This hidden ravine run at AZ Snowbowl is MADE for the ski bike! Quick movie made on an iPhone13 (view in 1080p HD) shows the fun and precision of riding the awesome SkiByk SB100. Ski Biking is the absolute best thing I've discovered in years - and I own and ride just about everything that exists with handlebars. This sport is near the top when it comes to FUN factor! 1983 Honda V65 Magna
มุมมอง 64K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Walk-about overview of my beautiful 80's muscle machine in the unique Siren Pearl Blue color. Enjoy! A couple of guys have asked about my custom handlebar setup. Here are the details: Bar - got this from Dennis Kirk ($36): Chrome 7/8 in. CB750K Replica Handlebar - 23-93145 , Part #: 599796. It's a 70's era Honda CB750 replica bar. Found this to be the perfect cockpit mod. with the 1" riser. Ris...

Hoping to find or piece together a clean one someday
A handsome brute
I brought that same color honda V-65 magna brand new in 1983 I wish I still had it now I'm 68 years old now
Is the magna or the sabre more comfortable to ride?
Depends on what you're used to. Sport riding, go with the Sabre - It's a more "prone" seating position. Cruising or touring, go with the Magna - it's more laid back.
When they were new I had no interest in the Magna . Now I am almost 62 and would love to have one. That one is extremely nice !
I remember there was a magazine ad for these that said "0-60 faster than you can read this"
That IS my bike, but 84
Knew a guy who got one of the 1st ones when it came out. He was cruising one time and a guy on a 1000 hurricane though he was gonne be cute and blow him away. He pulled up alongside and nodded and my friend didnt even shift down but just canned it and the hurricane was left in the dust. Afterward he pulled over and the hurricane rider stopped to talk. He said he had NEVER had another bike di that to him. He was FREAKING INPRESSED.
Good video. Thanks for creating it. Informative, good engine startup. Has the sound I want instead like a Honda instead of a open header sound.
I had the '83 v65 in Candy Maroon. Best bike I ever owned. I can't count how many times I was asked to light up the rear while sitting at a light
Powerful comfortable and i weighed 140 pounds niceon the highway probably the best bike ieverhad and the v65 sabre
Very nice condition. I have an 83 in candy maroon (it's kind of a purplish maroon) - not "candy apple red". I had one exactly like it in the late 80's and early 90's and when I saw this for sale more than 30 years later I just had to have it. They did do 3 different shades of red for 84, 85 & 86 (candy andromedia red, pearl vintage red & candy glory red) along with black. But if it's an 83 it's either your pearl siren blue or my candy maroon.
Sorry but I had a black 1983, and it's 1100 cc, not cubic inches. I had the v65 magna and the 1985 honda 1000 interceptor, best bike ever.
No oil mod???? That should be the first thing to address.
Where did you get info about difference in HP number as in the Honda service manual all Magnas are rated at 116 HP. As far as the carbs the only difference btw them is the size of the main jets with 83 having the largest #140. Sabres that came in 1984 were more powerful, rated at 121 HP and they were faster than Magna. Beautiful bike, I have V65 from 1986 in pristine condition with 13k mile on the clock.
Where'd you get your highway peds?
1100 cc 65 cubic inch
Kurt, Your bike is really beautiful. I'm amazed at even the lettering on the indicator lights is still bold and legible. Mine is pretty much worn off. Does your antitheft system work? I'm trying to figure out how the one on my 83 v65 works still. It seems to be missing a cylinder of some sort that goes under the rubber cap that has "PUSH" written on it. Nice video too. Take care! Christian
I miss mine so much.
I have a black 85 and love it. It has 46k + miles and still pulls hard. I just cant seem to part with it.
My '85 will hit 45,000 this week (08/2024). Runs like a race horse.
I have a top Shelve 1986 black V65 MAGA only 22k miles for sale $7,000.
