I heard some other Chinese art songs, but this is the first which uses really elements of the traditional Chinese tonal music language.

You sang the prologue very well, congratulations. The famous and probably feared high notes were also flawless. Unfortunately, these two notes destroy the musical and dramatic architecture of the aria. They were probably not originally composed. The baritones who founded this egocentric tradition have done music history a disservice.

Amo Puccini, Mascagni, Giordano, Cilea etc., ma Il verismo è stata la rovina del bel canto. Infatti sono "note impossibili per la maggior parte dei tenori" di oggi. Un declino che inizia da molto tempo fa. Direi inizia già con gli anni 60 e 70. Adesso poi lasciamo perdere proprio, il deserto. Anche l'ultimo tenore (nel video) non gliela fa alla fine con Rossini. sigh!
