Why does ATC sometimes position departing aircraft on the other side of the runway? Like A321 in the beginning. It's like crossing over the street only to get back on it again. Each of those taxi areas can hold close to 30 aircraft if not more.

They have been around for a quite some time but it still a very safe plane ✈️ and great plane to watch.
