Awesome bike. My buddy Dave had 2 or 3 of them. I bought one for him in 2006 or so for 800 dollars. The first bike in the video is a 1992 550 but it has 500 decals. KTM must have sold a ton of them. The 540 was officially a D/XC for desert cross country. No idea why they decided to call it a 540 in 1991 and then a 550 in 1992 and beyond.

My Australian model 🇦🇺 was an EXC enduro cross country .. 5 came in November 90 with full road registration and lights .. I got number 5 .. 132 mph top speed and low end grunt … what more do you need ? WP suspension Renthal bars and sprockets Regina chain Magura levers Brembo brakes✅

@@robbanks1896 wow thank you for the education. Actually I think. I know the bike I will dig because I’ve seen video and a pic of one. I don’t know if it’s possible but I’d love to see a picture. Maybe you could post a link or something to a private drive very cool I had no idea but my memory is coming back very nice.

So did it have the Enduro style rear fender, the kind of bend down and then the sub frame had that metal loop over the top of the fender?

Yes I ended up doing that it was epic. But the battery melted down.

Nice. They are great bikes. Are you sure it’s a 500 SX those are super rare sold only in Europe from what I understand.

@@rcuniversespeed9447 so i checked the vin number so i could get a graphics kit from a company called ktmvmx and they said it was a very rare bike too. i found it on offerup here in dallas for $800 and got a cheap amazon keihin 38 but it runs great! ran it for over 5 hours now been taking it on street rides and its been good but no one wants get behind the 2smoke lmao

Thailand. But the stripes don’t line up. I’d probably go evo mx next time. It was crazy hard to line it up.

@rcuniversespeed9447 hard to install too, the Thailand covers aren't shaped at all, just big flat pieces of material. I put on on my 01 kx500 but went with a old school 92 or 94 cover

He he. Def a 2 banger. The 500 is a way better motor.

Glory days. There are a few dt50 mx groups on Facebook. These little bikes are often more fun than the big ones. 80 cc would be perfect on her. I might try a bored out cylinder one day.

I am slipping the clutch to push the revs up if they drop. So I am slipping it a bit.

what do you sugggest?

@@DariusBarazandeh Maybe not slip the clutch every gearshift

@@nikolaiandreassen4768ok. I rode it yesterday and pulled the clutch in half way during shifts. Held the revs better. I’ve just always pulled clutches all the way in and let off on throttle. But def liked half clutch better. Any other tips? Always open.

I’ve not seen one. I have seen a few on bits and pieces. What can I help with?
