Cleaned up hoarder’s house … must of been hundreds of black bags each filled with soggy boneo boxes which were filled with tin lids.. from floor to ceiling.. felt terrible he was gutted

I feel sorry for the council workers who have to clear these dumps when hoarders die

My mother was a hoarder, but I kept it under check. I left it alone for many years, but she got upset one time when a cousin came round and was laughing at it all. She got really self-conscious about having people around anymore and knew she had to sort it out. Others did try to help, but she was very stubborn about what went. So, I put my foot down and did something about it myself. I use put things in the in either charity or sell pile every few months. It was tough because she was stubborn, and we used to argue over it, but it had to be done. Her hoarding stuff never gone away, but I understood this wouldn't never disappear. When people came around afterwards, they always commented how well presented and clean her place was now. It has long-term mental health disorders. She was never like this, though. She was very house proud before she had a breakdown. It can happen to anyone. Some people need someone there to help them but also must be willing to put up with their stubbornness to let go. Some feel better when it's given away or sold on, not just thrown away in the trash.

He is a very intelligent man, took on the British justice and won all by himself

He is happy and unhappy at the same time. His collecting became routine a long time ago, and like any routine with introverted people, is very, very difficult to change. It is a comfort to him, but his health is affected because of diet and the fact that he cannot lie down to sleep has potential serious health issues.

I hope there are sprinklers, and smoke alarms installed throughout the property, that looks very dangerous from a fire hazard point of veiw.

I had a paper round for 5 years until I left school I can still remember what paper everyone gets on my round back in 90s

It's his house,his life but if there was a fire he would be burnt to a crisp. The council should try and get mental help for him.

I remember this, that awful man in the blue top only helped him so he could grab some of his land. This poor man living like this.

As somebody with similar issues (Hopefully to not so bad an extent; You can walk around my flat without gymnastics and nothing's stacked higher than a metre) perhaps if government weren't *actively facilitating* that culture of absolute insecurity of the person, then perhaps this sort of thing would be much less a problem in the UK?... 🤔

I’m tired of everyone always making excuses for why people, “hoard”, or live like this, there are homeless people living better than these people! Who just sits and throws trash, food ect and sleeps in it ? that’s just disgusting and trifling ! It seems like most people in the UK are very lazy and nasty! There’s not that much depression to just sit for years and years in a trashed , smelly, cautionary home! They have absolutely zero shame in the way they live! It’s always the people who have homes that don’t cherish them! People wish they could afford a home and here they are just living in a trash, rat and bug infested home like it’s normal! Stop feeling sorry for people who don’t feel sorry for themselves! I get not cleaning for a couple of weeks going through hard times but to sit for years and let things accumulate is just pure nastiness.

She's not a hoarder--she doesn't keep things that she thinks have value and she doesn't suffer distress throwing things out. She's just a lazy slob.

Think the lady is on something when referring to the building needs doing some work doing to bring it to a livable condition she keeps saying it needs bringing up to speed ??. What she should be saying is it needs bringing up to spec, Maybe she needs to be brought up to speed on what she is saying or maybe she is too slow.

The gentleman cleaning the ceiling fan exaggerates like my mom used to do. She see one sweater on the floor and in her mind "Clothes scattered everywhere"!!!! LOL

This is very sad. Obviously he is delusional in thinking that this is his “life’s work”. His health is a big concern. I live near a woman who has badly neglected herself and home for over 40 years. It seems that no one can intervene because you have the right to live like this even when you are a danger to yourself.

i am a collector and have a tendancy to love on line shopping and car booting, i have regular clear outs now to keep in order as when depressed i am likely to spend. i have banned myself from buying any more tat, its hard but we can get there
