Csn you do this without a webbing stretcher if you get another pair of hands to pull while the other tacks

Hi thank you for the video! Was very informative! I’ve been trying to find info on placing coil springs… for example how far apart should they be, and how far from the edge? Also when tieing down, how much of a slant should the springs be at the edge? What are the general rules? I tried to find your email to send pictures of the chair I will be doing

Thanks for the tutorials, they're brilliant. By following them I've got my webbing on and springs tied onto the webbing. There were only three springs in the chair originally, in a triangular formation - two towards the front, one in the centre back. Should the back one be lashed on its own, north to south and east to west on the chair but not attached to the other two or what can you advise? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for a great video, could I have a spot of advice please? My 94 year old Mother, has a sofa from about 1900. The top velvet surface is all OK, but the webbing across the bottom has weakened and is hanging down in places. I've bought replacement webbing, a webbing stretcher and tacks and am happy to replace the webbing but this will have to be done from the bottom, I'm not keen to remove the top covering. Have you any idea how I can fix the springs to the webbing from the bottom?! Many thanks - Chris

Yes I am enjoying these demos especially as they are not delivered in an American accent. I too would like explanations as to why you choose a particular method please. Whilst you understand as a viewer I need to know the reasoning , even it’s because you were taught that way, I would very much like you to follow the springing with the hessian etc. So there is a step by step set of vids that demonstrate all the techniques required, cheers Andrew A

It would be useful to know why you choose that particular direction of spring top ? Yes I understand they should all point the same way but does it matter which way ?

Very good tutorial. Thanks. Does the whole weight of a person sitting on the finished chair rest on this webbing? I have an antique chair I'm webbing but the wood around the edges where you hammer the nails to secure the webbing isn't that great. It has so many previous nail holes and the wood is cracking a bit as well. I have done the webbing but I'm worried once its all finished that the webbing won't hold the weight of a person from where its attached to the crappy wood. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. :-) Thanks again for the awesome well presented Vid.
