    Thank you for sharing as always great to hear what has been working for you. There are so many different diets and ways of eating available out there, and you can lose weight on most of them, however it's important to always prioritise the impact it has on your health first as weight loss is an added benefit to a healthy body. Sustainably is key though and being able to maintain that way of eating. Listen to your body first and when in doubt always ensure you aren't cutting out any food groups as the body utilises each group to support the body as a whole.

      You're right, we do tend to associate fruit with warmer weather and sunny climes and it can be challenging to remember to eat it ALL YEAR ROUND for juicy cellular hydraton (especially when the selection of available fresh fruit is smaller). That's where frozen fruit comes in - for me it ensures I always have fruit at the ready, and I would simply die without my frozen blueberries when they're not in season! 🫶🏼

    Hi, I agree we should be eating more fruit. Thank you for this content. About the meat, I believe the studies were probably done with conventional meat which here in the US has chemicals. Also the way conventional meat is raised and what they feed them is horrible. I'd be interested to know how a study would go if they were to use meat from pasture raised animals instead. 🤔

    • @bodybrainreset
      @bodybrainreset 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for being here 🧡 And THANK YOU for your hypothesis - it's a smart one. The research indicates that while pasture-raised meat may be less inflammatory than grain-fed due to its higher anti-inflammatory nutrient content, it can still promote inflammation if overconsumption occurs, especially of fatty cuts. Moderation, and BALACE with anti-inflammatory plant foods is recommended. This study compared the fatty acid profiles of pasture-fed, organic, and conventional beef. While pasture-fed beef provided more anti-inflammatory omega-3s, it still contained pro-inflammatory saturated fats and omega-6s that can contribute to inflammation when consumed in high amounts (Journal List , Foods, PMC8909876) I suppose it comes down to whether you want to eat 'healthier meat' or heathy food - as well as your health, wellbeing, life, and food values.

    I've heard the opposite a low carb diet improves insulin sensitivity not a low fat diet. too much fat in blood is caused by too much carbs.

    • @bodybrainreset
      @bodybrainreset 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It can be so confusing with all the different commercial motivations out there, as well as with the old thinking/ research circulating, but… … A low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet rich in healthy carbohydrates from whole plant foods has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce insulin resistance in several studies: (Emphasis on carbs that come from whole plant foods i.e. fruits & veggies) Buckle up, here’s the scoop! The study by Shintani et al. found that a low-fat, plant-based, high-carbohydrate diet was associated with reduced body weight, fat mass, and insulin resistance in overweight individuals over 16 weeks. Higher carbohydrate and fiber intake correlated with greater reductions in weight and insulin resistance. (Nutrients. 2018 Sep; 10(9): 1302. Published online 2018 Sep 14. doi: 10.3390/nu10091302) The randomized controlled trial by Goff et al. compared a low-fat (20% fat) vs low-carb (60% fat) diet in overweight/obese subjects. Both diets led to weight loss and improved insulin sensitivity, with no significant difference between diets, suggesting the benefits were primarily from weight loss rather than macronutrient composition. (Journal List Diabetes v.58(12); 2009 Dec PMC2780863) Mastering Diabetes cites over 85 years of evidence showing low-fat, plant-based, whole-food diets high in carbs from fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains can reverse insulin resistance, while low-carb diets promote it. (www.masteringdiabetes.org/high-carb-foods-reverse-insulin-resistance/) The NHS resource recommends reducing carbs moderately for those with insulin resistance, but emphasizes choosing low-glycemic, high-fiber carb sources and avoiding very low-carb or carb-free diets which can worsen insulin resistance. (www.cuh.nhs.uk/patient-information/national-severe-insulin-resistance-service-carbohydrates/) Multiple studies and expert resources support a low-fat, high-carbohydrate dietary pattern focused on minimally processed plant foods as an effective approach to reduce insulin resistance, likely due to the fiber, antioxidants and low energy density of these carb sources promoting weight loss.

    26:00 The wave of people going back to meat I think is a few things. For one they aren't getting enough calories because they aren't paying enough attention to their diet and the other is social. It's really hard for people to stay on a diet when they are limited to things they can eat when going out with friends. People also don't remember you don't eat meat so they forget to put things out for you at gatherings. There are tons of people who make money on youtube by telling people that meat is amazing and so beneficial so people just give in.

    • @bodybrainreset
      @bodybrainreset 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This resonates 100%. There's so much social pressure to conform to the standard diet in whatever country you're in - because it's readily available and what 'most' people eat. When I quit cow dairy in 2001 I couldn't believe how much of my social life revolved around cheese! (Ridiculous.) Then in 2007 I quit yeast, gluten & wheat - but all these omissions opened up a world of possibilities because me (& my Mum!) were determined that life should be DELICIOUS, and so our options EXPANDED as we researched like mad scientists. Sadly my social options didn't; I bailed from a layer of socialising, and my friends called me 'picky' and 'fussy' for years - until I realised that Asian restaurants were the answer to dinner with friends - Malaysian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Indian, Sri Lankan, Ethiopian restaurants are packed full of plant-based options - and everyone loves those too! A friend has recently switched to healthy mode and said: "I really thought you were weird back then. Now I realise how progressive you were." 🧡 Thanks so much for being here, let me know if there are any women's health topics you'd like to know more about.

    What about the high carb content of most fruits that turn to sugars in your body and then turn to fat?

