X-Star vs Phantom 3 Pro vs Q500 4k vs Byrd Standard
มุมมอง 15K8 ปีที่แล้ว
The mother of all video comparisons! I shot roughly the same footage for each of the four drones available for sale now. The Autel Robotics X-Star versus the DJI Phantom versus the Yuneec Q500 4k versus the ProDrone Byrd Standard. All footage shot in 1080p at 30fps and using roughly the same settings on each drone. I used VC-1 compression at 20000.

Autel Robotics X Star First Impressions
Good Evening Kevin, i just bought the yuneec q500+ and i bought a new battery Gifi and i did everything that it said to do, i pluged it up to charge and it starts out blinking green and then i get a slid red. can you please tell me what i need to do to get my battery charged? Thanks
Are you using the stock charger that came with it?
@@SkylabFlightSystems yes
@@johnnydavis4841 Read this and follow the instructions. There are several things it could be. Start with the first suggestion and work through them. yuneec-forum.com/threads/red-solid-error-light.9601/
@@SkylabFlightSystems Thanks Kevin
A video showing a guy talking a lot and not really showing the Hoodman Aviator sunshade ...
Great video. Thanks
Good thing they didn't show the shithole known as Hagerstown.
Good review on the battery
Thanks. Info is a bit old. I still fly but TH-cam is flooded with guys doing videos and I'm always traveling so don't get much time to put these things together anymore. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Venom are absolute JUNK....They bloat fast and Venom customer service is CRAP
Question what app do you use for the xstar? I need to know because i have one and the app that the book tells me to use does not work for me
Jelte Beukema It is called Autel Robotics Starlink. That’s the only one that I am aware of.
Jelte Beukema Here is the video of me going through the App: th-cam.com/video/YU8N7rsJH4M/w-d-xo.html

Having a hard time getting any batteries shipped to Hawaii.
Have you tried CarolinaDronz?
@@SkylabFlightSystems I was looking on eBay. Then I found one on Amazon that will ship. I tried calling CarolinaDronz and they had a recording saying, sorry we are with other customers and cannot answer the phone, so I hung up!
@@pepperonihead Yeah, they are pretty busy. I personally would go with them over someone at Amazon only because they only sell drone gear. You can always email them. They will ship it to Hawaii and they ship very quickly provided they have it in stock.
@@SkylabFlightSystems Thanks, man. I have ordered stuff from them before when I lived on the mainland. It is a little difficult to get these types of batteries shipped to Hawaii because they have to go by air and there is danger involved. Plus if you can find someone that will ship them, shipping costs are kind of high. But of course, Amazon will ship them for free because I have Prime so it is a bit cheaper.
John Pirrone Understood. One of the many reasons I don’t think I’d like living on an island. There are many great things about it, of course. Hopefully you get good batteries from the Amazon seller. Let me know if I can help with anything else. Always happy to help.

THE. X STAR IS A HELL OF A LOT BETTER I HAVE ALL DJI JUNK BULLSHIT OVERPRICED CHEAP CHEAP MADE DJI PRODUCTS VERY VERY CHEAP MADE HEY I JUST TELL IT LIKE IT IS TOO BAD IF YOUR UNHAPPY ☹️ I REALLY DO NOT GIVE A S**T 👍
Your xstar is no match for my phantom 4 pro
Amazing and thorough review thank you!
Hi Nice video i hace a black byrd premium and i Dont know how to download My videos to my cel or tablet, can you Help me?
noel morales I don't have my Byrd any more. But I was just looking into your question and I could not find an option that allows you to wirelessly transfer images/videos from the Byrd to your mobile device. I would send an email to them. They are super responsive to customer questions. They have people working in the US so you won't have to wait a day for a response. Sorry I didn't have a better answer.
Byrd win this time
Hey I just got the x star premium do you have to have your phone connected to the controller via USB cable to use Star link app ??
I have my Samsung Tab - A hard wired (plugged in) to the controller. That's how it works.
