One World Trade Center, also known as the "Freedom Tower," stands on the site of the original World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. Designed by David Childs, it honors the lives lost on September 11, 2001, with a structure symbolizing resilience and strength. Completed in 2013, it is the tallest building in the U.S., at 1,776 feet, reflecting the year of American independence. The tower includes extensive security features and business spaces, with the One World Observatory on the 100th floor offering panoramic views of New York.
Ground Zero, the site of the collapsed Twin Towers, has become synonymous with the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum, located at the site of the collapsed World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, honors the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the 1993 bombings. Opened in 2011 and 2014, respectively, the memorial and the Museum feature two reflecting pools with the names of 2,977 victims inscribed along their edges, set in a plaza surrounded by over 400 oak trees. The museum, located below the memorial, presents the events of 9/11 through exhibits, artifacts, and personal stories, serving as a space for reflection and understanding the global impact of the attacks.