I have an 83 V45. Maybe looking to add a V65 to the family. The daily tough choice would be deciding which one I'm driving that day.. Cool-ass machines,
I presently own a 84 V65 Sabre.. Immaculate condition 3rd. owner got it 2 years ago with 26k on it (about 16k miles) and the did a bunch of upgrades.. very first was oil mod kit, steel brake lines, new clutch and upgraded spring, l.e.d. gauge lights & headlight, brakes rebuilt, brake and clutch master cylinder rebuild, Michelin Pilots and all new fluids, ceramic coated.. She is king of the road LOL! This almost 40 year old bike rides like a cruiser with attitude !
Loved my 83 v45.
I love Honda Magnas. I have owned many of them over the years. I got a new 1984 700 magna for high school graduation in 1985. I have owned the 87 Super Magna, 83' 750 Interceptor, and a 85' V65 Sabre. All of these v4's are excellent motors and are super fast. Today, I ride a 93' Yamaha Vmax. The Vmax is a beast, and in 85', dethroned the V65 Magna as the fastest production bike in the world. My 93' is a complete beast of a bike. It is beyond being super fast. I would say owning a Magna and a Vmax are two different types of motorcycles. One is meant to go in strait line and with brute force. The other is a better all around bike and much smoother when riding. This 83' Magna is a bueatiful example of what the 1980's were all about and why the Magna remains a legend until this day.
Wow, that’s a beauty. I had one just like it with a lot more miles. It had not been cared for like yours. Shortly after I bought, shifted it hard to 2nd gear and and either finished damaging what the previous owner had started or it was that way when I got it. Got the transmission rebuilt and the bike ran like a champ til I sold it with 41K on the odometer. Had a couple V65 Sabres after the Magna, but the Magna was my favorite.
Had one, bought used 1990 had less than 2500 miles. The bike scared the heck out of original owner, too much power, plus rider wasn't too experienced. It sat in his garage for 7 years so he sold it to me. Power was incredible from idle to redline. Wish I still had it.
Thanks for the story. Yeah, there are many times i wish i still had this bike, but i also sold it a few years ago. Loved the torque, loved the look, loved the nostalgia - but i was always afraid it wouldn't start on me during rides - which happened a few times (kill switch corrosion, fuel pump, etc.). This bike had some complicated engineering and was very fussy being 40 years old. I always felt gremlins were lurking - then there was always the fear of worn cam lobes due to insufficient oil pressure these things were notorious for. Ride safe!!
I had an 84 V65 and it was burgundy red, they came out with a beautiful brighter red in 85, but the Yamaha V-Max was the fastest cruiser of this era....Nice looking bike!..Enjoy
I had the exact same bike back in 89. Absolutely love it! Nothing like the torque from a v4?
I had the blue 83 put lots of mileage on her I ended up getting 4 sets of cams and rockers. Had her all dressed up with lots of being Loved the V65 Magna.
they had purple in 83 too - just picked up a 83 today.... Pretty jazzed
I live in Tucson. Back in the day, I owned 12 V65 Magna and Sabres. I do miss them.
Loved your review if the 83 Magna V65. I have the same bike ; 85 VF1100 which I’ve neglected for several months and now have issues with reviving over 1500 rpm. Tried adding fresh gas. Also added enzyme fuel treatment but no change. Don’t have any knowledge about cleaning carbs but suspect that’s the issue. Any thoughts? Tom
Hi Tom, thanks! If you can't get the RPMs up, then the engine is probably not getting enough fuel. Check your fuel pump that is has sufficient pressure. Or, 1 or a few of your main jets are plugged with evaporated gas deposits. This usually only happens to the pilot jet and the bike won't start. This happens all the time to us here in Arizona with that crap Ethanol blended gas. I only run VP Fuels Ethanol free gas in all my carbureted vintage bikes. Otherwise they get destroyed by sitting. You can try to remove the float bowls and unscrew the main jets to inspect them and run a cleaning wire though them all.
