1985 Merc 190e Wind Shield Trim SCREWED in NOT CLIPPED

The windshield is just glued to the frame so it makes sense the the trim is screwed in to hold the wind screen in place. This I didnt understand or figure out till after pulling on the trim for far longer than I should have. Hope this helps. 4 screws on each side.

First time using Plastidip on something. Would I use this stuff again, prolly not. Has a tacky cheap feel to it. It feels slightly unstable like it could rip or tear at anytime. Maybe I should have done a 4th coat. IDK. I like the color of it. Metalizer is a must other wise it looks very plain/dull.

Did you measure the overall length before and after install? Looks like the helper springs are compressed a lot more in the after shots. Curious if it really gets a 1 inch "lift" to the coilover.
I never measured but it did lift. I no longer scrap on every little bump in the vehicle. Side note these coils are height adjustable.

never failed. If you weld the sheet out of it and try to cool it asap. You should be good for a few laps at least.

yes 900 degrees. I started with 1080 and worked my way back down. helped me learn how to counter whip the wheel.

Why did you pull the headlights? I mean technically you don't even have to pull the radiator...either way, you guys pulled way too much...5 bolts and disconnect exhaust and wiring and that motor will lift out...today will be the 4th time I've pulled one
We took everything out to paint the engine bay. agreed over kill if only removing the engine.

They didn't do any research before they pulled...it takes me an hour to get it loose...it's held in by 5 bolts

See? If it's your first Mercedes engine pull it's going to take a good long time...I remember the first time I pulled my diesel...took me 3 days...last time I did it? About 2 1/2 hours...if you know what you're doing already makes it a hell of a lot faster...

why did you switch to a Ls3 Waterpump? Is that needed to fit the new Throttle Body? What kind of HP gains are you suppose to gain?
the idea of the build is to have the lq9 block with ls accessories. Why I chose the ls3 water pump is because it lines up with the stock harmonic balancer. It also redirects the outlet to radiator line. No idea on hp gains if any.
What did you remove off the gear box to take it out with the motor? I'm about to do the same to my car
First remove the exhaust and gearbox bracket. These are placed under the gearbox and exhaust pipe. Support the gearbox on a jack with something to even out the weight on the gearbox's oil pan. The gearbox is connected to a round rubber wheel (I forgot the english name for it) This wheel has 6 bolts, with every other bolt going into the gearbox or driveshaft. Remove these bolts and the speedowire on the right rear side of the gearbox. Start lifting it out and remove the wire harness that goes to the starter motor. I think the speedo wire is connected to this harness aswell, but if it's not, remove the speedowire on the right rear side of the gearbox Thats it.
I’m in process of a ls swap with a LQ9. Did you use the original harmonic balancer with the ls3 water pump? Or did you use a theLS3 harmonic balancer. Your video is great.
original Lq9 oem replacement harmonic balancer with a ls3 water pump. Never reuse the original harmonic balancer after taking it off. Cheers!
I went with a new stock lq9 harmonic balancer. the ls3 water pump lines up perfect with the stock lq9 balancer.

I think diesels are better for this kind of stuff, more torque. Try to find a 2.5 or 3.0... Or even better - with a turbo. Cheers
I tested this theory on a 2.6 gas and 2.5 turbo diesel, and your right.

Couldn't get the connection wire to sit right against the nrg base. There are some quick fixes for it tho. In my build the horns not needed so for me I was like.... *shoulder shrugs* whateva
I left the original automatic transmission diff in it. I have the manual trans diff still in my shed. Lol.