      Oh please, nobody got fat eating apples.... Fruits have fibres, sugar impact is decreased.... Have your fruits

    • @bodybrainreset
      @bodybrainreset 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We had a similar comment over on Shorts. There's a lot of misinformation still circulating about fruits that don't match the latest science. Here's Star's reply, I hope this help alleviate confusion or fear around fruit: Fruit doesn’t turn into sugar, fruit contains sugar. Lots of foods contain sugar: many vegetables, milk, grains, beans, fruits… The scientific term for sugar is saccharine and there are many different saccharides: fiber and starch are also saccharides and no all of these are not the same molecule. Fructose is not the same molecule as glycogen, sucrose is different to beta glucan (and so on) The body breaks all saccarides down into glucose but it matters a lot where it originates: consuming 50g of pure glucose syrup has a different effect on the blood sugar mechanics than eating 50g of banana - this should be quite obvious to anyone even without much knowledge of science. All fruits are pretty high in fibre and yes fibre is one of the food components that helps slow down the breakdown of sugars. Fibre is also a type of sugar too (polysaccharide). This is why it’s not very logical to just use the word ‘sugar’ to refer to extracted sugars and the carbohydrates in plant foods. There are multiple studies proving fruit juice doesn’t cause diabetes etc. you didn’t really specify what you think the issue is with juice so I can’t give you specifics but you’re welcome to ask me for the links to the studies I’m not sure if the blender point is related to the fruit juice point but you do know that juice isn’t made in a blender right? Blended just blend things the fibre remains in tact, it’s no different to how we mechanically break down fruits using our teeth. The smoothie = ruined fibre argument is just not scientifically backed, it was silly nonsense spread by a large well known diet company (and we all know how honest they are!) As for blood sugar: there is an unfortunate trend lately of pathologising natural biological phenomena - especially among creators who have something to sell you! Blood sugar is supposed to rise and fall, it’s a dynamic process anytime you eat anything with carbohydrates the blood sugar will rise - THIS IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN - sadly creators with something to sell you have started calling this natural rise a ‘spike’ - this is misinformation. You usually don’t see true spikes in normal people, only those with insulin resistance. A normal rise then fall of blood sugar - and I cannot stress this enough - is perfectly normal. I’d like to finish by reminding you that every single cell of your body requires glucose to function and the fuel-heavy big human brain needs about 120g-130g of glucose a day: you can choose to get that from junk foods or extracted sugars or from healthy sources like fruit where you’ll also get a fat dose of water, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, fats, phytochemicals, antioxidants, enzymes, fibre and more.

      There's so much information in the food, health, fitness and nutrition world - we're just slowly, & gently, re-educating to empower people. Beliefs become entrenched, we have to shift them with LOVE 💌 I realise a lot of the misunderstanding around health & how the body works comes from the use of language. Language has to be so precise. i.e. Fruit doesn't turn into sugar, rather it 'contains' sugar, like other foods. Science reinvents itself daily, and keeping up the research, nomenclature , & conventional wisdom surrounding the data is a full-time job. That's why we rely on experts like @theagehacker who live and breathe the latest evidence-based information as it's produced, and share it with us in an accurate, accessible way.

      If you do mean making smoothies in a blender, Star & I are huge smoothie fans! (You can grab her incredible blackberry/ acai smoothie recipe here: www.thefaceliftdiet.com/blackberry-acai-anti-ageing-smoothie/) In this episode above Star listed leafy greens as part of your daily 'green fruits' quota, including spinach. I love adding a small handful of kale, baby spinach or rocket (arugula) to my smoothies to 'get my greens in'. You may not know that many veggies are actually officially classified as fruit: cucumber, tomato, bell peppers (capsicum), squash, courgette (zucchini) - I find cucumber works well in a smoothie with avocado, apple & a medjool date ...!! Sooooo good. Other veggies don't work so well in a smoothie, but you know what? It's all down to personal preference!

    Fruits turn into sugar, lady. The body doesn’t know where the glucose comes from. It’s the same molecule. Some fruits high in fiber are better for you since the fiber slows down the glucose spike in your body. It’s always better to have them after eating. Forget fruit juice, by the way. Once you put it in a blender, you ruin the fiber.

All fruits are pretty in fibre and yes fibre is one of the food components that helps slow down the breakdown of sugars.

      @@theagehacker How much fruit would you have to consume to get 130g glucose? I asked ChatGPT! It provided an answer based on assumed 'medium' size fruit: 🍌 5g glucose per medium banana 🍏 4g glucose per medium apple 🍊 3g glucose per medium orange 🍇 8g glucose per 100g of grapes Based on that - wait for it 🤯 - you'd have to eat the following amount of fruit to get 130g glucose a day from fruit: 🍌 26 bananas 🍏 32.5 apples 🍊 43.3 oranges 🍇 1.625 kilograms of grapes I would defer to Star's expertise over ChatGPT's calculations, but even this initial calculation confirms you're never going to tip the glucose scale into the negative with fruit. 🍒🍓🍇🍎🍉🍑🍊

      Looking at Star's answer, I realise a lot of the misunderstanding around health & how the body works comes from the use of language. Language has to be so precise. i.e. Fruit doesn't turn into sugar, rather it CONTAINS sugar, like other foods. Science reinvents itself daily, and keeping up the research, nomenclature , & conventional wisdom surrounding the data is a full-time job. That's why we rely on experts like @theagehacker who live and breathe the latest evidence-based information as it's produced, and share it with us in an accurate, accessible way.

      I found this episode reassuring, too, because lately I've been craving VAST quantities of fruit & there's a little voice in my head asking: "Am I eating too much?" Fruit is often vilified, which I now realise is not substantiated in a varied, balanced diet. We should all be 'frumans'!! 🍒🍓🍇🍎🍉🍑🍊