Hi, what will happen if I should fly out of range ?? I am scared to fly this thing out of sight ! I keep thinking it's just going to fly away & not come back 🤔
Mike Remvidas Hey Mike. Thanks for watching my video. The X-Star has a built in failsafe that will return the aircraft to its take off point should it lose radio signal. That takeoff point is called Home Point. Always make sure it is accurate before you take off and you should have no worries getting back should you lose signal. One thing to note about the "return to home" feature is at what altitude the aircraft will fly at while returning. In your settings menu, you can set that height to whatever you like. I always check mine before take off and compare it to my surroundings making sure that it will clear the tallest obstacle near the area you are flying. Thanks for the question. Fly safe!
I would have to agree that the stock battery from Yuneec is garbage. I was only getting about 10 minutes on a full charged battery. Mind you I only had 2 flights since I bought it and I too just hovered. It fell out of the stock when the warning came on didn't have a chance to bring it down. Try to get in touch with Yuneec and you will be very disappointed. The hold time is over 1 1/2 hour. Never get a human, and it will take 1-2 weeks to receive an email response. Thanks for the review certainly will look in to the venom battery.
Great video, I personally use freewell filters for photography
nice info does rc has hdmi output
Thanks for the helpful video. Its tricky learning all the features and techniques

If anyone cares...I have 10-15 videos using the x star. The quality is outstanding and smooth, I love it.
Thanks for a very detailed and informative video. One suggestion: script your self next time, doing it on the fly you sound like a constipated man in the bathroom grunting and groaning. Not trying to be mean, but constructive.
Thanks, I just got one because of your review, it is awesome Now I can see!!
I loved your video. What video editing software did you use ? Thanks.
I liked the Yuneec, ProDrone, and lastly the Phantom 3... Which is odd because on some of your other videos, the Phantom 3 has the best detailed video I have ever seen...
Lip stick Thanks for watching. Since shooting this series of videos, I've been flying the P4P and the Inspire 1. I'm prepping some videos showing them together with the X-Star. I no longer have a a Pro-Drone or a Yuneec because I wasn't a fan of their cameras compared to everything else available today. We are so lucky to have access to some of the best tech available right now and it's only getting better as the year goes by! It's never been a better time to be in this hobby/industry!
my question is a simple one. If you could only buy one of these drones which one would you buy. I've basically limited myself to these 2 but I'm having trouble deciding which is best for me. I have zero experience with drones!
AmeriJam Acres If I could only have one, then I'd choose the X-Star because it would allow me to upgrade cameras without having to buy a new drone. Every day there are more and more 3rd party apps coming out that support the X-Star. I think they have a bright future if they can keep pace with DJI'S mid and low end drones. The X-Star camera is already better than the P3 camera. Plus, DJI will soon stop supporting the P3 line. That's strictly my opinion though. Thanks for watching and for your question!
AmeriJam Acres get the x star premium
X star premium!!!!!! I have one and it was great
Finally, two people do a Gifi 6400mah battery review... The GiFi, is sold out??? The 7500mah battery adds more weight??? Please, test the 7500mah battery, weight vs performance compared to the 6400 and the 5400mah batteries...

Max altitude limit 2624? Wao, that's awsoooome.
This was one of the videos that helped me decide on the X-star! Thanks so much for posting the comparison. I've been flying for only about 15 hours total. Keeping track of my hours on the Kittyhawk app cuz I figure it pays to be meticulous. And thank you again for your advice on the lens filters earlier. I bought some PolarPro Vivids and love the results I'm getting!
Abandon Gravity Thanks for watching! Stoked to hear the video helped you. That was the entire reason I made and posted it. Keep flying and be safe!

I have a mavic with an Ipad mini 4. Will this work?
