Yes, luckely one good ride that day. All the other waves I just couldn't get on, didn't find the balance and power. Bit of an off day.

Was a vey fun day!!

Waves and suction from that ship were working together. At some point i was surfing but didn't move back or forth, really weird feeling.

@@larscrantz good exercise for balance. I know what you mean, i had the same, but the worst thing that can happen is to tip over.

@@kayakintro thanks 🙏. Normally it isn't soo bad. I think because of the lower water level and the weeds are at there full length (end season), they got chopped by the boat propellors.

Or maybe the weeds are dying...

I think a weed deflector will be the best option to try. Today was really bad, had to stop like 10-15 times.

Last three times were much fun!! True, not gonna ride this boat when it's cold. 540 is ok as well, but always happy to try another. Buddy of my has the 560, but i can't stay upright in that boat.

@@IamNothing82 You might still paddle it in winter but get a good dry suit!! They look nice with lots of buoyancy.

@@kayakintro time will tell. Normally i only paddle in summer, but im gonna try to suspent this year.

I thought that was with women on board 😂. There was a wave deflector with the boat, but it doesn't fit 🤪. I think they gave me the deflector of the original Viper. Anyhow the sides are also lower compared with the 540, so water comes in from all angles anyway. I just leave the bailer open and it's also nice with warm weather 😅.

@@IamNothing82 A crazy thing! I was going downwind between a rock and a pier and there was a fishing line between the two… I guess it got stuck and I didn’t see it. It made me go flat on my back when I hit it and broke my GoPro chest mount with some plastic gone. Lost the GoPro too! I was glad I didn’t get the line on my throat.

@@kayakintro wauw, that's crazy!!! Sometimes i read stories abt ppl that do that on bicicle lanes here in NL. But even on water we are not safe anymore

Nice wakesurfing with the boat starting at 30 seconds... I also got stuck once to a fishing line. Since then I carry a knife with me when I go paddling.

@@larscrantz it's hard to compare, but if I had to choose, i still go for the 540. The 540 is way better with surfing and I stay dry more. The Viper on the other hand accalerate very good, has a nice glide and demands a better technique and concentration. As with the hot summer days it's very fun when it doesn't mind to get wet.

@@IamNothing82 I haven't paddled the 540 myself but I would guess that it's more like the 550 in the hull than the Viper 46, and I find the 550 to be more of a boat than the Viper 46, I love to paddle the Viper 46 but I find it's more of a boat to "play" with than the 550. Different boats for different reasons, I guess I would choose the 550 (and probably the 540) for somewhat bigger waters.

@@kayakintro yes!! A flat hull is more tipy in rough waters then a round hull (if you can handle that). I think that's also the reason that I didn't tip over in the Viper (yet). It's very easy to push it back upright when you abt to fall. A flat hull follows the water surface, so when the water is at ab angle (big wave), the full will follow. I almost sold the V7, glad I didn't.

@@IamNothing82 I definitely prefer the round hull type. I guess the flat hull helps to remount but besides that there isn’t much advantage. The V7 in great by the beach. Possibly even better would be the V5 because it turns so fast.

@@kayakintro still no swim 😁. This trip I felt realy confident and stable for the first time with the Viper. Im already looking, but i don't think there are narrower ski's that stay within the 550cm length.

Let me look… You might be right! The Nelo 560 is 45 wide but 10 cm too long. I can only see the K1 and they are limited to 520 cm. Width is 41 cm 😂

@@IamNothing82Yes could be that but his paddle time in Sweden is quite restricted because of the long winter, so usually he paddles a lot whenever he can. What are your impressions about that Viper 46? Looks superb! And a very wet ride!

@@kayakintro a very wery wet ride indeed, due to the low volumue water is poring in from all sides 🤣. I like it, but it's not as good with surfing as the 540, but it's an hybrid and I knew that before buying. I have to stay alert all the time, so it demands more concentration then the 540, but accelaration and glide and keeping course is better. A very fun kayak as long you're not afraid of getting wet or tipping over.

@@kayakintro that was my first plan. But after consideration with the change off tipping over on the river where im on, it's saver to have an easier entry. That's why I choose the ski version. For winter ill get a dry suit and take the 540 i guess.

@@IamNothing82Yes, with a dry suit you will be fine. Is it easy to remount? It looks the sides are low which is great for remounting.

@@IamNothing82😂 Well you are doing very well. There will be a time the 540 will start to be boring but keep it for your guests or for rough sea. I sold my V7 and still regret it because it would have been a good one for friends to try a surfski.

@@kayakintro i don't think so.. the 540 is much better in surfing, had a few waves today that i wished that i was on the 540. I've put my V7 for sale, but im thinking abt taking it off for the reasons you mentioned and for the ocean. Thank you for confirming this 😄

@@IamNothing82 Yes and it isn’t easy because I am at sea. Boats usually try to avoid you so they go large and I have to try to catch them. At Auckland harbour where they have the ferries and other big boats you are not allowed to stay around.

@@IamNothing82I nearly never paddled in lake/river so I can’t tell but in Auckland the sea is like a big bathtub with the 3 metres difference tide and the ground is full of rocks so we get some weird waves when the sea is shallow. I would love to paddle in a canal or a river so I have something to look at when paddling!

@@IamNothing82Waves always appear much smaller on GoPro! Only GoPro owners know it 😂 I think the only way to show well the waves is to have somebody paddling next to you with the camera sideways. Great video by the way! Love those waves!

Hi. Due to storage I couldn't go longer then 540, otherwise I would have but I'm very pleased with the 540. Good speed and stability, I'm sure it will be a nice step up from the 510. Have fun on the water my friend!

I don't want to say boring, but there was almost no wind. So, yeah.. boring 😋

@@IamNothing82 I lived in London for 16 years and visited the rest of Europe quite often. I have been to the Netherlands (Maastricht, Amsterdam, Den Haag...)

Could have done much better... Some waves were huge, but coördination and timing was off, I guess my body is getting tired after 5 days on a row. Still thankful for this day 😉

@@larscrantz Yes, some very clean waves there and the 540 looks quite good too! The only way to do the same where I live is to wait at the entrance of the port but with the ferries/cruise boats/yachts you don't want to fall in and be ran over 🤣

This spot is really awesome, and it's almost in my backyard, but far from the ocean. Really happy with this place.

Hi mate, Whole day was amazing, didn't record the best surf made by a tugboat 😖. But yeah, the last 2 minutes or so of this video was much fun indeed! Sad that on video it always seems the are smaller and going slower. Starting to love the 540 more each day, quick and it really wants to surf. Although pretty stable, it can catch you when you are not paying attention. 😁

@@IamNothing82 I have also managed to miss out on some really good surfs camerawise, quite annoying🤔! I agree with you, almost a bit dissapointing when looking back at the waves on film. Ahh, good to hear👍, those Nelo boats really grow on you, don't they?! I have paddled both the 550 (old hull) and the Viper 46 quite a bit and I love the feeling I get from paddling them😀!

I tried the 560 with old hull, couldn't manage to stay upright 😂. That was the viper ski right, or the fitness boat? I love the looks on the viper ski, never tried it.

@@IamNothing82 I have also tried the 560 very shortly on very calm water, I think it was with the new hull, but it felt very tippy to me. Not a boat I would try in waves anytime soon🤣! Yes the Viper 46, it really feels like a boat to play with, very quick and responsive, very easy to get down into wakes with. It felt a bit tippy the first time I tried it but was pretty easy to get used to, very forgiving.
