is so peaceful. Thank you for sharing your insight and expertise with the world._

Who organizes this farmers market and what is their contact info. I'd love to be a part if this community
The town of Parker organizes it. It runs from Mother's Day until the last weekend of September, every Sunday.
Thanks for watching!
Nice tour!
So it will be snowing possibly in March.....
More than likely. The Needles Highway was closed to cars, but we were able to hike it, which was awesome! FYI, a lot of motels and restaurants are closed seasonally during March, so if you go then, we'd recommend checking online to see what will be open. We usually go in summer (like we did this year), but the crowds are way smaller in March! Thanks for watching!
Amazing sharing dear .New friend here .Please stay connected 😍👍🙏
Glad you enjoyed it! It's a great museum!
Wow! Thanks for the info. My neighbors AND their dog went there in July, 2021. They posted photos of that tent/cabin and the surrounding area on FaceBk. Now I wish I would have gone.
Glad you enjoyed the video. We really liked the tent cabins. The prices were right, and it was a bit easier than setting up our own tent.
This May 18,I has been there first time.
It's our favorite National Park in Arizona! Thanks for watching our video!
Wow, Ka rawe (Fantastic) Top of my bucket list things to do. Thank you.
Thank for watching, Billy. We can't wait to go again!
I didn't get a sense of how long it was between matches. Since most bouts are over in seconds, how many bouts are there per hour? I am a typical American with a short attention span. Thanks.
The two highest divisions usually last from 2 to 6 p.m. The pre-match rituals last about 4 minutes. If you watch the Sumo Digest on TV, showing just the fights, it takes about 30 minutes for the highest division. In reality, that takes about 2 hours. There is a great description here: factsanddetails.com/japan/cat21/sub138/item757.html Thanks for watching!