Ronn Varnell It will if you are using an aftermarket iPad holder. But, using the stock mounting of the ipad, probably not.
unfortunately battery's can be as individuals are some will be mighty and seem to always go on and on forever ,i have a few like this and they are magical .but then others seem to just be ok they don't pack a punch they dont last long and they wont hold a charge you can buy 3 battery's all at the same time and the same make use them the same amount BUT however you can not control certain aspects ie the temperature they were charged at or used at or stored at and how long they were stored at and how fully charged they were when they were stored at for any amount of days weeks months as battery's don't like to be stored at 100% full for longer than a couple of weeks with out being used and all of these factors and variables matter and damage the battery's capacity and longevity and power output its a juggling act and temperature is a major factor using a battery on a hot sunny day and then not allowing it to fully cool in a cold place b4 charging it again ,is not good if you can put it in to a zip lock bag with some silica gel in the bag to stop moisture and put it in the fridge for an hour before charging it would be great but its not very practical in my case where i have ninebot minis or one wheels or uniwheels skate boards ect ect etc and disconnecting the battery is a fifteen act opera so ,,,, it dont get done .not to put in the fridge but it would be a great idea . how ever i do leave them to cool for at least an hour in the cool= never in the sun or by heaters b4 charging them ,and leave them to cool after charging them for and hour too i have so many personal transport machines all of which have to be charged up and powered down ,and stored at certain levels and all at cool temperatures too to keep the battery's from going quack it is a full time job i write on bits of paper ,post it notes .all sorts of data to help me maintain my battery's but you still have to replace some of them ,cos some just go pop ,and it don't matter how much you do to look after some of them are just going to fail . its a huge pain and very expensive .and when you buy a new battery you have to follow certain programs too charge them full and use them till there empty 3 times after that never power them down past 20% b4 charging them if your not going to use them for a month or two ,charge them fully and use them so the battery is at 70% full then they are good to store but not for longer than2 months b4 doing this all over again ,, but you know you can never tell you might do all these things and just have a dud or a faulty set of battery's like i say i am so strict with mine and i still have duds and fails bloody battery's are just like that and any moisture in the battery's is a killer to the contacts can fail and rust ,its a huge problem ,some people try to seal their battery's up but some times this can trap moisture that's already in the battery upon delivery in side and make it worst some people think if they have used some thing in the rain to put int near a heater ,no no no never is it a good idea to put any battery's near heat ,if your battery's are wet swab them with paper towels but never put them on a heat source or they will pop never put things being charged near a radiator or heater remember battery's like cool temperatures I hope that this info help every one if you have any questions please ask me konstantin
I wonder why this video was made if the Stock Battery was so good. I would say to yuneec keep the two batteries take off 200$ and ship me the quad. I will purchase Batteries elsewhere
I bet a lot of Q500 owners are only using the charger that comes with the quad. If that's the case, you are slowly destroying your batteries. You need to put a storage charge on you batteries if you aren't going to use them for a few days. This will significantly extend the life of the batteries. The Yuneec provided charger will not put a storage charge on the battery.
jwden123 You make a very good point. While I enjoyed flying my Yuneec birds, the batteries were my least favorite thing. I know all about taking care of lipos and was able to extend the life by maintaining them properly. Having said that, manufacturers don't take the time to explain this to new owners. And most owners are casual hobbyists so they don't know about proper lipo maintenance. As much as it pains me to say this, the smart battery is one of the best things to happen to the hobby. It does away with most of the common lipo issues and allows for much longer battery life overall. If everyone were still using standard lipos, there would be a lot more lipo horror stories and a lot less drone sales. Thanks for watching and fly safe.
jwden, you need to take your head out of your ass
Thanks for this great review.
Where did you get the aftermarket tablet holder with the aluminum base?
Angel Vivas The actual part that holds the tablet is stock. I did upgrade the base to a CNC aluminum base which is a HUGE improvement over the stock base. Here is the link: www.amazon.com/Jrelecs%C2%AE-Mobile-Device-Phantom-inspire/dp/B017BGCW24
Thank you for your reply!
Angel Vivas You're welcome mate!
Nice system, too bad their price when up to $300.00, but I did enjoyed listening to Zepplin in the background. :-)
Bobster986 Haha! Who doesn't love Zeppelin!
