    What if the seller misleads about a product, saying, for example, a shoe will fit wide width, but it doesn;t & isn't wide width?

    I don't understand this, because my Amazon vine products are mixed. I've ordered things like underwear, which certainly has nothing to do with business or hobby. I've order home stuff, with the same factor, neither hobby nor business. I don't see how that all works out. I've ordered some stuff, hoping to eventually start a business, as an artist who completed art college. But I'm not yet earning income as an artist. I'm still studying/ researching/ practicing/ developing/ still working to come up with my own styles/ designs, experimenting. I set a goal of an art show in a year, to launch/ start earning income, not this year, when I'm getting vine stuff. So I wonder what you do if your Vine stuff is all mixed personal, future business. I started receiving stuff without even realizing this would be income.

      I'm happy to explain more to clear up your misunderstanding. I live in the US, and anyone who is a Viner in the US will receive the same tax form no matter how they choose to use the platform. Many people use the program for personal items, and I believe using the "hobby" option is best. How you choose to file is your decision based on your situation because the video links help you determine if you qualify per the IRS to claim as a hobby. I made this video to help those who are experiencing issues understand their options during tax time, because of your misunderstanding.

      @@MoneyStruggleSuccess Thanks for your help. I just don't understand what to do when all the vine items are mixed category. Some of it could be hobby income; some could maybe end up business income; but it seems it would be wrong to pay business tax on the whole vine amount, when some of it is personal. So even though it is all lumped together by Amazon, it seems the various items deserve various treatment in handling taxes. That was my real concern. Do you know how to handle such a situation, when all your items fall in different categories? Thanks.

      I have made several tax-related videos based on my conversations with many highly qualified individuals who are smarter than me, but they all had different opinions, had no clue, felt confused, and then I spoke with the IRS. I took all that information and concluded that your logic is valid, but you are going to complicate an already complicated situation trying to divide products into groups based on use. As I mentioned, if between January to December you use both types of products you are only getting 1 tax form. It does not matter to Amazon and they will not divide your product totals based on your logic. You either take the easy road and file that one tax as a hobby or file as a business for the IRS, or you dig and work with a tax team to find another option based on the current tax law. This decision may not be the same for your state and local, so you should contact them to see what they suggest. Since you seem to be against this option, speak with a tax professional for guidance.

      @@MoneyStruggleSuccess You are reading opposition into my communication when it is not there. I am asking questions not opposing at all. I have no spirit of being against you. I greatly appreciate what you have to say. I was eager & curious to read your response just now. I hope this clears up the misunderstanding. You are doing a great job with sharing your experience to help others. Even though Amazon doesn't divide the items/ tax allocation, doesn't mean I can't when doing taxes, is my best guess. I also understand business tax is quarterly, so I've been gaining all this amazon stuff before having any earned income at all as an artist, so even though this is all new to me, I suspect that I can count amazon vine as just 1099, & then just stop receiving amazon vine items when a quarter starts that I start business earnings, so amazon vine won't effect that business quarter. This is my sense of what is right & fair & how it should be done for me & how I'll go about it. Again, thanks for taking time to answer. If you have any more info I'll gladly receive it. You are awesome. Thanks for caring to help people. Blessings. Peace. Love wins.

      I appreciate it so much. I genuinely thank you for that. To clarify this portion of your comment: "You are reading opposition into my communication when it is not there. I am asking questions, not opposing at all. I have no spirit of being against you. " Here are the sentences I interpreted to make me comment as I did. You stated, 'I just don't understand what to do when all the vine items are mixed categories.' I mentioned that the general answer is to file as a hobby or to file the 1099 form Amazon provides at the end of the year as a business. The 'pushback' sentence from you, which I understood to mean, ' I hear what you are saying, but I don't want to do that, which is a normal response, ' was, 'So even though it is all lumped together by Amazon, it seems the various items deserve various treatment in handling taxes.' This led me to state that you should talk with a tax professional who can find another solution based on the current tax law that may work for how you want to file your taxes from Vine. Dividing one tax form into two different totals isn't something I have ever heard of or done, so I have nothing to say about that besides talking to a professional or researching it. I understand you need an answer regarding product use broken down for tax purposes between personal and business, even though Amazon will only give you 1 form, not broken down. Also, I never for a second felt or thought you were against me, and reading comments can often interpret the tone differently than the actual intent. This is my opinion of what happened during our communication. No worries, nor biggie. Vine taxes are very complicated and unusual, so any information you get from your own research or others should be confirmed by your own research, a tax professional, or the IRS directly. Your thoughts are very logical, and I agree, but how you file your taxes per current code or tax professional opinions doesn't always coincide with logic, which is very frustrating. I'm still happy to help whenever you want another Viners opinion.💚