At our shop us mechanics tried to hide when these came in for work! LOL The carbs in the valley between the "V" are an absolute bitch to work on. A nightmare. A common job was the bike had been left sitting - and the carbs all clogged up with rotten gas. Cleaning them out was a $1,000 job.
THIS HSIT IS ABSOLUTRLY AWESOME keep it up my brother
I've been looking at some 1983, same color. Not nearly as nice as this. Any advice on ballpark price I should be paying?
Hi. I sold this one with all the accessories for about $5800 a few years ago
i like oid bikes that are very clean......i just bought a 750c with only 8k miles.....but it looks like it was park outside all the time....i only bought it because it waw very cheap and it was my practice bike
I had one and they are scary fast!
I have this exact bike. I actually do not mind the stock bars at all. I took her in for a complete spa treatment this winter. Can not wait til spring to let her out to stretch her legs. My only complaint about the Magnas is their sound. I wish they sounded more like the cbx 1100.
I had a maroon 83 V65, smooth and fast. I upgraded the seat, to a Corbin saddle, made a big difference. It was fastest in 83, the V65 Sabre in 84, The VMax in 85.
That's cool to know those muscle bike factoids. I sold that 83 Magna a few years ago...really miss it, but too hard to keep too many bikes running.
Put a 4 into 1 Kerker exhaust on it.....and rejet carbs. It will smoke a stock VMax....if ya wind it up ....and hang on tight. Don't shift to late in 1st....blast thru 2nd....and 3rd is wear ya loose the competition....hit 4th at 8500 rpm at around 110+. A new back tire is a must..... otherwise ya gonna be just spinning the rear tire.... especially in 3rd.
Back in March of 1983, I was in the USAF, and I got my V-65. I'd never owned or ridden anything bigger than a 125 dirt bike. The power of that thing was unbelievable. On the way back to base, I'd pulled onto the shoulder of the freeway to adjust my helmet strap, and without really thinking about it, just signaled, and pulled back into (65mph) traffic. There was a cabover Peterbilt roaring toward me, so instinctively, I rolled the throttle back, and wham! I was outta there! Zero to sixty-five in less than nothing flat. Talk about a white knuckle ride! The day before my warranty was up, a shift fork broke and locked me in fifth gear. I limped it back to the dealer and they rebuilt it for free.
That's an awesome story. Yes, the V65 pulls as hard as any high HP modern bike today. Just brute torque!
Impressed the dealer honoured the warranty. I would not expect that now.
April 2024, I got another V65 Magna. I found on online, for $2800, with 40,000 actual miles on it. '85, black, excellent condition other than some corrosion on the aluminum parts. Fuel sensor was burned out, but I fixed it. Replaced master cylinders, shocks & repaired exhaust. Still gets 35 mpg.
I love my magna got it as a gift a few years back. it's my daily rider right all original not as well kept as yours 😅. I want to rebuild it since it needs a overhaul and give it the bobber look. I've seen a few of them online and they look sharp. Amazing bike tho definitely slams me into the seat with ease they have a ton of power.
very nice your the man
83 s had 130 hp, the 85 i had was 120.....great bikes
I had one , back when I was young . It was awesome .
Thought vmax took the spot of boss when 85 arrived? Either way me and my lady ride v4’s, her an 03 magna me a 94 vmax. Both are very fun
Your idle is way too high !! Stock is 1100 rpm but it’s good to be at 1300 on this bike because oil doesn’t go easily to the camshaft.
Beautiful bike I had an 83 also except it was a deep maroon. Surprised I lived after all the crazy crap I did on it, wheelies at night was a favorite watching the headlight spot the sky. My girl friend burnt her calf on the exhaust and has a scar to this day
I will give $1.000
Sorry to chime in after a long time. You still got it?
oh, sold it shortly after this video was made in 2020. Hated to sell it. But, I had the "too many things with handlebars in the garage" syndrome. :D