I bought both the Hoodman sunshade and their controller belt, tried both and they work great together, but they need to continue to refine them both.
Bobster986 I agree. All options for hoods need work to be honest. the best option for me has been using a 10'x10' pop up canopy. I use it when I can otherwise I find a place that's shaded to fly from.
Anyone with the Autel having lots of problems with video interference? I don't ever lose control of the drone but the video to the display does have issues regularly. This of course, does not affect recorded video.
Daniel Audet I have read that some people are having this issue but I haven't personally experienced it. I've had my XSP for quite a while now and haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary with it.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
I can use autel robotics with vr lenses
albertjenn@gmail.com Tavarez Maybe but you won't see the image in VR because the camera isn't producing 360 images.
i can use a ger vr with autel robotics premiuem
Thanks Kevin. Does the tablet need to be cellular ready? I have an iPad mini 4. But it's wifi only.
Charlie You're welcome sir. No, your mini 4 doesn't have to be cellular ready. That's not needed but does come in handy when doing mapping missions.
Thanks for the quick response. I'm about ready to buy the X Star, but on your advice, I am going to wait just a bit to see what they are coming out with.
Charlie They've already announced it. Now they just need to start shipping. I think it will be the end of March or so. But waiting for an official announcement from Autel is a wise move. Having said that, you can pick up an XSP for cheap. some people have the cash flow to have both the existing version and buy the next version as well.
Any suggestions where? I'm seeing the the same prices about everywhere. $749.00 for white, and $799.00 for the orange.
Charlie I'm partial to CarolinaDronz myself. The owner is a true believer meaning that he believes in outstanding customer service and total customer satisfaction.
Could someone possibly tell me where I can buy the XSP in the UK? All of the links I have seen online are American? Thanks
Ricardo Teixeira I'm not 100% sure you can get the XSP in the UK due to the video transmitter frequency used (900mhz). You might want to double check on the allowed frequency there. Sorry I don't have better news.
SLR Hut has them for £650 with some extra things.
Just picked one of these up today. The 4k footage looks great. Have you had any issues with loss of detail at 1080 120fps or 2.7k 60ps? The 1080 120fps that I've shot today just looks muddy.
Tiny Robot Creative Thanks for watching! The X-Star is a great piece of kit, especially considering the price. Really hard to beat. I haven't shot much footage at 120fps or in 2.7k. What footage I did shoot was as good as the 4k or 1080p though. Best advice I can give is shoot something else and if it still looks muddy, send it over to Autel Robotics and ask them to look at it. If there is an issue with your camera, they will fix it asap. Look forward to seeing your work with the X-Star!
I have taken about 4 videos so far and all are choppy/jumpy. Started with 4K, went to 1080p @120fps. All very choppy. Any advice on settings for smooth video?
Dave D Ok, when you're viewing them, are you using your mobile device, a computer/laptop or a TV? While shooting in 4k is a great feature, most people do not have a 4k monitor or TV. the choppiness you are seeing when viewing the video could be because of that.
I am viewing on my home PC. The 4k videos I watch on TH-cam seem fine. Today I will try the settings you have on the video you took here (1080p @ 60fps). I also have a call into Autel to see what they recommend. Thank you for the help.
Dave D You're welcome sir. So the videos are only choppy on your phone? Did you copy them directly to your phone or are you viewing them through the app? If you're viewing them through the app, that is likely the issue. Best to copy them directly to your mobile. Also, make sure your mobile is capable of displaying 4k.