    Hello love - I’ve watched all your videos and something isn’t clear to me. I’m not asking for tax advice, just looking for clarity on what you did. - You filed your Amazon Vine 1099 NEC as Hobby Income. - You reached out to Amazon for a corrected 1099 - why wasn’t it correct? Did you claim the amounts were inflated because the items are no longer the same price as they were listed on the ETV? (I saw your answer to this to another poster so feel free to ignore) - Lastly, since these are promotional (free) products, given in the hopes of (not contractual obligation to) writing a review, and we are not employees of Amazon or the individual companies - then why is this even considered hobby income? It seems Amazon is shifting their tax burden onto thousands of unwitting Vine participants.

    • @MoneyStruggleSuccess
      @MoneyStruggleSuccess หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll be happy to answer your questions! 3rd question Any business can submit a tax document claiming income has been paid to anyone in the united states. It is our job as that taxpayer to challenge any claimed income by an organization with the irs to provide burden of proof. Just because a business submitted a text I commit to the irs does not mean that was the correctly and it's our job to show per the tax law while this income is not deemed legible. When I initially filed my income as HOBBY I had a tax preparer who only saw this as income just because of the tax form I received. When I spoke to a different person who shed light on the nuances of what was happening and how the tax law could be viewed differently based on the true nature of this program, I decided to go a different route. You will find many have chosen to file by hobby and also as a self-employed individual who then must pay self-employment. My thought is they and or their their tax preparer figures it's much easier and they don't want to go through the hassle of researching or asking questions to challenge the income that amazon is claiming to have provided. 2nd question Even though you already saw the answer to this, I will still reiterate what I stated. Throughout the year I have requested items to be removed due to various reasons which decreased my ETV value. Some of those requests were not removed from my account, as the associates told me. I learned that when you have an incorrect tax document, and you try to get it corrected but fail, you reach out to the IRS, which will guide you on what you need to do, as this document is not factual. My opinion Amazon has found a way to oblige the tax authorities by taxing us for participating in the program, although the products we receive are from numerous sellers, not solely Amazon. Although Amazon does participate in this program I received less than 1% of products from Amazon. At the end of the day, the IRS is a business that relies on tax documents provided to them from businesses. We, as taxpayers, have been conditioned to be afraid of the IRS and to never raise questions due to history. This leads to people paying tax bills they technically should not. The government is not going to stop people from paying the IRS if it's going to help them get more money at the end of the day. It is our job(taxpayers) to ensure that we're not paying money we should not be paying just because a business submitted a document that should not have been submitted in the first place.

      @@MoneyStruggleSuccess I absolutely agree, and I admire your commitment to discerning the truth and not allowing your fears or convenience to drive your tax filing. Thanks to you, I feel more equipped to handle this. I am currently on government assistance due to health concerns, so I have reached out to ensure this won’t affect my benefits. They notated my account, and told me it won’t affect it. My next step is reaching out to the IRS. I do not have to file taxes, but I believe I may need to do so late since I received the 1099 from Amazon. I worked as a staff accountant, so not personal taxes, however I have a decent handle on understanding the laws. I’ve also spoken to several people, but I’m at a loss with regards to reporting this as it is not a hobby income nor self employment, and yet I feel I need to respond to the tax document provided by Amazon so the IRS isn’t coming after me for not filing. I just got into Vine and am realizing how dangerous it is. It seems like people grab what they don't need for the sake of reviewing and maintaining gold status. But that ETV really adds up and will bite you. Vine seems great if you have the control to ONLY grab what you actually need or were going to get anyways. The 0 ETV stuff are just so rare and it's not really worth gluing yourself to the Vine website for to snatch it before others do.

