    Thank...Live in the Netherlands for several years and yes the healthcare is very good. France is also good as long as you not leave in an isolate area. Lived also in Italy, and sadly the level of healthcare was not good at all, for my standards but yet a very nice country. I am surprised to see the amount of people encouraging to move to Italy when you are retiring, often to move to small villages/towns without even thinking about one of the most important factor which is the healthcare facilities and their efficiencies/quality...All in all I would pick Spain,France.

    Southern Italy is hotter , slower more corrupt bureaucracy and the people are not as sophisticated. Move to northern Italy if you want more sophisticated European experience.

    I can't hear this anymore. You guys aren't expats. Expats are temporarily assigned for a predetermined duration in a specific location, by their existing corporate employers, in their professional capacity. You're immigrants. Simple as that. If you're trying to leave again after some time you're not an immigrant, you're a guest worker, or maybe a tourist. Expats 😂 Think you're better or what? Because that's how y'all come across. No one except you guys like that trust me.

    Buongiorno Saar. Your wonderful channel popped up on my YT feed yesterday. It could not have happened at a better time. I am doing 'deep dive' due diligence on applying for an ERV (Elective Residence Visa). Your experience with the health service mirrors comments I have read on other channels and blogs. Obtaining an ERV is challenging and every consulate seems to interpret the conditions differently. However, my main concern is the process of obtaining a PDS when you arrive in Italy. I have read that people are waiting 8 months for their first appointment at a Questura. This means it could be a year before you actually have a PDS card. The PDS is the 'key' to 'official' life - commune, SSN, doctor, buying a car etc, so I could be in limbo for maybe a year. I live in Bangkok and have 3 annual check-ups with my rheumatologist; the care is fantastic. Listening to your experience, I am concerned that gaining access to a rheumatologist might be extremely difficult until I am in the system. Like you, I am entitled to an S1, but I cannot register this without a PDS. Also, I have been told that some ASLs do not want to accept the S1. Catch 22 🤕. I have lived in France and Spain (Andalucia) and have restored houses in both countries. I've always wanted to experience 'la dolce vita', but the more I investigate, the more I see that life is not so 'dolce' 🥲. The non-lucrative visa for Spain is more straightforward. The financial requirements are lower, you can use an S1 for your health costs, and, when you arrive in Spain, you get a TIE residency card from your local police station or immigration office. I think I may return to España. You mentioned Cordoba. It is gorgeous. I ran a guest house in the 'pueblo blanco' of Medina Sidonia in the Provincia de Cádiz. Cádiz is an interesting town - history, food, beach, good transport connections, great bars and the locals are full of 'character' 😂 I hope you are both well again. If I can give you any ideas on España, please ask. Buena suerte 😎.

    I am an American who has lived in France with my wife since early 2023, and the same sort of issues in Italy are in France, except, the healthcare is on a slightly higher level here I think. Are there doctors and hospitals in Italy that are private that people can pay for there, or are they all government paid for facilities? Here there are both private and public facilities

    • @saarsoleares7175
      @saarsoleares7175 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there! From what we have heard the health care in France is a lot better in terms of organization. We have talked to many people about this issue in Italy and even some Italians we know went to France and Switzerland to get healthcare there. It is not the quality of the doctors or nurses, but the system they work in and the lack of funds that causes these issues. There are definitely private hospitals and specialists in Italy , but in our experience certain things can only be done through the public system and the private doctors are not allowed to do certain procedures. So you still need both. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Yeah, Italy is not easy to foreigners... But it's truthful. You can live here but it will not be easy. Apart for burocracy, it's not easy to just change culture. There's a lot of issues that comes in that way that can sometimes be impossible to win over. Nonetheless it's possible. Definitely is way harder become Italians than just becoming citizens of any other countries in the world. You know? Things that values a lot usually cost a lot. 😉 Good luck, be happy. There are! but I am not sure about the quality - we did experience going to a private specialist (not hospital), the problem was that we still needed to go to the public hospital because by law the private doctor was not allowed certain procedures. @@oscarm.1417 Hi! it’s hard to say because I can only talk from our own experience: but in our case , yes there were a lot of procedures that the private specialist could not do - we still needed to get a GP through the public system that then could refer us to the public hospital where they could do those medical treatments. It was all very confusing to us and we ended up in circles 🤷🏻‍♀️. Hopefully this was just our experience and if you get a private insurance and private hospital from the start it might be better 🙏🏻. when looking for private insurance I heard good things about Poste.it - the diamond plan. i think you finally it the wall that stands below all the beautiful veils of Italy. Which doesn't make the veils untrue, but at the same time doesn't make the wall untrue. And that is one of the reasons why Italians leave Italy (even if they eventually return for the other reasons :D). The burocracy is stupid. Togheter with the Indian one, they are the worst in the world. They both look nice until.... something happens in their mind (or somewhere). They just stop being who they are. They become "the system" And they are proud of it And they basically become robots who can't solve the easiest problem because "it's the system" (similar like people that says "it's the law" or "it's the medic system") They refer to it in a way that makes you think they believe that is something "supernatural" that cannot be touched or improved or even disregarded, if necessary. Somehow they don't realize or they forgot that "they are system" and that free will together with good sense, are more important then rules. they forgot that the "system" is made (or brought on) by humans (at least for what i know) and they could change that if it's not working. making it more thin and efficient, at least. So they have hospitals and rules and equipment, but they will lack somewhere else. Let's enjoy the food and the landscapes, it's better... sadly