I watched your video again because its so informative, thanks. One question, when recording a video I know that I can get the video off the SD Card on the X-Star. How can I record it on my Samsung Note 3 at the same time I am flying. Is possible to record directly to my Phone. I do have the Starlink app installed but can not see where the setting is. Thanks
Vaughan Lundin Thank you for the kind words. You cannot record your flights directly to your phone. You can, after landing, download the footage from the camera without having to remove the micro SD card. To do that, you just need to view the footage. While doing so, you will have the option to save to your device. Now, if you're interested in rcording what is displayed during the flight, you will have to use a screen recording app but that records what's on the screen, not just the camera view. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much for doing this comparison! I have a couple questions I still haven't been able to find an answer to. Is the lens diameter the same on each? I want to see if lens filters for the phantom will work on the X-star. I've also heard that the propellers are interchangeable. The DJi's are better known so there seem to be more options for propellers and filters. I've been trying to get an answer to this for a while so any help you could give would really be appreciated. Great content!
Ben Brooksby Thank you for watching Ben! Glad you found it helpful. So, to answer your lens filter question, no. They are not the same diameter. The lenses are different enough to require separate lens filters. I really like the Freewell lens filters myself. The good news is that the P3 props can be used on the X-Star. I've tested this personally by swapping them out and flying each bird with the others props. Hope you enjoy your X-Star and don't hesitate to ask other questions should you have them!
Hey Kevin; I really enjoy your videos. Very well done. Can you tell me if the X Star has no-fly-zones? And if they pevent you from flying? I live about a mile from a small municipal airport and have permission to fly. Thanks for sharing great videos.
Charlie Thanks for watching my videos Charlie and for the kind words. I appreciate them. So the X-Star does have no fly zones programmed into the Starlink app. It does not prevent you from flying but it does limit your elevation to 250 feet. This feature had been tested near large international airports and I have seen it work as I just described. I'm sure I don't need to remind you that you need to make the airport aware of your flights beforehand. It's been my experience that the municipal airport managers are happy to hear from you. I always make sure that I'm aware of the takeoff and approach directions for these locations and try to avoid any flights in those areas to avoid any issues. When you contact the airport, be sure to tell them when your flight will occur, maximum elevation you plan to fly as well as maximum distance you plan to operate. Be sure they have your mobile phone number in case something changes and an unplanned flight of a manned aircraft occurs. It's all about safety for you and users of the airport facilities. Thanks again fr watching my videos. More to come as soon as the weather allows.
Thanks for the fast reply Kevin. I had a fly-away with my Chroma. Unrecoverable over the ocean. :-( I think the X Star would be a good choice for what I need. I have spoken with the manager several times. He contacted me once to get some vids of an osprey nest on the property of the airport. So I am quite comfortable working with him. He said not to bother calling everytime time I go up. He has no problems with drones. Just make sure to get permission the first time, and then go from there. He has seen some footage from others and knows they didn't get permission, because to date, I am the only one.
Charlie Very good. I have similar relationships with property owners and airport managers so I understand completely. I think you will be very happy with the X-Star for sure. Buy the Premium as it is the best bang for your buck. However, if you can wait, Autel Robotics plan on introducing a new camera with a 1" CMOS sensor as well as a new model. This is all due to happen around April. I've been pleased with the performance of the X-Star and I highly recommend that you watch FPVGUY'S video showing all of the available drone cameras and which performs best. Surprisingly, the X-Star outperforms the X3 camera on the Inspire 1. Watch his video though as he does some in depth, scientific analysis. Good luck with your purchase! I can tell you that CarolinaDronz.com has the X-Star in stock and ready to ship now as well as additional batteries and a lot of other accessories. Be sure to tell them I sent you.
Will do!
I couldn't pass up a great deal I got at Caroliner Dronz. Frank gave me a great deal on a white XSP w/extra batt. My previous Chroma was white. I didn't have a problems keeping track of it. I haven't had the weather to fly yet. So I'm trying to learn what I can from your nice vids. Question; does the start motors button also shut them down? I like to "catch and release". Thanks again for the taking the time.
I bought a dji p4 and it was dead when I got it. I took it back and read reviews on xsp and it had higher ratings. so I bought the xsp
ROB MAIN Yeah, that happens sometimes. I love my X-Star but I also have a Phantom 4 Pro that is absolutely amazing. A video is coming soon!