All of us Vine users owe income tax on the Vine Products that we receive. However "How to file/declare it" is the question, the answer, Hobby Income on Schedule 1, Line 8z. This video seems to be about how to amend a return, if you filed the Vine amount incorrectly, not on "zeroing out" your Vine income altogether.

      @@MoneyStruggleSuccess Good videos. People just need to "follow the Money" ;) I really do think that some have a hard time accepting that Vine items are not "free" to them. • @MoneyStruggleSuccess
      @MoneyStruggleSuccess หลายเดือนก่อน

      Come on now, THANKFUL. If anyone or entity should be thankful is Amazon sellers and Amazon. You can get these same discounts or even more from various places from the actual sellers themselves without the tax obligation. Well some items are 100% FREE with no ETV value and I focus on those more because I or family can use them, I still blame Amazon for keeping the 'FREE' language in all advertisements regarding Vine when it is not true. I felt dupped because I only signed up because they said it would be "free items", only to find out once I signup and started working my way through the resources tab, I found out about the tax obligation. I disagree with the "it's like winning a car " analogy because I've discussued with tax professionals and the IRS and each made it clear this isn't compariable circumstance especially for tax purposes. Everyone will compare Vine to what ever circumstance that makes the most sense to them to better understand this program and that's okay.

    I found this on the internet: To file taxes for a hobby, you need to: - Determine if you have hobby income or business income. - Report hobby income on Line 8 (Other income) on Schedule 1 of Form 1040. - Report business income on Schedule C of Form 1040 if you are a sole proprietor. - Gather all of your financial documents. - Report the total income received from the hobby farm on Form 1040 line 21. - Enter all of your expenses for the farm on Schedule A. - Check the figures reported on your tax return against your receipts and supporting documentation. They talk about reporting hobby income on Line 8, schedule 1 of form 1040 which is different from what you have done in your previous video where you filed on Schedule C and zeroed the income. Do you think this is a good idea? I want to start Vine but need to get all the details about filiing taxes first. Thank you for your help!

I'm am also very inclined to follow suit, and wonder what points did you write in your letter. I am trying to file my taxes and what I have come across is, if you file as a hobby, THEN you can't file a Schedule C and zero out the amount. If someone files a Schedule C and zero's out the total amount, then you can't file as a hobby. Does that sound right? Cause when I enter the 1099 NEC and file as a hobby, it doesn't allow me to then file a Schedule C to zero it out. Just want to make sure I am understanding it. And I'm guessing that since you have to send a letter of explanation for the Schedule C, you won't be able to file electronically anymore?

You have access to the amazon FAQ and the Vine participation agreement to read over regarding Amazon stating if we are independent contractors or not. Hi fellow Viner! I'm glad I read your comment because I think what you're suggesting seems like the logical preferred way for me personally. Even though this video has got me excited and I hope to utilize the information in the way suggested.......I'm just scared. Especially in knowing how the IRS likes to access giant fees sometimes if you don't dot all the i's and cross all the t's just the way they like, even if sometimes it is just a way to scare you into action. The fact is, I just don't know what I'm doing and that's scary when dealing with an entity like the IRS. I don't want the stress of worrying if I did it wrong, or wondering for months if maybe I missed an audit letter (sometimes my mail gets lost) or if one might still be on the way. This way I can have it all done in time, the safest way and end the worrying now, instead of wondering if things may be about to get much worse by taking a chance and doing it wrong. I'll do a little more research and submit a non-rushed, carefully done amendment and if it works then it will just be a pleasant surprise and then I'll also have much more confidence in how to submit it from the start, next time around. Thank you for putting the idea in my head!

