I’ve never heard of the incentive for bringing in snake bodies 😂 My family would’ve definitely been cashing in since I wash young. You’re bound to run into more snakes in areas closer to the Jungle. So I guess it kinda depends. I personally seen snakes my entire life on Guam. One night 10 throughout the night. But we were at our family ranch which is essentially the middle of the jungle 🤷🏻‍♀️ A snake also ATE THROUGH MY AIRCON and CUDDLED ME in bed 🤢🤮😭 I woke up that night because I was having a bad dream I was being strangled by a giant centipede.

What I’ve learned about climate like these is that you have to shower about 2 to 3 times a day with soap and that will repel so many bugs❤

BUT now seeing your video, I am feelin all kinds of weird about it. We moved to Virginia from Los Angeles a year and a half ago! So of course I miss that California sun. 1. I'm terrified of dogs (do the stray dogs come up to you) I'm assuming you can't leave your house without seeing dogs 2. we literally did not have water last week for 2 days because of snow & that was awful! You went over a month without water 😟 wow. I would have been a b**** too. Like WHAT!?!?!! How often do the typhoons happen??? 3. the bugs. Girl ever since we left LA --Virginia has crazy bugs too. In the middle of summer I literally walk outside in winter clothes because the bugs are so crazy here, I was excited about the beaches in Guam but you mentioned ants. Someone else's video said that the ants are on the beach too. So you can't lay on the beach without being attacked by ants? \ 4. the trash. 😳 my husband and I go for walks several times a week. I feel that this would drive me crazy--seeing all the unkept trash?!! so sad. it sounds like my fantasy of Guam is very different from the reality. Do you actually like it there?

I’m visiting again Guam this March 2025 to do my unfinished project WW2 tour 81st Iwo Jima anniversary, I was there last March 2024, due to volcanic activities our WW2 tour was cancelled 😡, anyway looking forward to go back again

It is so interesting to see the differance from when I was stationed at the NavComSta Finaguyian in 67-89. My wife came over to teach and our son was born there. If we wanted to go to the falls we ad to sign out with the Navy so they would know where to start looking as there was still two lone lost Japaness soilders living in the boonies. Next we could check out a Jeep truck if we had a party of five more/ Acople of ice chests for San Migil and Matuse. A day mashites and bug juice was rewarded with cool water play. Oh to be young and foolish on Uncal Sam. Enjoy every minutea s it will make your golden year sparkel.

I remember living in maina back in the 90's..i used to ride my bike past that bridge to go to my friends house in agana heights...that place is engulfed in bamboo..i would get an eerie vibe as i rode across the bridge..that road e call snake road cause it snakes

About 5 minutes you touch upon The Jones Act and it contributes to things costing more. What is the point of that Act? was it something that made sense when it was passed but is now outdated?

Great video. First time on Guam was 1970 and then came back for a few months in 1973, all courtesy of the military. Different place then but some things are still the same.

Bugs and geko's. AS far as dangerous animals, when I was there in 1976-1979 [I lived thru Cat 5 typhoon Pamela] out in the boonies one can find komodo dragons. I met one and realized I was in his kitchen, so I backed away and never went back.

Can veterans use military px on base?

Don't know about the speeding part. I got pulled on within 12 hours upon arriving back to guam on a visit.

The dog situation is improving slowly, but there's still a lot of neglect. It breaks my heart. Local humane and rescue organizations do their best with limited funds. Pretty accurate assessment of Guam, except the price of housing. Its really beyond most people's means unless both partners work full time ( even then some people still need assistance) OR multiple generations live together.

Landmarks is used bc typhoons takes of signs & takes awhile for GovGuam Public Works to prepare a budget. Cost of living is high bc most goods is imported. Central air is expensive so resort to individual AC units is best. Yes, power & cable is separate. Medical is an issues on Guam which is why many gets help from Public Health if they.can’t afford more medical help. Chamorro food is great & add other culture food to it is a feast. Yes, humidity is high & takes about 6mos to adjust, our hottest mos is summer into the ber’s months. The coolest mos is from Nov to March when trade winds flows on island. We only have wet & dry weather that at times storms up Tropical depression or typhoons. Fruits & others products shipped here are very expensive off island from US & Asia. Veggies are cheaper at flee markets & farmers markets or Mom & Pops store villages.