We, my husband and I, spent a month in Cuenca, Ecuador recently and we loved it. We heard from the expat community that Cuenca’s health care is very good. That would apply to any country anyone wishes to move to. Same with health care. What were the good things (free) vs. the so-called health care system bureaucracy. Long COVID issues would be challenging anywhere, and it appears more daunting on top of all the other issues in a foreign country. You mentioned that eventually, some health care intervention helped. Details would help tremendously put things in perspective and make your video more informative. Sorry, but I only got generalities which do not help much..

    I was feeling droggy, worn out, tired, no appetite, didn't wanna eat, didn't wanna bathe, didn't wanna do anything really. A coworker took me to her chiropractor and that chiropractor, pushed and prodded, snapped, crackled, and popped from my feet all the way up to my neck. I just needed skeletal adjustments. What people were calling covid wasn't covid at all. General Drs. Don't approve of chiropractic treatment. They wanna dope you up with pills and keep you coming back for more. General Drs. Not sure if I agree that it was not long covid though- the illness is very real to so many people. But maybe chiropractors can help with the symptoms- definitely worth a try. Dear Brandi, I am so sorry to hear that you are still dealing with this, it is so hard and also so frustrating when others don’t understand. I recovered after 7 months. Everything I talked about in the video is what I did, and I am convinced it helped me to recover. I have had really dark moments, but always convinced myself I would get better, that my body could heal from this. It slowly settled into being healthy again and today I am back to my old self. I am wishing you that you will get well soon too and hang in there! you are not alone and things will get better!

    Bureaucratic problems. Any specifics?

    • @saarsoleares7175

      Honestly- too many to mention and on all areas : housing, immigration, health insurance, finding a doctor, getting or filling out any kind of government form or contacting any organization, getting an appointment at hospital. It really is a mess. An example: as a eu citizen I had a dutch health insurance, which meant that with an S1 form I would be able to easily register with the local health office and get my “tessera sanitaria”. You really need this in Italy because doctors outside of the general health care system not only are expensive, but also can not perform many medical steps and they refer you back to the general practitioner- which you can only get if you have a Tessera Sanitaria. It took me a whole year to get the health insurance because of bureaucratic nightmare, whilst having a health crisis. Then, once I got it, finding a GP that is taking on patients was next to impossible, because the GP can only take on a certain amount of patients and in Florence there is a shortage of available GP’s. To simply reach them is already a problem because no-one picks up the phone. There are many steps involved and filling out of forms , confusion and waiting, just to get a GP. Then when we finally got one - he randomly threw us out again because he discovered he could not take new patients after all. This is just one of many examples. But I do believe that , even though Italy is famous for their nightmare bureaucracy- it does matter a little where you are in Italy. We got super unlucky on every single angle of the process. Still, just be prepared and hire a lawyer when moving to Italy ! 🇮🇹

      This is so, helpful! As someone who also has had long Covid complications, I can only imagine the lack of energy available to deal with all this...let alone get answers for the long Covid within a medical system. I am applying to a school in Italy as an EU citizen living in America and your comments/video inspire me to take action from abroad as much as possible if this opportunity opens. Da quanto scrivi, quest'ultimo punto a me appare parecchio evidente.

    I moved to Clabria where I felt like a fish out of water, then relocated to Formia/Gaeta in the Lazio area (a place I was researching ) and I had that sense of place that you are talking about. It instantly fetl like home. Yes the health system beaurocracy is a nightmare. Panama has a better, more streamline system and their connectivity to modern platforms are more advanced so we do not have that stress. It also has more accessible veterinary care. But; the people in Italy tho!!!!...I can't have enough of them!!!....they are beautiful welcoming people.....and don't even get me starting on the artisans's wine!....good luck on your next home. Good point. I haven't been but there are so many different regions. And Rome is like New York or Amsterdam or Paris is just so different from the countryside (towns) around. If one doesn't feel at home in NY, Amsterdam or Paris then that doesn't mean one can't feel at home in the countryside towns around or further away from it. I mean even some locals don't feel at home in their capital/big cities!

      @@mradventurer8104 The people!!! The people in Calabria is also nice but they are more to themselves. Here they are more used to foreigners of all walk of life. It is also comforting to have Rome and Naples more accesible. And we can add the infrastructure. While the medical services might be a disappointment, in Calabria is pretty much non existent, much less for pets, and I have dogs.