      I understand your apprehension and I would do the same in your shoes. The one piece of advice I want to give is you are never in the dark when you ask questions. The ITD has a phone number to reach agents who can pull your tax return and inform you of whatever you are seeking most times. After seeing my CPA and Accountants always calling them for information, I thought why dpnt I do that as it will be much faster. Get comfortable calling them and asking questions. Pay for a tax filing service like Turbotax that includes an Accountant or CPA to ask questions while filing your taxes. I wish you luck!

A lot lf times, if you look on the actual Amazon listing for the product it will have a large percentage off clippable coupon. I have seen as much as 70% off. 1. Without fighting anything, if you read what is on an official 1099-NEC form in the fine print details, it specifically states if this is a sporadic or "hobby" activity and not self employment income, you should claim the NEC on Schedule 1 as Other income rather than as business income. This reduces the tax burden from around 50% (self employment sucks yo) to whatever your normal tax bracket % is as it's lumped with your standard income. But yeah thanks IRS for allowing this form to be used for things it shouldn't be used for and then saying claim it not as the thing it is.... Not like you don't have enough forms that adding one more would hurt. Of course, this should probably be on a MISC not NEC, but that brings us too... 2. Amazon is in fact breaking the law here, and every single Vine user who is NOT a self employed influencer (in which case it could be an NEC) should be filing a report with the IRS. Amazon should be separating out the SE influencers doing this as a job from just random participants just doing it for kicks as part of the sign up program but they are not. Their failure, or on purpose? Well the terms also say you receive FREE products, so they are lying to the program participants or lying to the IRS claiming this is paid compensation. Again, file a report. I also found nothing anywhere from the IRS about claiming random goods as "payment" being anything that is officially taxable. Straight up, 1099 forms of any sort are for actual monetary compensation, so again Amazon is lying to the IRS by filing these forms and needs to be held accountable. Why? Well they are in fact shifting the tax burden of a portion of their business to thousands of users in this scam, so it's just another case of big business trying to abuse vague portions of the tax code to make more profits at the expense of everyone else. All so the owner can build phallus rockets. Go to apps.irs.gov/app/digital-mailroom/referrals/ and file your incident with the IRS. I uploaded a PDF of the Vine information page and my 1099 along with calling out the key violations: "If you are completing the information as a business, use the name that appears on the top line of the address on your CP575A notice from the IRS." - I am not a business and as such did not supply business information "What is Amazon Vine? I appreciate your thoughts on this. Like many other people, I was unaware of the tax implications of reviewing Amazon products when I signed on, or I would have thought more carefully about what I chose to review from the beginning. There are some helpful Reddit threads I encountered after the fact that provide history on the Amazon and IRS debate regarding the tax status of Vine reviewers. Apparently, it's actually the IRS that required Amazon to start sending out 1099-NECs to Vine reviewers sometime around 2015-16, and Amazon fought it. I have yet to find official documentation of this, although it seems credible. That tax liability, of course, skews the whole the Vine Program, too, since in-the-know reviewers are less likely to review items that are risky in terms of estimated value vs. perceived value. I'm less like to review items "for fun" (e.g., that box of cocktail umbrellas) if I know there are taxes to pay if I do.

      I did some research, asked people smarter than me and I called the IRS as well. This video outlines what I was told, but you should do your due diligence by asking accountants, cpa etc to double check if you dont call the IRS as I did. th-cam.com/video/tWiIiqOVBFg/w-d-xo.html

      Yup! This is why I tell people to not be so quick to review products. I wait until the very last minute since Vine will not help with any product already reviewed.

      @truggleSuccess yea i just came across your videos. I'm going to start waiting to review now. Pretty lame of vine to be unhelpful to anyone who already reviewed. It doesn't change the situation at all. Oh well thanks for your content !!

    Love your videos! What about the state sales tax? I live in Washington and they supposedly collect sales tax. My tax accountant was clueless as he only deals with Federal Income tax.

      I cant speak on sales tax because that's not something I deal with nor need to pay towards.

    You have to pay sales tax on the attributed value if you put what you receive to use. However, a lot of states allow you to pay a lump sum to cover all untaxed goods received.
